Train here! This is hands down the best place in London to learn legitimate Gracie Jiu-Jitsu self‑defence in a safe, zero‑ego environment. Our family of four has been on the mats for well over a decade, and we’ve been fortunate to travel and learn from world‑class professors around the world. EKBJJ still stands out. Professor Eddie Kone is a highly credentialed Gracie Jiu‑Jitsu black belt under Rickson Gracie’s Jiu‑Jitsu Global Federation, and his team of instructors deliver clear, structured, pressure‑tested self‑defence and Jiu‑Jitsu. The culture matches the level of instruction: welcoming, patient, and truly family‑friendly, with students from all walks of life and every skill level sharing the mat together. You’ll be hard‑pressed to find a better academy in Europe if you care about real Gracie Jiu‑Jitsu, personal growth, and an uplifting community. If you’re in or around London and thinking about starting or switching gyms, do yourself a favour and book a class at Eddie Kone Academy of Gracie Jiu‑Jitsu. Highly recommend and tell them you’ve got Jiu‑Jitsu Fever. #jiujitsuforlife #jiujitsufever #jiujitsufamily

This is genuinely one of the best martial arts academies I have ever been to, and I’ve been to quite a few. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, the coaches are incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, and they have dedicated kids classes as well. What sets it apart for me is the depth of the expertise and the level of teaching - Eddie and the other professors are able to teach such subtle details that entirely change your understanding. You can see where it comes from when you see the dedication he puts into not just his juijitsu expertise but also sharing it with his students - bringing back and sharing nuggets of knowledge he gains from his sessions with Rickson Gracie himself.

Professor Eddie Kone is an authentic educator of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The EKBJJ Academy is a safe and clean learning environment for all, upheld by a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying or bullish behaviour. Thank you EKBJJ family for creating a respectful and authentic self defence learning environment for my child, wife and I.

EKBJJ – A True BJJ Home in East London EKBJJ is one of those rare gyms that perfectly balances high-level instruction with a welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned grappler, there’s something here for everyone. Instruction: Professor Eddie Kone brings years of experience and lineage directly under Royce Gracie, which shows in the structure, detail, and philosophy of every class. He has a clear emphasis on fundamentals and self-defense, which gives EKBJJ a unique identity compared to more sport-focused schools. His teaching is methodical, patient, and filled with practical insights you can use immediately on the mat. Atmosphere: This is what sets EKBJJ apart. The environment is respectful, ego-free, and genuinely supportive. It’s clear that the culture here is about growth — not just in skill, but as individuals. Higher belts are approachable, and new students are made to feel like part of the team from day one. Facility: The gym is clean, well-maintained, and has everything you need. The mats are in great condition, and class sizes are managed well so that you’re not crammed in. Community: EKBJJ has a tight-knit but inclusive community. Whether you’re there to compete, learn self-defense, or just get fit, you’ll find training partners who support your goals. Off the mats, there’s a real sense of camaraderie too. Final Verdict: EKBJJ isn’t just a place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — it’s a place to grow mentally, physically, and personally. Whether you’re a local or just visiting East London, dropping in is highly recommended. One of the best BJJ gyms in the UK, hands down.
