Fantastic place for kids to learn to stay fit and become more disciplined. Good mix of defense training and having fun. Definitely the best spot in the community for MMA. I compared this one with another dojo where my friend's son attends and it's better. You have multiple instructors in each session which allows the students to learn and perfect their technique. You definitely feel the community and family atmosphere at Silbers.

It is my son's 7th year training at this dojo and we are very happy to find him a place that we call "second home". All instructors are very caring, kind, patient, knowledgeable and professional. They always keep parents in the loop so I know what my kid is doing and how my kid is doing at the dojo. They work with the kids at their own pace and knowing & understanding each kid is different. I grew up going to Silbers Martial Arts, where I trained for 7 years. The staff there, especially Sensei, could not be better, both as instructors, and as humans. I want to describe this huge challenges for nephew during summer break after took 2 months classes ~as the beginning of his classes he started with no knowledge of right position of push up, no quality of sit up, as he said- I hated and always wanted to skip most of the time. I love this place! I started doing the cardio kickboxing here about 3 years ago from a Groupon purchase with friends. I have continued to come because of the supportive and caring instructors as well as awesome classmates. You feel a sense of community as soon as you come. Each and every instructor, as well as the owner - Joe, makes an effort to know your name. They encourage you to continue to strive for the best for yourself and your body. Both my boys attend Silber's. My oldest has ADHD and learning disabilities. It was difficult to find the right environment for him to participate in a sport. He loves going to karate. He has become more confident and willing to try new things. Physically we have seen him grow as well. The best part is that he sees it too! All the staff show just the right amount of patience and discipline to keep him motivated. For him it is the perfect fit!!

I did my research before having my 10 yr old son join Silbers and I have no regrets. I read reviews of all the places in Franklin Square and Silbers kept popping up as most recommended and now I know why. All the staff are super friendly and great with the kids. They pay attention to detail and my son loves going to class. The reason I chose this place though (and I realize it may be different for every parent) is because he was bullied in school a few years ago and I want him to feel empowered and confident to defend himself as the last resort. I looked into karate and Taekwondo and found this place is neither, it's common sense martial arts that takes the best from different forms of martial arts making it realistic self defense. No form dance rituals here like taekwondo and you learn to use your hands as well. I've seen a huge difference already in about a month. To name a few, he does his chores without being asked and hugs me and my wife when we come home from work. His demeanor changed completely for the better.

Amazing family oriented karate facility. Every teacher is a superstar. The owner is incredible, very hands on and down to earth. The emphasis is on both karate skills as well as life lessons ie how to handle bullies and,teaching respect and discipline. Everyone there makes you feel like family and they host several events throughout the year for the children. Both of my sons love their classes and i am so happy with what they have learned and the confidence they have with pursuing their goals. I would never send them anywhere else!

From day one I was impressed with this dojo. We had tried almost a year ago to sign him up and his focus and attention span just wasn't there. Instead of letting us just sign him up and waste our money. Joe recommended we wait a few months up to a year. So we did, and not only are we appreciative of his honest recommendation, but I'm very impressed that the teachings go beyond the dojo. We joined the SMA family just about 2 years ago. My daughter in karate and I in kickboxing and I could not be happier with both experiences. Sensei and ALL the instructors not only teach the techniques of martial arts, but also try to instill in the children what it means to be an all around respectful individual in society. The classes are well structured and my daughter has learned so much. The progress she has made and strength she has gained is truly amazing and a pleasure to watch each and every week. She loves to attend class and is truly proud of herself after each one. The kickboxing classes are addicting! I actually get mad at myself when I miss one! Our son started the program about 3 years ago when he was 6, now he is turning 9. The kids work really hard and he has learned so much, more then just martial arts; the word of the mount is a great tool that I also find us using at home. He has become so much more confident and outgoing since being enrolled in the program. My Grandson began the program a little less than a year ago at 7 years old. He was a very shy and inhibited boy but is now outgoing and very confident in himself. I attended his holiday concert 2 days ago and was so surprised to see him in the front row of his chorus group with his eyes directly on the audience as he sang! This is attributed to the program at Silbers Martial Arts and the fantastic staff! Sensei always has time to greet the children as they come to class and puts himself out there always! Silbers Martial Arts has done so much for my son (age 10) and now my daughter (age 6). My son started here at 3 years old with low muscle tone, hard to even grip a pencil. He has grown into a very strong boy. When they come off-track Sensei Joe would take time out and help talk to them and get them back on track again.My son is more focused, organized and responsible. I have seen many of girls and boys who grew up int his dojo and are fine, respectful, caring young men and women now. Martial Arts here has made him a better athlete in all his other sports he plays as well. Funny as a baby I heard he may not be the best athlete and look at him now. I cannot express how much this dojo and the people in it have influenced me. The confidence, mental and physical strength, and friendships I've gained from training here have molded me into who I am now. When I first started training here, I was in the middle of a rough patch with my health. I was 14 when I was diagnosed with Leukemia and started training when I was 15. In school, people singled me out of a crowd as "the sick one", but not here. Sensei Joe treated me as normal as anybody else, which is exactly what I needed and wanted. The gratitude I have towards these people who helped me gain my health and sense of normalcy back in my life, whether they know it or not, is immense. I will continue to reap the benefits of training here in years to come. Not only have I learned the trade of martial arts, but I have discovered and was able to express these new found things about myself I had only dreamed of, like obtaining the confidence to move on through my illness, to test the boundaries of abilities I never knew I had, and to not be afraid of making mistakes. As one of Sensei Joe’s first students, I have been able to watch the dojo grow to become much more than a karate school. Aside from it serving as a place to learn martial arts, it has become a place where children and adults alike can gain self-esteem, self-respect, confidence, and discipline. Now that I am 20, I can look back and realize that Sensei Joe’s teachings have played a major role in who I have grown up to be. Sensei Joe is an inspiration to everyone because of his character and humility. His beliefs, philosophy, character, and personal promise are inherent in the dojo. I continue to be impressed by his efforts everyday. All of the instructors at SMA are excellent teachers and exceptional role models as well. They extend themselves to ensure that students are working to meet and exceed their goals. My entire family, including myself, train at SMA. The programs nurture and develop the whole martial artist way of life. The mind, body, and spirit connection that is fostered in my children is priceless. The dojo is a precious family to us, and it is hard to imagine life without it. It is a special place that I am so grateful and proud to be part of. There is something for everyone at SMA. You have nothing to lose, but so much to gain. If you want to challenge yourself, feel accomplished, and become a better you both mentally and physically, this is the place to be!

The people in Silbers Martial Arts are kind and caring and offer phenomenal expertise in martial arts. The children are provided a welcoming environment to learn and grow both in the martial arts and socially. Sensei and Sempai Cassie provide several family activities throughout the year, which provides a great connection between the families and the dojo. I have also been a kickboxing student and have seen a lot of benefits within myself from the training. Both Sensei and Sempai Francesca offer immense support and celebrate your victories right along with you. There just aren’t enough kind words I can write about Silbers Martial Arts and we are very proud to be a part of this dojo.
