I had been training for 13 years previously before joining this gym. The environment is very friendly and welcoming. The coaches are all very knowledgeable and helpful. This is an amazing place to train whether you are looking for a great workout, to become competition ready, wanting to learn self defense, or you are just looking for a great team to be part of. Highly recommend and very glad I joined.

Our son has thoroughly enjoyed training with coach Jack the last 3 years! He has mastered many defensive skills and has developed a strong confidence in himself all thanks to Jack McVicker! This is a wonderful, welcoming martial arts program and I would highly recommend to anyone considering learning more about jiu jitsu!

Excellent gym environment and culture. The training is competitive, fun, and respectful. Jack (the instructor) is an excellent teacher, mentor, and friend. He works hard to make sure each student gets the best training they can get. He is patient, kind, willing to challenge and push you, and help you grow! I would recommend this gym for anyone wanting to grow in their jiu jitsu journey in Terre haute!

If you are looking to grow as an athlete and a person, there is no better establishment in the Wabash valley. Jack is not only world class in the art of combat sports, he is world class in his ability to develop character and mental fortitude. The men in the building are a testament to this. Great place for newcomers to the sport and veterans. Jack’s gym and coaches are all very welcoming people. The long time students are just as warm as well. Walking in for the first time can be intimidating but the environment and the vibe of the gym quickly washes that away within the first 5 minutes. If you’re interested in learning martial arts or just wanting to keep your body moving, I recommend this place 100 x’s over.

Over the last year I have been training with Coach Jack. I have gotten to know him and several regulars with the Academy. The environment is one that welcomes new faces and can tailor lessons to those with years of experience or no experience at all.. Over the last year my wife and closest friends have watched the changes in me and my body getting into an improved physical condition Jack allows and encourages everyone to train at their own pace. The Academy has several people with varying skills and experience and it’s great to work with each of them to gain experience and knowledge. Jack has over 30 years of experience and when he explains something he can share the why it works or not. Other Martial Arts Academy’s might be good but the experience he has simply cannot be matched.

I’ve taken my two children there only one time, yesterday, we will be doing the second trial class and I know for a fact we will sign up and continue to come. Jack was so kind and personable and works very well with children! I’m so excited!

McVicker’s is the only martial arts gym I’ve been in so far. That being said, I can’t imagine it being much better. (Attending primarily Tue and Thurs classes) Jack and Mark are two great coaches, super insightful and nice as well. The atmosphere and energy in the gym is really solid. The format of the classes are great and you can find awesome training partners everywhere you look.

Absolutely the best experience I've ever had with Martial Arts, at McVickers Martial Arts Academy you will be taught self defense mechanisms and learn how to properly fight and everyone you will meet will be very welcoming and supportive, definitely recommend McVicker's Martial Arts Academy!

Jack is a world class instructor who teaches amazing skills. I wish I had never dropped his class, I miss training. His stand up techniques are incorporated with modern day military techniques that are lethal. Truly a great instructor!

Been training at jacks for nearly 5 years now. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned grappler I promise you will feel welcome on the mats. Coach jack has a teaching style that will make you enjoy coming to class!! World class!!

Jack is a world class coach supported by highly competitive teammates. The connections and networking with this group of people reaches far. There is great respect in the martial arts world for this training and coaching. Anyone seeking to be a competitive BJJ competitor or mixed martial artist should seek out training. I started as a youth in the beginner classes and ended in the advanced classes. Through all of those experiences I was coached, cared for, and challenged to be my best.

Great instruction and a good atmosphere from the people. Beginner nights are Tuesday/Thursday and there's always at least an extra person there to help the new students. Price is pretty reasonable as well. Highly recommend getting a gi pretty early on as it makes a lot of the BJJ stuff easier.

Want to be the best? Train with the best! I've recently started training with Mr. Jack McVicker's and my experience has been nothing less than phenomenal. I've trained at other Jui-Jitsu gyms and they pale in comparison. Jack's Excellent training curriculum is excellent for all levels of your Mixed Martial Arts training. His students are friendly and eager to help new students. The abilities of the students are amazing. Jack's talent and ability shines through on all his students. Without reservation I'd highly recommend McVicker's Martial Arts training for anyone interested in learning Brazilian Jiu-jitsu or Jeet Keen Do. Residents near Terre Haute, IN. and Champaign, IL. are extremely blessed to have the ability to train under a World Class Champion. 5 Stars all the way!!!

Before moving back to Indiana the first bit of research I did was not for a job or a great school system for my kid. It was for the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training I could find. My research brought me to McVicker's Martial Arts in Terre Haute. The quality of training that I have received here far exceeded my expectations. Whether you want to get in shape, learn self-defense, meet new people, or become a competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, you will get it all here. Jack McVicker is a world champion and can mold you into one too.

Mcvicker’s Martial Arts provides world class instruction and a fun, clean, positive learning environment for all skill levels. Mcvicker’s Martial Arts offers classes for Jeet Kune Do, Fundamental Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Advanced Jiu-Jitsu. Mcvicker’s Martial Arts has a wide variety of students of differing skill levels and body types so that no matter your size or ability you will be able to roll with someone who will maximize your training.
