Marathon is a great place to train. Trey is a skilled martial artist, and an excellent instructor. He’s also a successful pro MMA fighter. The facility is large, with plenty of space for training and spectating. The mats and changing area are clean. All classes have a variety of skill levels, from beginners to pro fighters, white belts to black belts, and everything in between. The community of students is friendly and supportive! If you’re looking for a place to train, you should definitely check out Marathon.

Starting BJJ at Marathon Academy has been one of the most life-changing decisions I’ve made. After going through chemotherapy and facing the physical and emotional toll of cancer, I came into the academy feeling weak, out of shape, and with zero endurance. I was honestly just looking for a way to slowly rebuild myself. Three months later, I’ve found so much more than just fitness—I’ve found joy, confidence, and a true passion for BJJ. The environment here is incredibly supportive, and the people make you feel welcome from day one. Trey is nothing short of amazing. He has a rare ability to break things down clearly, explain the “why” behind every movement, and adapt to each student’s level and pace. He’s patient, encouraging, and genuinely cares about your progress—not just on the mats, but in life too. If you’re considering starting your BJJ journey—especially if you’re going through something challenging or starting from zero—I can’t recommend Marathon Academy enough. It’s more than a gym; it’s a place to rebuild and grow.

After almost a year at another BJJ gym in the area, we decided to check out Marathon for our kids (7 and 5). We were looking for a gym that would allow our 5 year old to participate however both of our children have several neuropsychological issues and we are always looking for places where they will thrive. Marathon is not an inexpensive investment and it took time for us to truly consider if it was “worth it”. I can honestly say that I am so glad that we figured out what to sacrifice to make it work. We have seen our kids bloom in ways we never imagined. We have met so many families that share similar values. The coaches for each discipline are absolute masters. The community is genuine, like… REAL. We have made family friends – multiple families whom we hang out with and enjoy in the gym and out! It is so special. And recently, I joined as well. The difference in my life is so important to me. I grew up in the projects in NYC and used to get in so much trouble. I have wondered so many times what would have happened differently for me had I had access to this outlet. I am a firefighter and we deal with a lot of job trauma, sleep exhaustion, etc… My anxiety levels have dropped and my dopamine levels have taken off. This sport, with these people… it is addicting and I can’t believe we get to be apart of what is happening at Marathon.

If you’re looking to Train MMA and/or BJJ this is the place to be! UFC Fighter and Head Coach Trey Ogden is an amazing person to train under- he is a highly detail oriented coach and cares about every practitioners progression in the sport. A true master of his craft. The Gym’s schedule is perfect for morning people and the night people getting off work and looking forward to sparring and rolling. For hobbyists and competitors, the environment that has been built at this gym is inspirational, everyone wants everyone to succeed in becoming the best martial artist that they aspire to be.

Both my son and I train here and we can’t say enough good things about this place. The coaches are fantastic, the training partners are awesome, and the facility is top notch. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never trained a day in your life or you are a black belt, you will have good training partners. Get in here and try it out yourself! You won’t regret it.
