There are great fundamentals classes and once you get more experience, there are many great training partners at all levels. The facility is nice and always clean. I've recently started training here after spending time at another BJJ school. I have been training three different combat sports seriously for 3-10 years and understand that this is all about putting in the work. What I like about Gracie Sports is that they really believe in drilling and reviewing technique. I'm a big believer in getting a lot of reps in to get technique down. Otherwise I just use bad technique over and over again in live rolling. This is also a beautiful and well maintained facility; one of the nicest I been a part of, or visited. The professors are all great and generous with their time. There are no egos nor old-school/harsh teaching styles. I'm excited to have found this place. I'm new here but so far, I'm a big fan.
BJJ @ Gracie Sports has been nothing but an absolute pleasure. The instructors are always early to class, incredibly friendly, and always willing to explain techniques countless times after class etc. Everyone at Gracie Sports has been supportive, friendly and really there for each other throughout training. I have been in a couple of martial arts gyms. This is the first one where you can feel a sense of community. Besides, it had top notch techniques coming from a true legit lineage.

+40 y.o. and I've been here about +4 years - can't say enough good things about Prof. Thyago, Ivo, Andrew, and of course Master Marcio. Started as a noob white belt with a boxing background (which has almost no carry over) and approximately zero grappling knowledge—and now I'm a purple belt. I always learn a lot and have a ton of fun in class and now the professors just try and wrist lock me lol.
One of the best workouts I’ve ever had, instructive and very helpful.
My son is very playful but struggles with remaining focused unless it’s Paw Patrol etc as many 3 year olds do. The instructors do a great job making the lessons fun while keeping structure. At times there is range between size and skill levels between age groups however each class flows effortlessly. They do a phenomenal job catering to each child’s individual needs no matter if they are aggressive or shy.

There’s no substitute, no need to look further. Let me explain— Master Marcio “Macarrao” Stambowsky of Gracie Sports is a martial arts legend in Gracie Jiu from Brazil. Marcio “Macarrao” is one of the top five black belts to be named the “Fabulous Five”under the legendary Rolls Gracie, and he is also the father of one of the best and current professional MMA fighters in the world, Neiman Gracie. With all that said, it is an absolute honor to train at this academy, but I feel equally blessed to have my young boys training with such an accomplished man and team of top-shelf professors. The experience has brought much learning, light, and fulfillment to our lives. I have been going to Gracie sports for about half a year and have had a great experience. The professors are all very nice and friendly not to mention they are very knowledgeable. Plus they had a great guest instructor this week. Jungle, he was very nice and showed us some great techniques

The professors at this location are the best! Since we’ve signed up our son we’ve noticed a huge improvement in his discipline, attention span and following directions. The professors are so patient, and professional but loving at the same time.

5 stars all the way. When I first moved to CT from NYC I was nervous about leaving the NYC jiu jitsu scene, and I quickly realized I was wrong. Gracie Sports is as legit as it gets. Master Marcio and Deborah are pioneers and very welcoming. Thyago is an awesome instructor day to day who knows how to cater the classes to who is on the mat. It is very common for him to show some basics to the lower belts, but then add more advanced tricks for the higher belts to keep everyone engaged. The environment is welcoming and fun for new people with no experience, but also the right amount intense for higher level belts that want to train hard. If you are in the area, I am confident in saying this is the spot, new or experienced. Good people, good instruction, good rolls, and good vibe.

I can’t call into question the veracity of the so-called “letter” that some are quickly taking as fact, but while that gets settled, I’ll mention that my brief interactions (limited to attending seminars at an affiliate) with Marcio have been great. It’s clear that the guy is super knowledgeable. He breathes and lives by this stuff and wants the sport to continue growing.

