AEGIS is one of the best martial arts classes in Leeds. Master Tasker and the team are extremely friendly, and the classes for the toddlers allow parents to get involved. The level of discipline taught in the classes is of a very high standard. There is no pressure to attend frequently—you can come at your own pace and watch your child's confidence improve while they master the skills of martial arts. Forever grateful to the team for their efforts and patience during the lessons!

My oldest boy started at AEGIS at 4 yrs old and youngest at 3 yrs old, now been attending for 4 and 3 years respectively and now in family classes. The boys are excited to come, we all really like the instructors who balance the comms style for teen/adults with the needs of the kids and get the know the individuals. The confidence they’ve grown coming is amazing, more importantly the instructors have helped guide and teach certain things when there’s been some bullying at school. Really recommend this for any age, gender and ability.

I enrolled my son in February purely for self defence. Not only has he learnt valuable new skills, his confidence has improved massively. Each and every one of the instructors are fantastic, always guiding and encouraging him. My only regret is that I didn’t enrol him sooner.

What can I say about this amazing place. Since our family joined in October 2025, we have thoroughly enjoyed it. When our 2 little ones were younger, they really struggled with their confidence and social skills. We came across AEGIS online and they talked about how martial arts can help increase your children’s confidence in themselves and give them vital social, life skills and discipline. This is precisely what AEGIS Leeds North has done for them both, they are genuinely confident now and happy to introduce themselves to new people all the time without getting scared. It has also done the same for me and my wife, we decided to go to some classes and we have never looked back. We are completely hooked. The instructors are amazing and so helpful. They explain things in such a straightforward manner that it’s easier to learn new skills. We genuinely couldn’t be happier with the experience and we look forward to many more years to come and for our whole family to achieve our dream of becoming black belt leaders!!

I absolutely love this gym! My two sons have been attending the tots classes, and I really respect the holistic approach they take. It’s not just about the physical side of martial arts; the instructors also take time to celebrate each child’s achievements throughout the week, which means so much to us. We’ve recently started doing the family classes, and I’m so impressed by how supportive and accommodating they are, especially with my youngest. He does have some challenges with concentration, but we feel really well cared for, and we’ve already seen improvements in his attention. With the help of the amazing instructors at AEGIS, we’re working on this consistently. My eldest child is progressing so well and really loves the discipline. It’s a perfect fit for him. We love it so much that my husband and I have joined the family classes too! I’m really enjoying it and looking forward to learning more about martial arts. I highly recommend this place! It’s been a wonderful experience for our whole family.

Aegis Leeds North has been a fantastic experience for my daughter who is 8 but started when 5. It’s more than a martial arts class it builds confidence, street smarts and the classes are run by expert martial arts teachers who are friendly, positive and encouraging. Would highly recommend it to adults and kids alike if you want to learn martial arts with an encouraging method and makes learning memorable.

This place will get you fit, is a great place to meet new people, and learn a new life skill. You get back what you put in and all the Instructors are all extremely knowledgable in Martial arts. I can not recommend it highly enough. We all love it! My sons are 6 and 9 now and they have been going for a couple of years. They are both really exited every single time it comes to time for class and this is so wonderful to see as a parent. The personal protection side of things is brilliant, however it’s the hidden things which you don’t obviously see which AEGIS are so good at and it’s slipped in to the routine in such a way it’s unnoticeable, however they are life skills which are so important for all people, not only the children like confidence and discipline. After watching the boys train for a year or so my wife and I joined them on the mat to help aide their development, but also because we could see the positives AEGIS was giving them. As a relatively unfit 40+ male with a history of injuries to my knees and shoulders, I wasn’t 100% sure if it was the most sensible thing to do, however they accepted us with open arms and helped me train, even adapting things at certain points for me so I could still train. My weight has dropped, my strength increased and confidence has improved no end, plus the wife enjoy getting to Give me the occasional whack every now and again. AEGIS is not only our club it is now an extended part of the family. Everyone associated with AEGIS Leeds North have been nothing but wonderful to us along our journey and have been there to pick us up when we’ve been down and also leant a shoulder to cry on when things have been a little tough. Not once did I feel we were being judged and nothing but genuine concern was being shown. Thank you AEGIS for all you’ve provided this far along the journey and here’s to many more years together....

Great fun for all the family! We joined in Nov 2019 as a family of 4 (2 kids aged 7 and 4) and we love the training (physical and behaviour/attitude) and the vibes of the team (coaches and classmates). The most impressive thing is how much people enjoy it, irrespective of their martial arts background (lots of experience in other martial arts previously or first ever experience)! A dedicated and passionate team of black belt instructors working amazing with juniors and seniors! Thank you guys! Strongly recommend to everyone out there to come and give it a go....
