My son is getting trained with them since the last two years and we are happy that we found this place . All the coaches are very supportive and encouraging all the time. My son enjoys every class and we feel very happy when he shows us the new techniques he has learnt. And above all he feels very confident now facing out the world. We extend our thanks to all the coaches and coach Magnus.
I have been coming for nearly 2 years and in those 2 years I have never had a bad experience. Magnus is a very supportive coach and helps a lot. Lewis (The muay-Thai coach) is also nice. The teachers never hesitate to support you if you need help. I would recommend.
My son has been attending Jiu Jitsu classes at Renowned since July 2024.He absolutely loves it! The coaches are amazing! The classes teach Jiu Jitsu in a fun and disciplined way.Would definitely recommend Renowned Gym to anybody thinking of joining for Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai classes!
Fourth year training here and still loving it. Great atmosphere, fantastic coaching, and Magnus is always there with expert advice. Highly recommend for anyone starting BJJ
Best place to learn Brazilian jujitsu/self defence the coaches r fantastic people r friendly I highly recommend..I havnt been for a while but I have friends who attend I have been working on my stand up (kick boxing at a local gym)I carnt wait to get bk to working on my ground work.( UPDATE.THIS WAS A GRACIE BJJ GYM)
I couldn't recommend Renowned school highly enough! The educational benefits for children are truly remarkable. From the moment my child stepped onto the mat, I noticed a positive transformation. I have been training at Gracie Barra Horsforth since May now and I absolutely love it, best decision I ever made. The standard of training coach Magnus provides is awesome and there is an ever-growing sense of community within the club. Highly recommend !
I’ve been attending GB Horsforth since June and honestly wish I’d joined sooner. I absolutely love it here and can’t recommend it enough. It was an extremely warm, friendly and welcoming environment to step into as a newbie, and I’ve since made great connections with my fellow classmates and coach. There’s a real social and community aspect to the training. The standard of the coaching and training is excellent. The way the classes are structured works really well, demonstrations are always clearly explained, and any questions are always answered. The space is clean and well maintained. It’s a great workout and skill set to develop too, it makes you feel like you’re really working towards something.
My son started attending this school because it was close to our home. I have no complaints about the coaching team, but the organisation of the classes this year was disappointing. Sessions regularly started late — sometimes by 5–10 minutes, and occasionally much longer. There were also times when parents and children had to wait outside in the cold and rain because the venue was still closed.
Communication in the group chat was not always timely, and missed training time was not fully made up for. In the end, we decided to stop attending because my son was not getting enough physical activity from the classes, and for me as a parent, value for money is important.
I would also like to make other parents aware that there is a mandatory one-month paid notice period when cancelling, even if the child no longer wishes to attend.
Magnus is a fantastic coach and person, super knowledgeable and a fantastic teacher. Great facilities also, price not terrible. The two stars is for safety. Far too many people coming out the gym with serious injuries, imho, caused by over promoting of belts who lack the control to roll safely. Not to say there aren't lots of great talented, people there too (there are) but everything needs to be slowed down and controlled better. Hopefully that can be addressed and I think this could be an amazing training facility.
