I was in Butler PA for work for a few days, and wanted to train. I found this place on google maps, and called Jason to see if I could swing by for a drop in. Jason was super friendly, and runs a great program. The vibe was great, I'll definitely be coming by again if I'm ever in PA. Everyone was nice, no goons despite being a visiting black belt, never felt like I had a target on my back lol. Loved it, hope I get to train here again.

I’d recommend Empower to anyone who wants to try jiu jitsu. Jason does a great job teaching, breaking down every technique so that’s easy to digest and learn but also keeping the classes a ton of fun. The atmosphere is great with plenty of people willing to train with and teach you a thing or two.

Empower made my granddaughter feel welcome right away. Coach Jason has the kids working hard and loving it. Its only been a month and she already has noticeable improvement in confidence and knows some moves too.

I am from Chicago and was visiting a friend in Butler for 2-3 weeks. I trained here at Empower as it was one of few BJJ academies nearby. This gym was super clean, everyone was super nice and welcoming, and Coach Jason teaches so well! I enjoyed training here and learned a lot! I had great rolls with people of different levels and they were all diligent with injuries I had. I appreciate Coach Jason for welcoming me into the gym and sharing his vast knowledge of BJJ. Highly recommend coming here for kids and adults!!

Everything my Coach teaches works! Empower Jiu Jitsu is more than just a gym, it’s a place where you grow, learn, and push yourself beyond limits you didn’t think were possible. Coach Jason has created an incredible environment that is welcoming to everyone, regardless of experience level. His attention to detail, focus on safety, and ability to break down techniques in a way that actually works make him an outstanding instructor. Since training here, I’ve not only improved my skills but also gained confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of community. Everything my Coach teaches works! If you’re looking for a place to train, Empower Jiu Jitsu is the best choice in Saxonburg. Highly recommend! Let's Go

I’ve been training at Empower Jiu Jitsu for about two years, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Coach Jason's method of instructing is outstanding—he creates an environment that’s not only educational but also welcoming, positive, and lots of fun. All of the training partners I’ve met here are both friendly and supportive, making each class something I look forward to. Recently, my 5-year-old daughter joined the kids' class, and I’ve been so impressed with how Coach Jason has helped the children feel comfortable with both the space and the contact involved in training. He is great at connecting with the younger students, making them excited to learn and grow. She is always looking forward to her next class. The owner of Empower clearly takes pride in his space, maintaining an incredibly clean and organized facility. It’s evident that he truly values his students and their development, always ensuring a high-quality environment for everyone who steps on the mat. I highly recommend Empower Jiu Jitsu to anyone looking to learn Jiu Jitsu in a positive, supportive community, whether you’re an adult or looking for a place for your kids to train.

I have been going 3 days a week to Coach’s kickboxing class for about 3 years! This class is exactly what I needed after realizing that a typical gym environment was not motivating for me. I look forward to going to class, getting a good workout, and seeing coach and my fellow classmates! Boxing has been excellent for my mental health, stress relief, and physically for discovering the power my body can produce and how to use it.

I don’t usually write reviews but felt compelled because of the excellent experience I’ve had at Empower Jiu Jitsu. I’m still very new to Jiu jitsu (no prior wrestling/grappling experience). Signing up with Empower was one of the best decisions I’ve made for physical fitness, self-confidence and fighting skills. Jason is a great instructor, patient, and really supportive. It’s a very welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of skill level. I started doing jiu jitsu on a whim after signing up for Empower’s intro course. Go ahead and sign up for some intro classes - you won’t be disappointed. If you're looking for a martial arts gym that will challenge you, support you, and help you reach your goals, I highly recommend Empower Jiu Jitsu.

Very new person friendly. Great instruction from the Coach. Energy is typically always pretty high. Does a really good job at making everyone feel welcome and part of the team from the newest person to the oldest.

Empower Jiu Jitsu has changed my life. When my husband and I were looking for a new sport to start together, we wanted to be sure it would be something and somewhere we could stick with for the long haul. A random google search and a last minute call to our soon to be Coach Jason was all we needed to determine this was the gym we wanted to be a part of. Every bit of the last 2 years has been epic. From the first class and the warm welcome, to demo sessions in the new gym and fight night get togethers at the old one, we’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for giving us this awesome opportunity and for providing a gym that we know will be in our lives for the foreseeable future.

I can’t recommend Empower Jiu Jitsu enough. Coming from an athletic background I’ve had lots of coaches in different sports, but nobody comes close to Coach Jason. He cares about his students and it shows. Even when the mats are full of students, he finds a way to make it feel like he’s giving you all of his attention. The group of people we have at the gym is awesome. If you’re looking for a fun, humbling but fulfilling experience Empower Jiu Jitsu is the way to go.

