Emerald City is an amazing gym. The instructors are all black belts. They are not only great at doing Jiu Jitsu, they are great at teaching Jiu Jitsu. They encourage all of us, whether we compete or not. The people who train at Emerald City are wonderful as well. It's a fabulous place to learn and practice Jiu Jitsu.
My experience at ECJJ has been nothing short of amazing. Everyone here is very respectful and works hard. I've learned a great deal of knowledge from each black belt coach in every class. Their attention to detail and emphasis on training what will work in each situation has been a game changer for me and I've learned a great new deal of knowledge across the spectrum of all the classes.
This is a great gym with multiple black belt coaches. The coaches and students are all respectful and strive to help each other improve. I highly recommend a trial class to experience firsthand the qualities that make Emerald City the best in the area.

Great gym, awesome facility and instructors..this school offers bjj, nogi jiu jitsu, wrestling, judo, striking, I mean what more could you ask for. Ten round Tuesdays for those who want the challenge, definitely not worth missing.

40 years old with no prior experience. The coaches and other students are all a great group of people. All of the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable.
Highly recommend. Coaches are awesome and care about each person, their goals, and what they want to achieve. You aren't just a number. All members are inviting and excepting- a great group. One big team.
Best gym around without question!! Came in there and they took me right in like I was one of their own. Sam, Joe, Freddy, & Tomas are all amazing coaches who really care about their students! If you’re looking to compete this is the place to go!

I decided to pop in and see anyways. I couldn’t be happier that I did. It was a highlight of the weekend. Usually going into a gym there’s a bit of uncomfortably or less attention to drop ins. This wasn’t the case at all. Freddie ran an excellent class with great technique. Rolling with the crew that was there was very technical and safe. Great vibes, lots of respect and clean. I will most definitely stop in every time I’m near the area.
I've studied different martial arts for many years (including BJJ and traditional Karate) and have never seen an instructor as unprofessional or disrespectful as the lead instructor, Sam M. The other guys who teach are much better, but the overall culture needs work.
I had been training for about 4 years before trying emerald city and left after only about a month. Sam was rude to me right from the start, and it never got much better. If you’re a woman looking to get into jiu jitsu or try a new gym, you’re better off going anywhere else. I’ve never had issues with male training partners being so rude or rough as I did here.
