Outstanding club, great atmosphere really welcoming. Very conscious of safety and hygiene but enjoyment is always at the heart of everything. Great place to start or continue your jiu-jitsu journey with exceptionally high level instructors and classes for all levels of ability and commitment.
Great gym, clean and well kept along with an array of great teachers, really welcoming.
Recently joined, very welcoming and friendly to a new guy! Great setup
I’ve been doing BJJ for twelve years and in that time have trained at a wide range of academies while travelling, as well as training at PMA for the last five years. Easy to get to in the surrounding area, in a full time academy with welcoming atmosphere, staff and members for beginners and advanced students. Clean, safe, and kitted out with weights equipment, large mat space, and showers and bathrooms for men and women.
Recently, I was awarded my blue belt and this is all due to Tyler’s fabulous coaching. Tyler is extremely patient, passionate, knowledgeable, and caring, and this is always prominent in our sessions. Tyler is very enthusiastic and encouraging and PMA is a great gym to train at!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We’ve had such a great experience at PMA Academy! The staff are incredibly attentive and always take the time to support each child. They are friendly, patient, and really know how to make the kids feel comfortable and confident. The instructors are excellent with children, balancing discipline and fun in every class. It’s clear they genuinely care about each child’s progress and development. The facilities are also fantastic — clean, spacious, and very well maintained. It’s a safe and welcoming environment for kids to learn and grow. I highly recommend PMA Academy to any parent looking for a positive and supportive jiu jitsu training centre for their child!
The club has a really amazing energy, a safe environment with unrivalled expertise on the mats - it’s an utter gem nestled away in Rayleigh, Essex. All the members are really friendly, the gym is always clean and the range of classes for kids, beginners, more experienced players and those that want exposure to competing is incredible. Classes are available morning noon and night and the depth of experience with over 20 black belts is remarkable!
Best place to train around area. Very clean and spacious mat space, changing rooms and restrooms. Great and welcoming training environment with top level coaching and high level training partners.
Posted 2 years agoBeen a member for about 15 months now, the team and coaches are fantastic for all levels beginners to advanced. Would highly recommend anybody starting their journey or trying out bjj for the first time to give this place a try, they give fantastic seminars from guest athletes in the field, a great atmosphere rolling with people of all different lessons. Each session you will learn something new.
Posted 3 years agoJoining GB Southend is one of the best things I’ve ever done. The instructors are masterful at what they do - combining a friendly, family like atmosphere with expert tuition and guidance. There’s a great variety of classes from gi, no gi, competition and all sorts. You can train early morning, lunch time and/or evening. If you are considering Brazilian jiu jitsu this is the place to do it. You will get a warm welcome from the instructors and members alike and learn not just techniques but skills and abilities that are helpful in all aspects of life.
Posted 4 years agoFantastic place to learn Brazilian jiujitsu! Most welcoming gym I've ever trained at and very family friendly. It's not in any way intimidating - egos do get left at the door. Lee is an amazing coach that really cares about his students. Top bloke too!
Posted 5 years agoDecided to do one class to see what it's like i got turned away. I'm told that there's no drop in, if you ask me it's cultish behaviour.