If you’re looking to learn jiu jitsu, look no further. Coach Jason and the members of Empower Jiu Jitsu are extremely welcoming and encouraging. As a new member, I felt like a member of the team before I even arrived to my first class.

I started going to Empower a little over a year ago as I was recovering from an injury and was limited in how I could work out. I quickly found that this was going to be the right place for me as the range of learning and intensity allows you to train on any given day based on how your body and mind feels for that given day. I can honestly say that everyone at Empower is there for not only their own growth but the growth of those around them which makes for a great experience. Coach Jason is great at adapting each class to whom is in the room and breaking techniques down into digestible and learnable steps. I actually have had such a good experience at Empower and with Coach Jason that my son now goes there along with some of his friends from wrestling.

I started in January after hip replacement surgery. I wasn't shore if I would be able to handle the classes. Coach Jason and Coach Justin have been absolutely amazing from day one. They do a great job of explaining the techniques and sometimes add some humor while demonstrating. Everyone in class has been great to work with. I'm not as flexible as I used to be but there are different techniques for older and less flexible people. I have also lost about 10 lbs. from the work outs.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to visit and train at BJJ gyms across the country. Empower BJJ is hands-down one of the most welcoming places I've visited and trained at. Jason, the instructor, is knowledgeable and supportive, creating a welcoming environment for practitioners of all levels. The classes are well-structured, offering a perfect balance of technique and live rolling. Plus, the community vibe is great—everyone is there to help each other grow. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned grappler, Empower BJJ is worth checking out!

When I decided to start my martial arts journey I was extremely nervous and even had doubts that I could even physically do it. But on my first day I realized I had came to the right place. Jason does an amazing job with getting new people right into the fun of learning and drilling without destroying your body. Now you will definitely get a workout but Jason seems to get you ready for live drilling/sparring until throwing you in the deep end. Safety and health of his students seems to be his top priority. So, that being said give this place a try. I got addicted my first week and I’m sure you will too.

Empower is the place to be if you want to level up your BJJ skills and not just go through the motions. I started at a different gym and when things just didn't feel right anymore I reached out to Coach Jason. I explained how I was feeling and he welcomed me with open arms. I struggled with remembering basic techniques and skills at my previous gym. The way Coach runs classes and teaches resonates with me so much more than before. He explains the skill, we drill the skill (sometimes play weird games), and then we go deeper into why that skill is important. He breaks things down into bite sized chunks, but also gives you room to explore and figure things out on your own. I still forget things sometimes, but overall I have retained so much more knowledge at Empower than I did anywhere else. The other students here are also extremely welcoming and supportive. If I struggle with anything, I know I can ask my partner to give me live feedback so I can continue to grow. I have noticed that my own BJJ skills have skyrocketed since starting at Empower. There are also a pretty amazing group of ladies here and we are all extremely supportive of each other. I know it can sometimes be a little scary to join a place that is a male dominant sport, but I assure you that everyone here is respectful and kind. If you are looking for a place to level up that is a welcoming and supportive environment, I urge you to try out a few classes. Coach keeps class interesting, engaging, and cracks a few jokes so we know not to be too serious. I cannot recommend Empower enough!

I've belonged to a handful of gyms and done fitness classes on and off for years. Kickboxing has been a favorite of mine, so when I saw Empower show up on social media, I reached out to try a class. It's been an amazing fit for both myself and my family. My husband started kickboxing with me, but him and our son (7) also both ended up training Jiu Jitsu. Great welcoming, supportive atmosphere for any fitness level or age.

I just started training with coach Jason in February. Before starting training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I had done no physical sports or activities before except the occasional hike. As someone coming in without any knowledge Coach Jason is good at breaking down the technique to teach anyone from people who don’t know the first thing about BJJ, to people who already know. Every student is also nice and welcoming.

My son and I both train here at 10 and 40. Great place, Jason does an amazing job of working with kids and adults across all ages and skill levels. If you've done no grappling or have a colored belt you'll be fine either way. And excellent song choices. Come for the music, stay for the Jiujitsu

Coach Jason is the best! He provides a really welcoming environment as well as a great jiu jitsu program. Working with him truly helped me develop my ground game in the years leading up to the Tokyo Olympics. I always appreciated him for touching on the finer details of techniques, and for keeping classes running smoothly and efficiently!

Coach Jason is an incredible instructor. Very clear and detailed with his instruction. On top of being a great instructor, he takes the time to make sure everyone has a handle on the technique. He creates a great, welcoming environment and treats you like you’re part of the team from Day 1. He is great with beginners, making sure they are comfortable when they start. He gives those little details that are missing for the more advanced students. We were sad to see him go but excited to see what he can accomplish at empower.
