Very friendly and ok in the bigginin. Now we feel so unwelcome or I should say my children are not welcome. My 3 yearl old gets excluded ( picked on) on by the instructor and the classes are a mess, the older kids come during the toddler classe. There's hardly a focus on how to properly training thecnincs etc. We had a different instructor once, and he was amazing and all the children were focus and interested in class. They're were learning proper jui jitsu moves. Unfortunately gotta stay since I pay a year in advance.
Posted 2 months agoI came in for an open mat today and I had a great time. Everyone was super friendly and respectful, no one was very aggressive and kept the techniques and submissions smooth and classy. They are obviously running a good program and it shows through their students here. I was very happy to be there and I’m excited to go back for more fun. I highly recommend training here, great group of people!
Posted 5 months agoEvery time we have the opportunity to visit San Diego our first and last stop is 99HQ. We had the opportunity of learning from Prof. Telles, Sergio, and Paulo on this visit. We also had so many high level rolls it was amazing, humbling and exhausting. If your interested in learning Jiu-Jitsu or you're an advanced competitor i highly recommend training here or at least visiting. Thanks Prof. Telles you're the best!
Posted 5 years agoExcellent BJJ Academy! Professor Tellis is a Legend in BJJ for being for being an innovator of techniques (turtle/octopus guard), World Champion (still competes after 2 decades), and has trained numerous World Champions (Cobrinha/Galvao). He and his former business partner of TT Team (Fernando "Terere" Augusto) changed the current tournament scene with new combative BJJ strategies and techniques. Professor Tellis is genuinely sincere and caring to all of the students. Ego's are checked, student's safety is a priority, and the mats are disinfected after every class. Also, you will never know which world champion or soon to be world champion will be rolling on the mats from Mica Galvao to Buchecha. Come try a class out and give his son Jason (manager) a call today! (I have been involved with martial arts for 50 years, Academy owner for 40 years and have trained with Professor Tellis for almost 10 years now).
Posted 6 months agoThe most chill place to train BJJ in San Diego. All the black belts are welcoming and supportive of the lower belt's journey.
