I had the opportunity to drop into the 11am class this morning and had a great time. The team at Gracie Barra was welcoming and professional and the gym itself was clean with lots of space. Rolling with their team was a blast and learned a lot. Thanks again guys :-)

When I first joined GB Hayden, I thought I was going to do this for 6 months, get in shape learn self defense and maybe meet a couple of friends. A year and a half later I am still here, not going anywhere and in love with the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The confidence I have gained is priceless not to mention a place where I belong and we have a TRIBE of women and young girls who are absolutely amazing and each bring something different to the table. For some this gym tuns into a home away from home and others have a welcoming environment to come and learn world class BJJ from instructors who really care about each person and their jiu jitsu journey.

I was looking for a jui jitsu gym with a good kids program for my son when he was 7. I wanted him to build some self confidence, resilience, and learn self defense skills that will stay with him for life. Gracie Barra Hayden was the perfect place. Owned by a great family and an overall great atmosphere. I then got my youngest into classes. Watching all their practices gave me the itch! Having wrestled in highschool a little, dabbled in judo and jui jitsu around 19 or 20 y/o it’s only natural. I wasn’t sure how my knee would hold up after 3 knee surgeries and being in my late 30’s. I asked the owners if I could give it a go for a week and see how my knee does. It’s now 16 months and a blue belt later and I’m still plugging along growing more and more every year technically and as a person. The biggest benefit is that Gracie Barra Hayden has become a part of our family. My kids have made good friends, I have made friends and the sense of community is something that was missing for me. We hang out after class, we have bbq’s at the gym, we have potlucks and UFC fight nights, they have date nights for parents to drop the kids off and go out for a couple hours, we do lake days together, the owners set up a camping/lake trip for the school and the list goes on. We have people from all walks of life from Doctors, Nurses, Electricians, Plumbers, Mechanics, Cops, to stay at home moms. We all help each other out one way or another. One of our guys changed out a driveshaft in the parking lot for another to help him out! Another benefit is that within a relatively short distance there are 2 other Gracie Barra schools in Spokane. You can mix it up by going to those gyms and sparring/learning with a whole different set of coaches and belt levels. Professor Markus in the valley and Professor Maeda (yes related to THAT Maeda) in north Spokane are top notch black belts and all around great guys. If you travel a lot, there are a ton of schools nationally and internationally. You just bring your gi and are welcomed on the mat like family. I went to visit my parents in Colorado last year and popped into a GB gym in Colorado Springs for a class. It was a great experience. Another guy I roll with went to Italy and popped in a class in Italy and in Spain. I can’t say enough good things about Gracie Barra Hayden and the Gracie Barra family in general. I can't say enough great things about Gracie Barra Hayden! The kids' Jiu-Jitsu program is absolutely top-notch. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also amazing with the kids. They create a positive and supportive environment where children feel encouraged to learn and grow. The classes are well-structured, teaching discipline, respect, and valuable life skills while having fun. My child has gained so much confidence, improved physically, and made great friends along the way. The facility is clean, welcoming, and has a fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommend Gracie Barra Hayden for any child interested in Jiu-Jitsu!
Experiencing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with Gracie Barra in Hayden, Idaho has been so uplifting, I have seen growth in my son. His confidence and how he's started to carry himself. Gracie baja has given Confidence to children. They work with them.They coach them not just in jiu-jitsu but in life.... I can't thank GB enough for what an awesome time I've been having!!! I got into GB jiu jitsu on a whim, and I didn't think it would stick, but both the classes are so great and the people that now I can't stay away. The members at all levels are never judgy and just always completely supportive and nice and amazing and help me get better for myself. There is ZERO reason to be afraid to try it out!
I was treated with hospitality as a drop in. I have trained at many BJJ places and this one is top notch. If I was local to the area, this would be my place. 10/10
Two Decembers ago, Gracie Barra Hayden was offering a free recreational month of Jiu Jitsu for children. I had no idea what this consisted of but wanted my son who was 9 at the time, to try something new and physical. We had no idea how much he would love it. Coach Eli and Coach Nikki have created a gym that welcomes and encourages everyone with open arms. They are dedicated and have become family. My son has learned to be more respectful, has more confidence in himself, is getting stronger, has made new friends, and has found passion in a sport that can also help him to protect himself. The other really cool thing about this gym is that all of the Professors and Coaches offer different teaching styles and techniques. It's fun, challenging, and they teach something new everyday with a different focus each week. If you are looking for family community or want to try something new without judgement, this is the place. Thank you Gracie Barra Hayden for all that you do for us!
Going to classes at Gracie Barra Hayden has been one of the best experiences our daughter has ever had. Coaches Eli and Niki are very good with kids, and have taught her a lot in the classes she has attended. Our daughter has made a lot of new friends there. As a result of participating in these classes, she has gained a lot of confidence in dealing with other people. As well as learning how to protect herself, she has gotten over much of her shyness and now is excited about joining all kinds of social activities and being around other kids. I would give this place my highest recommendation.
We have been so impressed with the entire team at Gracie Barra in Hayden. The kids’ program is fun and encouraging while maintaining a structured group. They teach jui jitsu skills right along side respect (for themselves and others). My son loves going to jui jitsu!
Started going there around 3 weeks ago and have already learned so much. It has been an amazing time learning jujitsu as well as getting to know all the people there!
Excellent gym to be at. Weather it's your first Jiu Jitsu experience or you've been around and through some belts, theres great training partners and coaches for everyone. All the coaches and instrucrors are helpful, inviting and make you feel welcome, kids and adults alike. If your on the fence, don't hesitate any longer to try a class.
GB Hayden is the most welcoming BJJ gyms I’ve ever been in, Eli and Niki treat everyone like family. Professor Meech is arguably one of the nicest and most knowledgeable black belts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Would recommend this place to ANYONE! Myself (50) and my two sons (17 and 5) joined Gracie Barra Hayden one month ago and have been blown away at how friendly, welcoming, and helpful the entire crew is. Not just Coach Eli and Niki, and Professor Meech, but everybody there. All the regulars and upper belts are so willing to share their knowledge and go easy on us new guys(to an extent 😉) so we can all learn and advance at what I consider a fairly quick pace. We absolutely love it there. My 8yr old boy, 16yr old boy and I decided to join a month after them. I have never done any type of martial arts in my life and they all have been very helpful and motivating. It can be hard work but worth every minute. The environment is relaxed and there is no judgement if you don’t get it right the first or 2nd (or for me a 3rd or 4th time). Prof. Meech is very patient and takes the time to make sure you understand the moves. Overall, this is a great place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

We have been training here since the opening in August of 2022. Professor Meech and Coach Eli are always willing to teach and work with you. We’ve had nothing but good experiences and would recommend to anyone wanting to begin their journey or continue training.
I have had a very positive experience training here so far. Everyone has been friendly and fun to roll with. The more experienced belts are patient with me and offer lots of useful pointers, which is much appreciated as I'm a total beginner. I recommend checking them out!