Gracie Sports (Fairfield/Norwalk) is the place to go for learning jiu jitsu and all types of grappling. Top notch facilities and great instructors/professors. They are very welcoming from the moment you walk in and you're learning from the best. Marcio (founder of Gracie Sports) is one of the highest ranking teachers in the world for Jiu-Jitsu, is a part of the Gracie family (legendary name in MMA) and he is also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He's put together a great team of instructors in both locations who echo that. The facilities are clean and the Gracie Sports community is very welcoming. I wouldn't go anywhere else if you're looking to learn jiu jitsu or if you're an advanced grappler!
For those new to the sport, this gym is directly run by the Gracie family, the absolute golden standard for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu quality and excellence. For the past 10 years I have been consistently impressed by the talent, competence, and strong ethics of the Norwalk and Fairfield instructors, as well as management's strong emphasis on continuous improvement. I'd be hard-pressed to name a better mix of professionalism and sincere warmth anywhere. Very thankful for finding this place!

An outstanding group of professors create an amazing environment to learn and build confidence and camaraderie
We just started a few weeks ago with my 3 kids and I’m really impressed so far. The staff are very warm and welcoming which is important to me. They are so good with the kids - they make an effort to say hi or give a high five to each one and are happy to see them. I’ve also seen how they comfort the little kids when one got hurt and they help them feel better. They are great teachers and my child with ADHD is doing well in this class too. Jiu Jitsu seems to be the most practical martial art to use in the real world - my kids are learning how to defend and protect themselves and are having a great time doing it. They love running around with the games they play. There is a good mix of fun and instruction. You can call ahead and sign up for a free class. Then to join there is a monthly fee and you can come as often as you want. They have kid classes 6 days a week which is convenient to go on any days that fit your schedule from week to week. I also hope to join one of the beginner women’s classes now too.
Myself and all 3 of my kids train here. It’s a very special place with incredible professors, coaches and Master. I highly recommend for kids and adults.
My son started the sport at the age of 4. In the first weeks, even the school teachers noticed the difference in his behavior. He didn't communicate very well, and every time he got frustrated, he acted pushing or pulling his friends. After starting jiujitsu, he could improve his self-confidence, helping him understand and respect his classmates more. I highly recommend Brazilian Jiujitsu for all kids. It’s a fun and disciplinary sport that can help kids in self-defense and self-esteem.

I did bjj prior to having kids and always wanted them to learn. We did a trial at Gracie sports bjj and I immediately signed them up. The instructors are all phenomenal. The way they break down the exercises for the kids is simple and to the point. The building blocks for them to get better are planted and am optimistic that by going regularly to class, they will grow to become better. Super glad my kids are in it. It definitely boosts confidence and we have made several good friends there as well. It's def like a pseudo family there and I hope my kids continue on the path of bjj
Both my daughter and son started a few weeks ago and love it! I can see a difference in my son’s confidence. The Professors are great with the kids and make it so much fun. I also joined and it’s a great workout. They definitely promote community and it’s been exciting to see the kids learn jiu-jutsu. It builds mental, physical endurance and it will prepare them for the real world.

I have been training at Gracie Sports BJJ Fairfield for 2 weeks now. From my first introductory class to now the professors have been nothing but supportive and welcoming. They’re extremely knowledgeable and take the time to show and teach you the positions. In a short period of time i already feel i have learned a lot. Their is a sense of family and warmth here. It makes you want to go back. I know i’ll be training here for many years.

This is an excellent place to not only to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from a world renowned legend, Master Marcio Stambowsky, it's a great place to forge life long friends. I've been a student at Gracie Sports for over 3 years now, and I can't think of a better place to train your mind, body, and soul. All walks of life train here. All different people, and ultimately, all develop a sense of family and comraderie. You don't have to have experience in Martial arts, and you don't have to be in shape. You just bring a positive attitude and a will to learn.

Deborah is completely unhinged. Avoid this place, the culture is obviously terrible. Response to below: The letter was received by mail directly to the rival gym owner. The cultlike nature of your gym is well known and noone who’s had experience with you is at all surprised by it. Its even written in the way you speak.
Very unprofessional people, the Master is never there, they send letters threatening other gyms around, they don't teach a high level bjj they just want your money, it was a very poor experience for me.
