Great class! It was my first time at the Easton Thornton location and I brought a friend who wrestled in college, but never had done BJJ. We attended an all levels class. We focused on straight arm locks from closed guard, half guard and butterfly guard. The instructor was patient, very knowledgeable, and really helped me understand the mechanics. The culture was great! Everyone trained hard, was respectful and the randori after was great! 11/10 recommend!
Posted 7 months agoHighly recommend. We absolutely love Professor Pete. Bettie is a teenager and is allowed to make most decision in her life. She loves Jiu Jitsu and will always find herself back on the mats with her crew. She left Thornton to try out other opportunities but soon found out it’s not always what people promise. People make mistakes. She found herself competing again and had Professor Pete in her corner. Through thick and thin. Bettie has also worked for Professor Pete. He has always, treated her legendary. Always! He was the sweetest to my girl. That’s why she loves him so much. Period.
Posted 1 year agoMy 5 year old has been training here for about 4 months now and she absolutely loves attending class. I also couldn't be happier with the experience. The instructors are great with young kids, theyre incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and truly invested in each child's progress. I feel like they create a fun and supportive environment. What really stood out to me is how they incorporate daily team gatherings where they discuss with the kids important life lessons such as respect, perseverance, confidence and teamwork. I really feel like these moments help shape not just their jiujitsu ability but also their overall character. It's amazing to see my kid gaining confidence while learning valuable self defense skills. l've noticed a lot of growth in both her physical abilities and social interactions. I highly recommend this program for any young kids looking to learn martial arts. The facility is clean and well maintained too
Easton is an amazing fit for my family. We have been attending for over 2 months. This gym has a wonderful atmosphere and is a great space for learning. The coaches are VERY attentive and very understanding of how to teach young children a highly difficult and disciplined skill. Along with JuJitsu they have a “Mat Chat” daily where they discuss other life skills; such as being a good friend/sibling, controlling your emotions, and being self-disciplined. Safety is definitely a priority at Easton. I am very comfortable having my daughter in this gym and will be entering my youngest next year as welll! Thank you!!!
My 6 year old has been attending for two months and she has absolutely been loving and looking forward to class. We love the life lessons and defense they learn off the bat. My 6 year old has been making fast progress and we are nothing but happy with class. Our youngest will be attending when she gets old enough!
Highly recommend. We absolutely love Professor Pete, Coach Isaac, Coach Mick and Coach Mike.
Pete and the rest of the coaches here are awesome! My son is enjoying the kids class and is learning a lot.
Hands down the best Jiu-jitsu gym in Denver area and in Colorado. Just do yourself and your kids a huge favor right now and for the future. Make yourself and children go at least 3x a week and stick with it. After 6 months , there will be no regrets, you and your family will be better physically, mentally, emotionally and more grounded and confident.
We are super happy with the training at this gym. Pete and his staff are great with the kids and our son has made incredible progress!

I go here and it’s the best
Great place to learn or continue training BJJ, amazing coaches and professors! Courteous classmates and a flexible schedule!
My daughters and I absolutely loved our experience here. Nick is incredibly patient and explains things exceptionally well. Looking forward to stopping in when I'm back in town!
This is an excellent gym and part of the Easton family of gyms in Denver. The culture here is second to none. Very friendly people. The head instructor, Professor Pete, is patient, kind, and knowledgable. He knows how to work well with everyone age 5-50. I've trained under Professor Pete since blue belt and he always has something special and unique to teach that's specific to my style. I've trained at a lot of gyms and this is easily my favorite place.
Only dropped in once while in town. Very friendly atmosphere, and very welcoming. Highly skilled students and coaches, plenty to be learned here.
It was my first class in jiu jitsu. The instructors there are awesome. And the people I met and rolled with were super relaxed and were always giving pointers and tips to help you. The whole school was super inviting. Needless to say I am now going to be a student there.
Our family's experience has been wonderful! Not only do they teach jiu-jitsu but they also do safety talks every class and emphasize responsibility of the techniques they are learning.
Discipline, art form, defense and fun- all things the kids are learning here, as I sit watching my nephew go thru his class. I love that all the children are taught respect not only for the Professor but also for their Coach. Exercise is not demanded but a fun activity developing muscle tone and strength. The Professor is quiet, unassuming and the kids respect 'and' like him. The Professor knows and acknowledges each child by name. He reinforces the mindset of violence as a last resort, versus as a first response. Overall, I am happily impressed by this school and would recommend Easton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to anyone.
The end of August will be my one year anniversary of training at Easton BJJ in Thornton and I have to say it has been an AWESOME year! Professor Pete and Nick, all the coaches, and other students are all just a great set of people and training partners. I feel like I've learned a ton in the last year (except when I get submitted on the mat, then I know I've got a ton more to learn). The environment is no pressure but at the same time they push you to work hard and have fun. The environment is laid back and low key but the techniques and skills are top notch. I will definitely continue training with Easton and I'm looking forward to what the next several years of training will bring!
