I was visiting my in-laws and wanted to get some training in. I try to drop in at new gyms whenever I travel, and I’m really glad I found Grey Wolf. What stood out to me right away was the welcoming atmosphere. Ainsley led the class with a constraints-based approach that made learning both fun and effective. The structure was solid — we flowed from stand-up to ground, and every part of the session had purpose. Highly recommend to anyone passing through or looking for a gym with thoughtful instruction and good vibes.
Posted 1 year agoIf you are looking for a great place for your child or yourself to learn Jiu-Jitsu this is the place. The best part is the hyper attentive instruction that is perfectly balanced by no micro management. Trial by fire with the perfect amount of aid needed to succeed. Five stars is not enough.
I travel for a living, so it's hard at times to get into a local gym for BJJ lesson (s). Grey wolf was very welcoming, Step by step instructions to be able to get a session in. Much appreciated.
I’ve been going to Grey Wolf for a few months now and it’s been great. The instructors are great at breaking such a challenging sport into digestible bits. The classes are fun and the other students welcoming. Overall, I’d recommend Grey Wolf to anyone looking to learn something new and expand their community.
My experience at Grey Wolf has been nothing but exceptional. It’s a very welcoming gym and Professor Michael is an amazing educator that carefully crafts each session that builds on week after week. Pretty solid spot. Everyone there are friendly and always willing to help each other improve. Can’t get any better than that.
Great place to train would recommend this gym to anyone wanting to train jiujitsu or trying it out for a first time.
The instructors are generous teachers and very kind. It's a really good atmosphere. I always come home having learned something new and affective.
Highly recommended! I started my BJJ journey at Grey Wolf Brazilian Jiujitsu last year as someone without any prior martial arts experience. Prior to joining, I was afraid of not being able to fit in, worried about not being able to make it, and scared of being embarrassed in front of others. My first free class really impressed me with the friendly, family-oriented environment and the professor/owner’s strong desire to help the students succeed regardless of their comfort/experience levels. Professor Michael Yi and all of the students in the class are very helpful in giving instructions patiently to new students, as well as promoting an encouraging and challenging learning environment for everyone. If you are looking for a place to meet awesome people and reduce stress while training yourself both physically and mentally, I’d recommend you to look into trying it out, and hopefully joining our class at Grey Wolf Brazilian Jiujitsu.
When searching for a school/gym…from just starting out or new to the area (like me)… personally, it took me forever but I knew what type of environment I was looking for to continue my journey. I reached out via Facebook then planned a day to come in and watch a class (you will be asked if you want to participate/drill in a class as well) I talked to a few folks including the professor/owner Michael Yi on my first drop in. There was NO pressure signing up. Professor made time for me to chat as well. Don’t be afraid to say hello! Everyone here will be more than happy to help you with any questions or concerns you may have! A few things that WILL MAKE YOUR decision easy… -Safe, clean and a BIG space to learn! -Amazing and kind people from all walks of life. It is extremely humbling! -No pressure in doing competitions (the school will support you- no matter what you choose to do on your BJJ journey) -Variety of classes and a very flexible schedule! 2.5 years later and I consider everyone at this school like family. If this seems like a place for you…Come check it out! Grey wolf is just right! Cheers!
Just starting out and have found the community very helpful and fun. I hope to keep it up for a long time!
I’ve trained at a few bjj gyms in my time. This one is my favorite. Lots of people to spar with. And everyone is nice and helpful. Good competition scene also. Kids class is big and my daughter trains there as well. She loves the kids program and striking.
Visited the academy with my brother while passing through town. Professor Michael was welcoming and went out of his way to show us extra details while drilling. Friendly atmosphere.
Professor Yi is knowledgeable, professional, welcoming and kind. All the students at Grey Wolf BJJ mirror the same qualities. If you’re looking for a new place to train or you’re exploring the option of starting Jiu-Jitsu, you can’t go wrong giving Grey Wolf Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu an opportunity.
Today was my first day here and everyone was super friendly. The professor is very knowledgeable, and made class fun. I'm excited to continue my jiu jitsu journey here.
My 7 year old is enrolled here. They have classes for all ages and levels of experience. The dues are affordable and it's great for both boys and girls. Instructor is very knowledgeable and patient with beginning students. It's a very welcoming atmosphere and I highly recommend it.

This is a very friendly place. Nice people eager to share their knowledge in an easy going family atmosphere.
This place is excellent, Professor Yi is very knowledgeable and great with students at all levels.
My 5 year old daughter took Professor Mike's classes and he was very good with her. He does a great job at making sure the children are paying attention, teaching them in a way that is easy for them to understand and simplified enough for their body coordination to implement the techniques.
I've been training at Grey wolf for a week and I couldn't be happier with how it is going. I feel like I've just become part of a big family, it's so great! The professor is super friendly and takes the time to get to know the new students. The mats are clean and well maintained. Definitely check this place out if you're in Eugene.
Grey wolf is a very clean, welcoming, and respectful environment. Everyone is amazing and like a big family. Especially Mike, he is a great coach/professor. I can't imagine ever training anywhere else. I originally found Grey wolf bjj because it was close to my house. I've since moved and live twenty minutes away but I will continue to make the drive, it's definitely worth it. If you are looking for somewhere to train, Grey Wolf Bjj is definitely a good place to start :)
Would 100% recommend. I have never been to a place full of such helpful and all around amazing people. Professor Mike is a great teacher and you can really tell how passionate and dedicated he is. He is also always willing to answer questions for anyone who may still be confused about what's going on in class. All in all, I encourage anyone reading this to give this place a visit if you haven't yet, I am confident that you won't regret it.
Just recently began my BJJ journey with Professor Yi at Grey Wolf BJJ. Everyone there is so welcoming! Although I have only attended two classes so far, Professor Yi's teaching has been clear, informative, and easily absorbed. One thing that stands out about Grey Wolf BJJ is the mutual respect between Prof. Yi and his students, and amongst the students themselves. The hierarchical organization of the ranking system does not inhibit learning at Grey Wolf because Prof. Yi respects his students as both growing practitioners and as individuals to the same degree his students respect him. Grey Wolf BJJ and Prof. Yi are doing a fantastic job at making Jiu-Jitsu accessible and affordable for all ages.
Huge shoutout to Professor Mike and the entire wolfpack. Great group of ninjas, humble with seamless technique. If you're ever in Eugene, stop by and tell em Nate sent you.
I dropped in from out of town for a class at Grey Wolf. Professor Yi and his students couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. Great atmosphere and a clean gym. Will definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in the area.
