A true hidden gem on the South Coast. I’ve trained for years at some world-class gyms around the world, spending time in Thailand at Phuket Top Team and Singha Muay Thai, as well as Absolute MMA, Mike's Gym in the Netherlands, and TKMMA in the UAE. This gym is, in my opinion, my favourite for a variety of reasons. I came to Southampton temporarily and wanted somewhere to train and get back into Muay Thai. I tried several other gyms around the city, but the training felt too robotic and lacked the attention truly needed for martial arts. It felt like I was just another person in the room, more like a standard gym class than a place to really develop. I tried pretty much all the other gyms in Southampton. Then I came to Parity and met Jon, the head coach. I explained I was looking for Muay Thai training that matched the high level I was used to, and he pointed me towards Mo Abdulrahman’s classes, a current world champion. From day one, I was hooked. Mo isn’t just a great athlete, he’s a great coach who actually embodies what he teaches and performs it on the world stage. The classes were intense (in a good way) and high level. As they only run a few times a week, I decided to try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu too. I had tried it before but it never really clicked, especially coming from a stand-up background, but this time it did. I found myself even more addicted. The BJJ team at Parity includes five different black belt coaches, all with their own teaching styles that complement each other really well. With a mix of daytime and evening classes at different paces, there is always something that fits how you are feeling and the energy you have that day. I became a full-time member and have since tried almost every class. Honestly, they are all great. The MMA coaching and the boxing with Rich and Anton really stand out, both are incredibly humble, down to earth, and bring years of experience. Amy’s kickboxing classes are fantastic and offer a different take on stand-up compared to Muay Thai, which I really enjoyed. The recently added Judo classes fit perfectly into the schedule. As someone with long-standing injuries, I was a bit worried about getting hurt again, but Lance runs the classes at a pace you are comfortable with and really prioritises safety and enjoyment. I even tried the Sumo classes, which were way more fun than I expected and gave me a whole new respect for the sport. Overall, the culture and community that Jon and Joe have built is what really sets this gym apart. With world-class champions coaching, over 10+ black belts, and a huge range of experience across disciplines, there is genuinely no ego, just encouragement and progression. It honestly feels like I have found a second family here. I work from home and do not always see friends regularly, so having this community, seeing familiar faces, training together, and helping each other improve means a lot. I have spoken to loads of others who felt the same once they stuck it out past the first week. I highly recommend giving this gym a try. I genuinely do not think you will regret it, even if you are a complete beginner. I actually ended up staying in Southampton permanently largely because of Parity and the community here. Looking forward to welcoming you to the Parity family! P.S. My son absolutely loves the children’s classes. I genuinely couldn’t think of a better environment for him to grow up in, learning not just martial arts but the values that come with it and how to be a great person.

I can’t recommend Parity enough. As someone with a full-time job and a family, the 7 days a week schedule is a total game-changer. I officially joined last month after dropping into a few classes and open mats, and the environment is incredibly welcoming. The best part? The coaches are super understanding! I can bring my daughter along if I don’t have childcare, which makes it possible for me to actually show up and train. Facilities are incredible, great vibes and experienced coaching!
