I stopped in Denver Modern Jujitsu. For a morning class while I was in town. Walker, our instructor was very knowledgeable, patient and good energy. The gym Was clean and organized. Even the students there were helpful and all good vibes. I will definitely be returning whenever I’m in town!

Seven months attending this gym and have found the best school for me. From my beginners perspective, Professor Don Westman provides for a near ideal environment of solid instruction while allowing beginners to roll and work on the skills taught in real time and full speed in a safe environment. I believe this approach works because there are so many advanced practitioners who are willing to roll with white belts allowing them to work and practice the lesson and providing real time teaching to help one improve. This is the best balance between some gyms that require endless drilling with fellow white belts where you can't get the feel of a technique being applied and others where you are simply getting smashed by upper belts or where the upper belts simply won't roll with you. If you are interested in starting Brazilian jiu jitsu, I can't recommend Denver Modern enough. Come try the gym out with a free class and meet the folks who will become like family.

I was in the Denver area for work and decided to drop in for a noon nogi class taught by Steph. It was a great class with very welcoming atmosphere and attentive instruction. Came away with two new side control escapes I can pull on my training partners when I get home. Ended with a few rolls, got crushed, submitted, and learned my arm triangles aren’t nearly as good as I thought they were, which are all great things as far as I’m concerned. Great job to you all for running a wonderful gym. I will make a point to drop by every time i’m in town. If you are looking to pick up Jiu Jitsu in the Denver area, this is a fantastic place to go. Awesome place for BJJ. Stopped by for an early morning class on my way to the IBJJF world masters and they were very welcoming. Had some great professors. Were awesome to roll with. Will definately be back if I am ever on my way through Denver Colorado again. Would give them 6 stars if I could.

I dropped in on the noon gi class with Coach Vance. Really cool and clean space with a really welcoming atmosphere. We worked lapel chokes from guard and Coach Vance had some really good insights that I'll take with me. I highly recommend dropping in or training with them full time if you live in the area!

Denver Modern JiuJitsu is the best place to train in Denver/Colorado! They have amazing instructors teaching high level techniques for both Gi/No Gi and Muay Thai Kickboxing. I’m a newer member at this gym and I truthfully don’t think I could have found a better place to be. The owner, Don, is fantastic and sets the tone, and the standard for what bjj gyms should be like. The coaches are also top notch. They’re so helpful and work with you on anything you need. Literally, every person I’ve met has been extremely nice and has worked with me to better my technique. If you’re on the fence or have always been interested in jiu jitsu, I implore you to give this gym a shot. It’s the type of place that makes you want to be a contributor, not just a member. I’m excited for the future of this gym.

Don is a great Black belt with an awesome background in competition, MMA, No gi, and gi jiu jitsu. i received my black belt from Don and i can say confidently that is the best school in the denver metro area. If you are a competitor, hobbyist or parent looking to get your child into Brazilian Jiu jitsu, i Highly recommend this school. It's conveniently located and the facility is brand new.

Highly recommend this place. The instructors and facility are top tier. Not only is this an amazing place to train but the environment is something that can’t be replicated anywhere else. Everyone in this gym is very tight and you really get the sense of a family here. We not only train together but spend holidays together, watch UFC together, and more. A lot of people commute from far away to this gym for many reasons which is a testament to the kind of place this is. They have an awesome beginners program, advanced program, and kids program. I've been training with Professor Don for 7 years now and I cannot recommend his instruction more highly. I've grown as a person and as a practitioner, and the environment is extremely welcoming and inclusive, regardless of whether your primary motivation is competition, fitness, fun and stress relief, or all of the above. I have been training with Don Westman for 8 years. He has corned me for MMA fights, got on flights across the country with his own money to coach me for jiujitsu matches and spent countless hours helping me be a better human. He would never ask you to do something he wouldn't do himself. If you are looking to fight MMA, compete in jiujitsu or just hang with the hommies, get into shape and have a fun community to do jiujitsu with this is the spot.
