I am a masters 3 hobbyist BJJ practitioner. I have visited Atos headquarters twice and have always received a very warm welcome. The professors are well known figures in the jiu jitsu world. All of them have been super kind, patient and welcoming to me. Being an older hobbyist, my skills are nowhere close to the people I got to roll with at Atos, but everyone was friendly and provided invaluable feedback on my techniques. I would highly recommend people of all skill levels to try out classes at Atos. You will have a great experience, I guarantee it. I look forward to visiting again.

This review is long overdue... In 2022, at the age of 50, after a 10 year layoff from jiu jitsu due to my commitments in corporate Korea, I decided to end my corporate career in Korea and restart my jiu jitsu journey. But plagued with a history of injuries, I wanted to get my jiu jitsu to a level where training with anyone young or old would be easier than it had been in the past. To achieve this goal I needed to learn from the most talented jiu jitsu practitioners in the world and my research led me here to Atos HQ. After seeing Andy Murasaki's double gold performance as a brown belt at the Pan American Championships on Youtube, I knew that Atos HQ was where I wanted to train in order to achieve my goals so I dusted off my old purple belt, packed my bags and moved to San Diego from Korea to restart my jiu jitsu journey. From day 1, the professors, students and staff were very welcoming and friendly -- genuinely making me feel like I was part of the team. The one thing that stood out at Atos HQ besides the super effective and efficient jiu jitsu was that the black belt professors not only taught the classes but also trained with their students during the sparring session. Based on my experience, this is not common practice especially in such a world class gym. In most academies the black belt professors will lead the general classes and train in the competition class only but here at Atos HQ, you have the opportunity to roll with world class black belts like Andy Murasaki, Jonnatas Gracie, Rolando Samson, Rafael Silveira, Joao Mendes and Gustavo Batista where they roll with you at 'your' speed then help fix your mistakes and improve your game after the roll which has been vital in helping me improve my jiu jitsu. In my many years of training, I have met some of the greatest athletes in jiu jitsu. I have noticed that many let their fame get to their heads but here at Atos HQ, all the world champions I have met have been genuinely good people so it has been easy to make friends here. Whether you're new to jiu jitsu, coming from another academy, or restarting your journey after a long layoff like I did, this is one of the best places to train in the world and the best city to live in the U.S. in my opinion.

Friends/acquaintances I know said to try out Jiu-jitsu since back home from Guam. I didn't put much thought into it until a coworker encouraged me to give it a try. It's been 4 weeks now training at Atos HQ here in California, and I'm more motivated to hone the techniques I learned. The professors and coaches are knowledgeable and thorough with their technique lessons. The other students are fun to train together, honing our techniques and whatever styles we are fit for. Overall, I'm enjoying the lessons, the people I meet/training with, learning something new, improving myself, and with the art style based on my body weight now vs later in the future. Attended the BJJ Fanatics camp last month at Atos HQ and it was absolutely amazing! Professors Andre, Lucas and Andy were welcoming, helpful and provided amazing instruction that was broken down in a way that was easy to understand and they always made sure you understood the "why?". The culture at Atos is amazingly inclusive, the facility is amazing and you can feel the passion for Jiu Jitsu from the instructors. Its also not everyday you get individual attention from a legend! What makes the Atos BJJ dojo great isn't just the fact that it is where World Champions come to further train and evolve the sport, but it also has a great community that are welcoming and inclusive to newcomers such as myself. Having no prior martial arts experience, everyone here has been helpful in terms of how to get started in this sport. If you're reading this and are interested, Atos also has a 3-day free trial! I wished I had utilized the most out of the free trial at first by going to the 6am morning class, then followed up by the 4pm and 6pm class. (Only if your body can take it) Great community, fantastic instructors, and I feel safe training jiu-jitsu here. Can't ask for a better white belt experience!

There is no place on Earth like Atos!! I started training in another gym a few years ago and then after taking more than a year off for Covid I decided that I need to do the trial at Atos and see what it is all about. Of course, I’ve seen the social media videos of all the Atos superstars but I didn’t know if Atos would have the environment that I was looking. Without going into too much detail, as soon as I walked in the doors for my trial I knew that it was the place for me. Not only is the instruction fantastic, not only are the facilities amazing, not only are there tons of classes available to fit your schedule…on top of all that the PEOPLE at Atos are some of the nicest you’ll ever meet. Some of my closest friends that I’ve made in San Diego have come from this amazing Jiu jitsu Mecca. If you’re new to Jiu jitsu, have been training for years, or are just in town visiting you MUST pay a visit to Atos and see why so many of the world’s best fighters and the world’s kindest people train at Atos HQ.

Been training here for over a year! Tough competition, excellent training, super dope culture that consists of “the grind”, respect, empowerment, & of course toughness. The academy is clean, it has an eerie atmosphere that’s kinda indescribable, you know if you train there. Honestly, I’ve met some great people training at Atos. One thing I really wish was that the training sessions could be more interactive, more intimate, and more personal. I understand that the academy has many students (which is why I feel that this can be improved) The whole process is super streamlined and legit nonetheless, but I feel like sometimes the professors don’t even know my name and I’ve been training there for over a year.

