  After my last gym closed, I was searching around for good place to train. I'm happy I found this place! Since day one, it has felt like home. Prof. Miah is always there, avilable, and helpful to improve my Jiu Jitsu. There are a wide range of skill levels and everyone gets to roll with and learn from each other. Other students are fantastic. No meatheads! Just good people that like to train hard and help others. I highly recommend. You will definitely improve.

  I can’t say enough about how amazing this gym is—truly a hidden gem. Professor Jeremiah’s Jiu-Jitsu is on another level, and his ability to teach and connect with his students is incredible. This was our third visit, and this time, I brought my 8-year-old son along. He and his team welcomed us with open arms, the training was top-notch, and the vibe was perfect.

  Professor Miah, a Coast Guard veteran, is an excellent coach who has a clear talent for teaching. At this relatively new and competitive BJJ gym, he is the only professor, teaches every class, participates in training, and thus you often get the chance for rolls and significant amounts of coaching. He has an uncanny ability to identify your most significant issue and help you address it on the spot. Coming here as a blue belt that could initially only commit to drop-ins, I was warmly welcomed, integrated, and received coaching even though I was not an official student of Miah’s. Even though I am a hobbyist with too many real life responsibilities, Coach Miah has invested in my journey as much as any other student. In addition, the technical ability of his white and blue belt students are impressive and a testament to his coaching. They compete frequently and have a knack for bringing gold medals back. The friendly environment at Kansept draws everybody from white belt to black belt, from Jiu Jitsu gyms across the island, to their weekly open mats and competition class, which to me is another testament to the reputation that Kansept has.

  I am very grateful for the people making me a part of their team after my gym closed. Coach Miah is concise at giving directions from ranging from beginners through active competitors alike. Class is direct with ample live training time to focus on being able to giving members advice to practice and troubleshoot technique.   After the school I was going to closed, I heard about Kansept through some training partners and decided to check it out. The students there are super legit! Coach Jeremiah is very helpful, and he helps each student individually throughout class to make sure they’re getting their techniques down. I’m excited to continue working on my skills and getting better at jiu jitsu!

  Kansept BJJ has been the perfect gym for me to learn the basics in an environment where I feel comfortable and receive enough attention to properly execute techniques. Professor Miah does a great job breaking down drills/techniques to help us learn the moves while also teaching his students how to think about the cause/effect of each positions to build our “BJJ IQ”. I think this is missing in a lot of popular BJJ gyms and the Kansept Intro class is perfect for beginners that are starting from ground zero and want to build a strong foundation from a conceptual approach. 10/10 recommend.

  Having been away from the islands for 3 years, I was worried that I would not be able to find a gym. My brother who began his BJJ journey at Kansept introduced me to Professor Miah, and I couldn't have been more stoked. I learned a lot during my short time here. I thoroughly enjoyed the instructions, the curriculum, and the individualized attention to detail for his student's game. Thank you Professor Miah for allowing me a place to train. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a gym as well!

  My husband and I were travelling through Hawaii on our Honeymoon and visited Kansept Academy during our stay. The team were extremely welcoming and friendly.   This is my son Kana, he’s 7 years old and has been attending KÄNSEPT Academy since July of this year. Despite only being here for a short amount of time, he absolutely loves it!! He loves his coaches and looks up to both of them with admiration. The coaches keep classes fun and exciting and the kids are always leaving with smiles on their faces. A little backstory, Kana had been going through a tremendous amount of emotional stress. His little light was dimming and I felt completely helpless. Then, if things weren’t already a challenge for him, a boy two grades higher than him decided to pick on him unprovoked. I told him to tell the teachers and staff if it continues. Well, that other child heard my son telling on him and waited until the faculty was not around. He came from behind and bear hugged Kana’s neck, actually lifting both of his feet off the ground. Kana was upset by the entire encounter. He was scared to go to school and it affected him tremendously. So, when I was scrolling on IG one day, and stumbled across the ad I was stoked to find out that it was located close by our new place. We had tried out other places before but the issues were more with commute, availability, frequency, and cost. This academy fit our families schedule and it was the right fit for Kana. He tells everyone about jiujitsu and is so stoked to come to class. His little light is starting to brighten again and he is so very happy with meeting everyone. Thank you for restoring confidence in my little SON-shine!! We look forward to the future with Känsept!

  Visited Kansept Academy while visiting on vacation. I was unable to train due to injury but I watched my brother train. Coach Miah was very friendly, welcoming, and I can really see his influence on his students, as they were all the same way. Everybody treated both of us like we were family and there wasn’t a moment of awkwardness. I’m glad I was able to visit because it now gives me more reason to come back to Hawaii!

  I actually found out about Kansept Academy through a friend! Their intro class makes it very easy to transition into the basics of what jiu jitsu is.   What a welcoming dojo. From the first time you walk in, Prof. Miah was courteous and precessional. First roll at one mat was with him. He rolled professionally and made me work and think about positions and moves he was trying to achieve. Gave me some pointers that’ll help with smashing lol. Students there were friendly and rolled at a good pace. If you are on Honolulu make sure to drop in and get some rolls. The aesthetics are very well put together. Lot of details and a modern look. This will definitely be my drop in place. Thank you

  If you are looking for a Jiu-Jitsu school I would definitely check out Kansept Academy. My hubby and I took a class here during our vacation in Oahu. Miah, the owner, is a highly skilled black belt. He gave thorough instructions during the technique portion of the class and provided helpful tips to the students during sparring. I met students of various ages from a female in her 20s to a gentleman in his 50s. I felt comfortable as soon as we stepped in the door as the students were both friendly and welcoming. This is the place to learn if you are ready to embark on your Jiu-Jitsu journey.

  When I first wanted to try BJJ, I found Kansept Academy at first through an Instagram Ad. I looked through most of the BJJ academies and schools near me and thought Kansept would be the best fit for me. The intro program made by Miah is well made and perfect for any beginner. Kansept Academy for me so far has been an amazing experience. The environment, the people, and what is taught is next level.

  Jiu Jitsu brought out a confidence and fortitude in me that I didn’t think I could obtain. I feel more secure in protecting myself as a woman. More aware and in tune with what my body is capable of. The mental challenge… you need to experience for yourself. It’s addicting.   Kansept academy is THE place to train on the island ! Coach Miah is highly skilled and passionate about what he does. His gym provides a friendly and professional environment for all levels. The academy is clean and aesthetically pleasing. Classes involve dynamic warm ups, learning the technique of the day, drilling the concepts, and then positional sparring to apply the techniques in real time. We are visiting from LA and dropped in for a class, we truly enjoyed our time here and cannot wait to come back to train next time we are back in Oahu.   I am originally from South Korea and have been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a brown belt for over 8 years. I am currently here on my honeymoon, and plan to train in BJJ while in Hawaii.
