Super welcoming, very friendly, tons of fun! I came through visiting town for work and am still very new to the sport, but coach jeff and the whole team welcomed me right in and let me learn in the fundamentals class. The gym is also extremely well designed and gorgeous. I am for sure keeping this place on my radar for every chance I can get back to the Baltimore area!

Been training under Jeff for 5 years, it’s been one of the most rewarding additions to my life. The students and instructors are always a pleasure to interact with, I always leave with a feeling of fulfillment. Jeff is super knowledgeable on what he teaches, and encourages you to ask questions. Classes are always engaging, and I always find myself having fun. I’ve enrolled my nephew into the little kids program and he’s been having a blast learning in class. The location is always clean and there’s a very nice lounge for people to hangout a bit after practices. If you want to bring someone along who doesn’t train, they can stay in the lounge, or watch the classes from the benches available around the mat. Love the experience I’ve had at the gym so far, I’m looking forward to being a part of it for a very long time!

professor jeff mount has a wealth of knowledge and is passionate about teaching. the mats and environment are always clean, nice bathrooms with showers. every student is high-spirited and approachable. plenty of free parking right out front as well. absolutely love this gym.

This place looked like a spa walking into the entrance and I'm pretty sure it was cleaner than one, too. The bathroom was just as beautiful, with a shower and any deodorant, hair accessories, etc, a woman may need. The guys are welcoming and accepting of anyone who walks in the door. I went for an open mat and they immediately introduced themselves. The rolls were highly technical, safe, and humble. They have a great culture and it flows from the top - as Jeff is inviting, humble, rolls with everyone, and highly respects both his members and other dojos. I will be going back often for both classes and open mats!

Came from NJ, and the experience was amazing. The place was clean and the instructor was very knowledgeable. It was a family friendly environment and everyone there was great. Best place to train in the Baltimore area.

Foundation has been a great place for me to train since moving to the area. I trialed a few gyms that were closer to home but chose Foundation to train under Jeff Mount due to the environment he fosters and the culture of the team. I feel that the team has wanted me to succeed and has provided the patience, accountability, challenge, and friendship to be able to. It’s a great group to train with, and there’s something for everyone at this gym, from hobbyists to competitors.

This is the best jiu jitsu gym in the area! Jeff Mount is a great coach and teacher who caters to everyone from the beginner white belt to the competition ready black belt. He keeps the gym super clean and is always eager to help his students grow. I can't recommend this place enough.

I stopped by Foundation for an open mat. Despite training at a different gym, the friendliness and professionalism was off the charts. The environment was clean and spacious. For the rolling aspect of the location there was everyone from hobbyist white belts to black belts preparing for competitions. The black belts welcomed the hobbyists with open arms ready to roll and offer advice. I highly recommend Foundation.

I went to their women's Galentine's self defense class and the lesson was really engaging and useful for real-world scenarios! They also had Valentine's day sweets which was a plus! 👍

World class instruction with a home town vibe. You are made to feel like family the instant you walk in. Everyone is amazingly supportive of the beginners and it shows in the culture they have built. Love this place !

Foundation Jui Jitsu is a great gym and welcoming to all belt levels, Coach Jeff is extremely professional and passionate for Jui Jitsu he is very thorough going over techniques, makes you feel apart of the team, the atmosphere of the gym is extremely friendly and comfortable to be around the students are courteous and respectful and help out immensely as well showing me around the spaces. 10/10 highly recommend!

Great spot. Good base of blue belts and white belts with some higher belts mixed in. A lot of diversity of men and women along with every color and nationality. Very family friendly vibes, multiple parents training with their kids. The kids class before adults looked engaging for kids bully proofing followed by dodgeball. 10/10 would recommend. As a traveling purple belt sometimes you get singled out and every blue belt comes for your neck. This did happen here and their blue belts were highly skilled and gave me a run for my money. None of them were spazzy or disrespectful. My roll with the lead blackbelt instructor was as predicted he beat me up gently then let me work and tapped me before the clock ran out. I recommend this spot and if I lived in the area would sign up.

I dropped into Foundation Jiu Jitsu for an Advanced Gi Class. Jeff was so welcoming and his instruction was excellent, breaking down each technique clearly and effectively. He cares about his students, taking the time to help each of them individually during drilling. He has a great rapport with them and it's clear that they truly enjoy training. Jeff also made sure to roll with me after class and took the time to check in with me before I left. Finally, the facility was clean, and bonus, there is actually a separate women's changing room! I'll definitely be back for another visit and highly recommend.

Great instruction, atmosphere, and training partners. All of the folks were very kind and helpful, and it definitely helps that the gym is extremely clean. Highly recommend this gym for anyone interested in bjj!

Professor Jeff Mount is incredible! He is one of the finest young up and coming Black Belts in the area. Great classes and really detail oriented. Great group of people with every belt represented. Beginner through advanced classes, day and evening, and the best Open Mat Saturday in town. 🤙 Everyone is welcome from beginners to advanced players.

Can’t say enough great things about this Foundation Jiu-Jitsu! My son is loving his time here in the big kid classes and is improving tremendously thanks to the knowledgeable and wonderful Coach Jeff and his team. They are super patient and it’s been great seeing all the kids progress week after week. The environment is very friendly, positive and welcoming.

Being a great martial artist and a great teacher require separate unique skill sets, and Professor Jeff Mount has the tools to be both. Foundation BJJ maintains a culture right in the sweet spot of being light-hearted and safe, while also respecting the art for what it is - combat. I started at Foundation Jiu Jitsu a few months ago and easily fell in love with it because of coach Jeff, the way he runs the class, and the great environment he has created. He makes everyone feel welcomed and motivated. No matter your gender, belt color, or fitness level Jeff ensures everyone has a great experience, is truly learning, and getting the best out of every class. At first I was nervous to be a female attempting a sport that was very new to me but that nervousness quickly disappeared as the environment is simply so welcoming. It’s great to continue to see Foundation Jiu Jitsu continuously growing. I can’t wait to see more females join!!

Great time popping in here. I like to cross-train when I can at different gyms and Jeff and crew were great. Good drills, good rolls, good people. No one would feel uncomfortable or out of place here.

Professor Jeff Mount is a knowledgeable and personable instructor that can help you achieve your goals in Jiu jitsu - whether it is getting on the podium at a tournament, gaining new skills and advancing your game, or learning a new hobby. I took Jeff's competition training series last year before IBJJF DC Open, and with his support, training, and many of his techniques I won in my division. His students are all great to train with - the friendly atmosphere is really inviting, especially if you are new to the sport. I have watched Professor Mount compete and use techniques that he teaches earn him wins at a high level. I feel lucky to be living so close to such a great gym.
