My son has been training with Loris for over two years. It's been a wonderful experience. He loves it, the people there are awesome, and he's learned a lot. This is exactly what he needed.

I cannot say enough good things about this gym! Coach Ryan is so great with kids, he really guides each kid for what they need to achieve success. Its okay if your kids are shy or have never been in a group setting before, they will open up and shine like mine!!! A perfect place for kids and adults to train ❤️ Ryan is a wonderful coach and business owner!! Thankful to have a place where kids and adults are comfortable training to be their strongest selves! 💪

I was score keeping at a tournament this weekend where several of their kids were competing. They were amazing coaches. They kept a positive attitude and gave their kids clear instructions. It's rare to see coaches be calm, competitive, and caring at the same time. Great job guys. From what I watched this weekend, I would highly recommend them

Ryan and his team have definitely exceeded our expectations. I wasn't sure how our 4 and 6 year old would like Jiu-Jitsu, but they are always so excited to go! They have learned so much in just a short couple months. It is such a great environment for both the kids and adults. If you are on the fence about getting your child into Jiu-Jitsu, I highly recommend giving Loris a shot!

My son is an only child and really struggles with trying new things in front of people and just stepping out of his comfort zone. The environment here is perfect for him. He feels comfortable trying new things and doesn’t seem phased much when it doesn’t go perfectly for him. The instructors are firm but realistic for this age group. They are still treated like little athletes who have expectations to meet but… within reason. Many times my son struggles with something and he gets extra help but he is never treated like he’s broken or can’t do it. The instructors never give up on keeping the kids engaged and that is hard for the 5-7 age group! We couldn’t be happier

This place is great, maybe even a little beyond my capabilities. My previous gym was stuck doing nothing but fundamentals for a few years because too many new people kept coming in and any sense of curriculum just kept getting reset. Coming from that to here, I'm struggling to keep up a lot of the times I train, but that's a good thing. It gives me something to strive for. Here, it's more organized, more concentrated, and far less headache-ridden. It definitely helps that everyone is on the same page and the owner/head instructor actually cares about keeping people in.

I’ve seen so much growth in myself both physically and mentally since starting classes here, and I definitely recommend to anyone who wants to learn either self-defense or sport-oriented BJJ.

We’ve been with LorisBJJ for a couple of months. We joined to help my 8 year old daughter with her confidence, strength and determination with her dance. My 12 year old son with autism also joined for fun. In the time we’ve been there, I’ve seen both my kids grow leaps and bounds in every department. We always feel welcome by everyone when we are there. It’s a great learning experience and environment for anyone. I’d suggest Loris Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to anyone! Not to mention the community involvement and charity work I’ve seen them participate in, in only the short time we’ve been involved. Great asset to the area!

Ryan let me drop in for a class. He’s a very detailed instructor and was very enthusiastic as well. The class was great and the other students were very friendly too. I’d highly recommend Loris BJJ to anyone interested in grappling!

If you're looking for a place to learn jiu-jitsu in the Rockford area, you can't go wrong with Loris. Ryan is a very experienced, thoughtful, and open-minded teacher with a good head on his shoulders. I've personally learned from Ryan for 3 years now and I can vouch for the quality of his instruction. He is always looking to improve as a practitioner and as a coach. The facility is beautiful, the training is amazing, the environment is very healthy and friendly. Stop by Loris, train, and have fun!

I have trained jiu-jitsu on and off for about a 12 year period. A year here, 3 years there, with large breaks in between. I made the decision to go back about 6 months ago. I trained with Ryan years ago at another gym and wanted to check it out Loris to see how it was. Ryan is very knowledgeable and patient with his students. He is understanding of the skill levels of his students and pushes them accordingly. My wife also joined the gym. She has never done jiu-jitsu before and is thoroughly enjoying learning. I highly recommend this gym to anyone just beginning or is a high level jiu-jitsu practitioner.