ATOS HQ BJJ Academy in San Diego has a very large and diverse group of men, women and kids of all belts to train with. Professor Andre Galvo sets a humble, ethical and professional expectation for all his Professors (instructors). A newcomer will be welcomed with the same respect as an elite athlete so don't be intimidated. You will also find many students to be respectful training partners. The kids and women's classes are also awesome. My 13 yo daugher started in the kuds class a 4 years ago where Professor Galvo spent nearly 45 minutes with her. They training facilty,, especially the mats, are very clean. Mats are cleaned multiple time per day. You may leave sweaty but you won't leave with a dirty Gi. There are multiple classes to attend Monday through Friday and open mat on Sat. There are also many Brown and Black belts available for private instruction. Oh, did I mention, I am 57 yo and started 3 years ago. The camaraderie is amazing. ATOS gets a 10 out of 5.

My whole family trains at Atos. My son and I both are training and competing regularly to become World Champions, my wife trains for self defense because she has a high risk job where she deals with dangerous patients. We get to learn from and spar with high level competitors and World Champions every day. Also my teenage son is a full time practitioner and coach. The best thing for my son is the the Champion mindset and positive role models he's around and learning from that are of the highest ethics, values, and morals. Also I must say as a Navy Diver I've met some incredible human beings in the military special operations communities and my life. Andre Galvao is not just a multiple time World Champion in Gi and No Gi, not just a great Athlete, Father, a man of god, but the most altruistic, heartfelt, brave dudes I've had the pleasure to call my friend. 1. They offer classes that cover the full spectrum of students, from those who have never set foot on a mat all the way to world champion-level training! Andre and all the instructors are top tier and breakdown even the toughest techniques to much easier levels. I’ve learned a great deal in my time here. My jiu jitsu has grown and evolved so much and I have my teammates and instructors to thank for that. This is the best place in the world to train Jiujitsu. They don’t just have the best instructors but also the most humble and encouraging. Atos Jiujitsu HQ has an excellent environment for learning and growth not just in Jiujitsu but overall as a person. Very highly recommended!

Will definitely come back here again to train! Although I came to train at Atos solo, they really foster a strong family friendly atmosphere - so I was immediately made to feel welcome coming from a different gym and city entirely. I came during Gi worlds, however still had quality instruction. Shout out to coaches Mike Perez, Fred and Calon for world class techniques and hospitality. And also a shout out to Laura at reception for being so helpful! If you are a hobbyist or competitor, you'll have no trouble finding your feet here.

Best place for kids to train, this place is a factory for little Jiu-Jitsu monsters, they treat the kids with respect and love, but they teach complex techniques and don't treat them like babies, they are taught submissions and how to tap right away, truly excellent Jiu-Jitsu teachers. They do offer a one week trial if you're on the fence.

Atos is home. I value the instruction and commitment to the sport and martial art that Professor Andre Galvao displays through his daily habits and self. It’s a inspiration and not only him but the multiple champions and overall team. If your a beginner, advanced and/or looking to get the best experience out of your self through challenging training or through technique and learning the art, then Atos HQ is a great place to invest. I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu for over a decade and have been fortunate enough to visit academies from all o we the world. Without a doubt, Atos HQ is the best Jiu Jitsu academy on the planet. It doesn’t matter if you want to be a world beater, or just enjoy training for the fun of it, you won’t find a better atmosphere of more welcoming individuals. The instruction quite literally cannot be topped anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Best place I’ve ever trained at and I’ve been doing Jiu Jitsu for 7 years. Very friendly training environment and has many people at different skill levels for if you want to train as a hobby or if you want to be a world class competitor. Andre and Angelica have been amazing representatives of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! I’m in law enforcement and I continue to get everyone I work with to come train and learn this essential martial art.

The ability to have these instructors breakdown your game and give you feedback is an amazing and rare opportunity which should not be missed. Beautiful, clean facility; professional & friendly staff. My son & I each did one drop in session while on vacation & we enjoyed it very much. Professor Mike was easy/great to learn from. I wish there were more than 5 stars that I could give to Atos! If you’re ever living/visiting San Diego, I definitely recommend checking out this awesome gym!

I was visiting from out of town and dropped in to train. I have followed the academy on social media and am a huge fan of professor Galvao. Instruction during the class well delivered and understandable with quality detailed. The coach walked around and spent good quality instruction time with everyone. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We rolled a few rounds and the students were very sound and skilled! If I were staying in the area I would definitely come back.

I visited quite a few famous academies in San Diego, there are really great options. Atos stand out as the most structured and well organized. Andy Murasaki from Atos “kicked my child out and told him: Do Not be back” after this professor was forcing my child to fight with a boy “12 levels higher who also has been openly bullying him. My child told professor Andy the bullying from such boy and even that such boy has been fits punching him on the face, and that I, his mom did not want him to fight with such bully-boy. But this professor response was: - "I DON’T CARE WHAT YOUR MOM SAYS !! Get Out of the class and Do Not be back" another mom was also started talking with this professor and told him that No other coach ever has done this, specially when a child is afraid for his safety but Mr. Andy Murasaki said that: - He will kick him out again! Admin heard ALL and did Nothing! is extremely disappointing this happens at a high prestige gym specially coming from such nice family as the Galvao family.
