Most Hawaii tournaments take place on Oahu, in and around Honolulu, with Hilo on the Big Island also hosting events. Competitors from the other islands usually travel to Oahu for the bigger shows.
Jiu Jitsu Quest Hawaii is the most frequent recurring event. Grappling Industries Hawaii and the FUJI BJJ Hawaii Winter Open also return regularly, and NAGA runs separate Hawaii championships for kids and for teens and adults.
Gi divisions are a little more common than No-Gi, and close to a third of events offer kids divisions. Fees vary by event, with adult entries roughly $32–$129. November is the busiest month, followed by December and March.
