There is more than plenty of mat space, the rolls are always light hearted and tough, the instruction is very high level. My 5-year-old has been training at Lebre Jiu Jitsu for over a year now, and I honestly can’t imagine going anywhere else. We make the 30+ minute drive three days a week because the owners and instructors are not only incredibly experienced and knowledgeable but also genuinely kind, patient, and encouraging from day one. I was a little nervous at first—getting a toddler to follow instructions isn’t always guaranteed—but the instructors have a way of guiding the kids with ease. They balance patience with structure, ensuring that each child gets the attention they need while focusing on technique, safety, and skill development. Their gym is also incredibly clean and spacious. My daughter has absolutely flourished here. It’s the highlight of her week—and ours—because we love watching her improve and grow in this sport while feeling like part of the gym’s extended family. Her confidence and coordination have skyrocketed, and I credit that to the incredible team at Lebre Jiu Jitsu. His depth of knowledge and passion for the art really come through in every class. You can tell he genuinely cares about each student’s progress, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been on the mats for years. What’s also incredible about this place is the level of talent. There are some seriously world-class competitors here, which makes for an inspiring and motivating environment. My son, who was training in Texas, started at this gym when we moved here to San Diego back in Feb. He has shown tremendous growth and gained so much more confidence. I started training about a month ago. I have previous experience (years ago) and everyone in the academy has been amazing to work with while I dust off the cobwebs. Highly recommend Lebre Jiu-jitsu!
My 8 year old daughter has been coming to LeBre (recently rebranded) for just under 6 months, and it's been a fantastic experience for her. I know next to nothing about BJJ and have historically had little more than a passing interest in martial arts, but unlike a lot of activities I've signed my daughter up for, I don't need to know anything or do anything but watch: I can trust the instructors (professors) and the program to take care of her needs and develop and instruct my daughter. I've seen great progress in her in a short amount of time, and she has enjoyed both the staff and her fellow students.

High quality BJJ instruction for all levels. I started here on day 1 of my jiu jitsu journey, and the fundamentals I learned set me up for years of success to come. (Now I'm a brown belt.) If you're looking for a supportive environment where you're more than just a number, this is it.
Recently did a free trial and really like the studio and overall vibe. Good variety of training partners, solid instructions during technique sessions, mats were clean, and everyone seemed very nice. Prof Regis pulled me after the trial and had really nice things to say about the way I rolled. Very nice guy. Marco was working front desk and also seems like a solid dude as well. Can’t say enough good things about the place.

Gracie Humaita San Diego is an amazing facility. every year we have the Humaita meeting there and it is great. big mat space, clean, and Professor Regis and his team are always very welcoming! there are showers and big restroom/changing rooms. Thank you for everything, we hope to see you all soon!

Awesome experience dropping in here for training two nights in a row while I was in town for business. I was impressed with how fast Marco returned my call and how welcome he made us feel (I travel a lot, so I learned that most bjj gyms never get back to me when I reach out saying that I want to drop in). Marco’s fundamentals class was a lot of fun and full of great instruction. He watches everyone do the move individually and makes sure they get it. I was lucky to come in on a night when Master Royler Gracie was visiting. Got a first bump from him and some tips on the BJJ game. I also got a chance to meet Janaina Lebre who I watched take the first female GP on Flograppling the weekend before. She was the reason I wanted to visit this gym to say congrats in person which I got to do. Great experiences all around. Can’t wait to come back and train here again next time I’m in town. OSS.
Great place to train! High caliber instructors as well as overall chill and encouraging people in general who train here. Learned a ton in the short time I've trained at Gracie Jiu Jitsu and I'm hooked. Both Regis and Marco do a great job at tailoring the training to what your needs are. No one gets thrown in the cold water: need a bit more supervised drilling initially? You'll get it. Feel like you can spar sooner instead of waiting for after getting some stripes on your white belt? They'll see if you're ready and allow you to spar more and more. Everyone's very attentive to a good and safe training environment, but without losing any of the quality of training or the challenge that jiu jitsu should be.
Great place for anyone interested in starting their jiu-jitsu journey or finding a new home due to relocating. I have been training here for 3 yrs and i don't see myself going anywhere. lots of options regarding training times: they have morning, lunch, and night time training classes. Solid group of folks that allow a wide range of skilled training partners. Prof. Regis Lebre is a great instructor and techniques he teaches are great. I have personally brought over 2 friends to sign up and they both are about to complete their 1st year of training, they are hooked. would definitely recommend to others.
The best jujitsu in San Diego hands down
I have trained in jiujitsu on-and-off for several years and after training here for just over a couple of months I have seen a huge leaps and bounds in my skill level. The instructors here are top notch professionals that take the time to analyze and work with individuals. They are very approachable and care about developing and helping students grow. My 5-year-old son has also been attending for over two months. He usually goes to the Gracie La Mesa (sister gym of Gracie San Diego) and you will find the same level of professionalism there as well. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in jiujitsu to give this place a try. You won’t regret it!