Great school. All the instructors are very responsive and great with kids. My daughter has attended for the last 2 years. She says it makes her feel powerful.
Awesome place and an awesome group of people! Instructors are knowledgeable and all around great with both kids and adults! Happy to call this place home for myself and my family!
I have been training here for almost 2 years, and absolutely love it! Professors Pete and Nick are extremely knowledgeable, and present information that really helps develop everyone's technique, and further their BJJ goals. I have the pleasure of training with an extremely diverse (and awesome!) group of people, who have also contributed to my progress. Whatever your goals may be, I highly recommend Easton BJJ in Thornton!!!
Attending classes at this school is the best decision I've made all year. The proprietors of this school (Professor) Nick and (Coach) Pete are very knowledgable in techniques. The students are all hard working professionals that respect each other. I look forward to each and every class I get to attend.
II have been training with Professor Nick for 9 years now years. I started out in Boulder in 2007 and in 6 months he made a impact in my life and in my training. It was such a big impact that when he and his brother started a new location in Arvada I followed them to their new academy. Soon after I started training in Arvada I met Pete. First and foremost both of them are amazing instructors and wonder people. They care very much about their students and want to see everyone have fun and do their best in a safe learning environment. The curriculum is set up in a way that a highly tuned athlete, someone who has never done any sports, or a person who has physical limitation (like myself) can learn and progress. I addition to the adult program they also run a great kids program. I never participated because I don't have kids but I have witness many kids and family classes in person and they do a outstanding job interacting and teaching the kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In addition to the training the kids also learn lessons that create self discipline, respect for others, and "doing the right thing" when a situation arises outside of the academy. I know this sounds like a big "buddy" pitch but its not. Yes they are my friends but I have friends that I would not endorse for one reason or another so it's rare that I give out "5 Stars" Who am I ???? I am a retired US Marine, former US Army Soldier and now disabled vet. I started out my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey when I was 32. I was in the middle of my third enlistment and wanted to learn self defense to help me in survive in the field because my unit was going to deploy in the next 12 months. That was 2007, flash forward to 2016 and here I am, 41 with a lot more milage. I am not the warrior I use to be, they are good training days, bad training days, and some days where I don't make it in (but they call me to make sure I'm ok). I have never won any competitions out side the academy, but in training I win some and lose some but no matter what I have fun and get exercise. I have trained at a lot of great places but what sets Easton Training Centers and Martial Arts Academies apart from others is that the students and staff care about each other, we push each other to be better don't try to hurt each other, if we want to train and are hurt then we communicate it before hand so it is safe. Another great think I like is that we are welcome all easton schools like it was our home location. We also support each other at events and hangout together outside of class. That is why I am giving this school my endorsement. If you are still wonder about it I encourage you to try out a class and see what it is all about. I look forward to training with you.
I highly recommend the Easton BJJ Thornton location. I enrolled my 3 year old son first and was impressed by their "Little Tigers" program. Not only does my son learn BJJ technique but he loves the games they play as well. Plus there is "mat chat" where they learn about strangers, how to avoid conflicts, etc. My son cannot wait to go to class! After watching the instructors I enrolled myself and work with a great group. You cannot ask for better instructors w/ coach Pete, J.R., and professor Nick!
I took my kids here for about a month. I liked some things - they have a good routine, they work on teaching the kids life skills and not just jiu jitsu. However, I don't think the main teacher has the patience to work with children. You can visibly see him get quite agitated a lot with little things. He also did not tell me that my 5 year old apparently bit someone. I question whether or not that even happened because I was watching him the whole time and I did not see it. I did step out to go to the bathroom for a couple of minutes. The next day my son said a kid was pinching him when they were practicing him and did it while he was being grabbed at. My son is not the type to act out unprovoked, but he did hit the other kid who was pinching him. He told us we can't come back. I don't think he listened or cared about what happened. I could have corrected the issue the first day if I was told about it, but no one ever said anything. I think maybe they didn't want to teach my older son who is autistic, but used my younger son as an excuse to kick them out so that it wouldn't be discrimination. Both the kids were really motivated to be there, so they were sad about it. I don't think my son is the only kid who ever got mad and did something like that. I didn't get any chance to have a talk with him to fix the problem, and he has been in other sports classes before. Nothing like that ever happened. I contacted a different Jiu Jitsu school and the instructor said half the kids at her school come from the Easton school. She said a lot of the parents and kids feel like the teacher is just too intense at Easton and end up leaving. I was surprised to see no one ever talked about this on here before. Especially if you have a kid with special needs, I would just try some place else. If your kid is perfect, sure send them here. It seems like a competitive and structured program.
