I went in for a free BJJ trail and was welcomed with open arms by every participant in the gym. Greg, the owner, was extremely knowledgeable, tactful, and a great leader for the community. I recommend anyone who’s at all curious about martial arts to give Gracie Barra of Northville a shot and I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Greg’s style is a NO BS guide to grappling effectively with as much fat trimmed off as necessary. I cannot reiterate enough how helpful he was when teaching styles/techniques. If you come in dedicated to learn, you’ll catch on quickly and be apart of a really cool community they have going there. Thank you Greg and team - looking forward to coming back!
Posted 2 months agoMy husband and I enrolled our young daughters ages 3 & 4 in the Junior Champs program, and admitedly were apprehensive at first… this program has been nothing short of amazing. I am so thankful and impressed each week with the coaching staff, Coach Chris, Coach LaDonna, and the weekly helpers (forgive me on not having everyone’s name) are devoted to the success of each student, new or old. The coaches provide constructive feedback and praise when deserved. My girls have developed an identifiable increase in their self-confidence, which is exactly what we were looking for. They work hard, they are taught more than just the techniques, respect and the benefits of hard work are engrained in this program. I am so thankful we found Northville Gracie and highly recommend this program for your kids. My husband also does the adult program and has had great experiences with Professor Greg, who devotes ample time to his students and ensuring their success.
Posted 1 year agoI tried a Muay Thai kickboxing class and Greg and team were clear professionals. The gym was impeccably clean. The equipment was modern and also very clean. There is an atmosphere of kindness and respect. This is not a place of giant egos, but rather discipline, safe practice, and thoughtful leadership. Kudos to Greg and team on a well thought out and sustainable community.
Posted 5 months agoMy experience with Gracie Barra has been great! The teachers are wonderful and the training environment is very supportive and beginner friendly. They reply to emails quickly and have been very easy to communicate with. I highly recommend them if you are looking to train Jiu-Jitsu.
Posted 5 months agoMy 12-year old son and I visited my brother for the first time since he opened the gym and decided to take a class. First off, the space is very clean, well organized, and in good shape. It's obvious as soon as you walk in that as the owner/operator he wants the best environment for his students. The session itself was engaging, informative, and structured appropriately. We had two instructors, my brother and another gentleman. Both of them (as well as the students) were very helpful as two first-timers worked our way through the class. You could clearly see the positive and supportive culture that has been created. We had a great time and could see how much he cared about the kids and their families.
