Our kids are enrolled in little kickers. Rich and the staff are amazing with kids. Stern and fair. They are great with teaching life lessons in parallel with the lessons of martial arts. I’m am very happy we started our kids here and encourage others as well.

I’ve been training at this gym longer than I haven’t. I love the staff, I love the community, and I love the person it’s made me.

My entire family (including myself) have been going here for years and never had a bad experience. There's a variety of classes to fit inexperienced and experienced fighters, and you can learn/practice valuable skills while getting a great work-out. The pace is fast, but it's so fun that you hardly notice. For those concerned about not having prior martial arts experience, don't hesitate to come to class a few minutes early and introduce yourself to the instructor. The staff are very friendly and give great suggestions. I'm sure any of them would be happy to brief you on some starter techniques. I would highly recommend No Joke to anyone looking to learn self-defense, start a new sport, or simply get a great work-out!

This experience is based off a “free trial class” for 4-6 year olds. I would not recommend it if you have a young child. I brought my 4 year old to try it out before fully committing. The owner was extremely serious and abrasive. Immediately rushed my son over to the mat, pushed him into the bow position, without explaining anything and when he was a little nervous, he suggested he just watch because he was assuming he was going to interrupt the other kids, fine. We watched and he suggested we come back later to try again, fine. We come back. My son gets out there and is trying to follow along with the other kids. The owner says he was being “disruptive” (they were throwing punches he was just standing there watching) pulls him out because he’s not following along quite as well, gives him a speech about following directions, makes him say yes sir and suggests again he sit out, when he tries to walk out he pulls him by the hood and makes him sit back down. I understand discipline entirely, and he let me know verbatim they have no problem kicking your kid out of class if they aren’t following directions after one warning, but for such a young age group you think you would demonstrate a little patience. As someone who works with children on a daily basis I have never seen someone have such a lack of ability to build rapport with young children. Seems like they’re into making little macho soldiers, which may work great for some and I’m sure they offer some great classes for older age groups, but with a slew of other gyms in Rockford I wouldn’t settle for this one. One of his main points was, we don’t want to take away from the instruction of others because they’re paying for it, that’s fine, then don’t offer it, or offer it once a month or so with ONLY new people who don’t know what they’re doing.

This place is awesome. The owners and instructors are very helpful and want you to succeed. As a female, I feel empowered by what I have learned. I mostly attend the boxing classes, but they offer many classes at different times to work with people's schedules. And while I don't have any children of my own in classes, I have been there when the kid's classes have been. The instructors are awesome with the kids! So, if you are looking for a place for your kids or yourself to learn and workout, check this place out!
