Great clean welcoming gym! In town for work and I was a bit nervous to drop in for open mat but I’m so glad I did! Everyone was super welcoming, and I got some great rolls in. Im always grateful for the hard rolls but more than that they also took the time to teach, and answer my questions. I walked away with some great new technique I’m excited to bring back home and work on. Definitely a solid spot—I’ll be back if I’m ever in town again!

I was in town and trained here for a week. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. This gym is mainly no gi with gi classes in the mornings. I really enjoyed the classes and training with the people here. I can’t wait to visit again!

Coaches Brendon and Jose were so welcoming and helpful with coaching my daughter as we were visiting for NAGA from Oregon. They made her feel welcomed and a part of the team during practice and the tournament, offering great insight that helped her improve in each of her matches. We are so grateful for their support, and the welcoming spirit of Dark Haven. We will definitely be popping back in to this gym when we visit in the future, highly recommend checking them out!

Dropped in for a nogi class while traveling. They were very welcoming and gave me some great rolls! Took home a new technique chain from shin-to-shin. Great group! (Note to owner's, you need better wayfinding to the front door for the 2nd floor space. I saw the old 1st floor space and I thought you were out of business until I saw a video on your instagram! Haha)

Dropped into the Sunday open mat during our balloon fiesta visit. Coach Cody couldn't have been more welcoming. He even took time between rounds to share some awesome tips and techniques. Next time we visit, I'll be sure to drop in for classes!

Visiting for the balloon fiesta and dropped in here for the 9:30am class. It was a great experience! The drills were very helpful and informative, everyone there was welcoming and the live rolls were awesome! I learned a lot and I'll definitely be back anytime I'm in town.

My son and I had the pleasure of passing through Albuquerque on a road trip and came across Dark Haven Studio, and we couldn't be more grateful for the experience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like old friends, the warmth and generosity from both the coaches and members made us feel right at home. With a focus on wrestling and ecological teaching methods the class opened new perspectives on training. The coaches shared invaluable cues and explanations that we had not seen before, and it felt like we absorbed a month’s worth of learning in just a few hours. Thank you to everyone at Dark Haven for their kindness, patience, and willingness to share their knowledge. My son can't stop talking about how much fun he had, and we sincerely hope to visit again in the future!

I am an out of town purple belt and dropped in for a class. Had an amazing learning experience and some great rolls! Everyone including coaches and members were extremely friendly and welcoming! Facility is clean and spacious! Highly recommend

Dropped in here while traveling from out of town. Sick training experience! Crowd was super nice, gym is cool as hell, and great rolls. Trained under the ADCC rules, which was a pretty cool experience.

2023 update - A great group of people to train with. Full of nice people, smiles and open to everyone. Please come to open mat on Saturday to see for yourself. Highly skilled and motivated instructor that actually cares about the students. The process and curriculum continues to improve. Feedback is encouraged and acted upon. A true place of joy in my life. A true community build around grappling. I travel for work and have been to multiple studios around the country and dark haven has been the most welcoming, professional and all around fun place to train at. Whether you’re a serious competitor or beginner grappler, dark haven has the amenities for you to succeed. I will definitely be coming back when I’m in Abq.

With no experience in martial arts 10th Planet fundamentals at the DH studio has been amazing. Patience, positive attitudes and a sense of community are just a few of the great qualities that keep me coming back. I am thankful my journey started here.

As a 40 year old who got into Jiu Jitsu later in life, I can only say positive things about Dark Haven. Instructors care about the students, focus on technique, and are welcoming. Members are diverse, friendly, and genuine. 10/10

Dark Haven Studio is a great place for all skill levels. Personally speaking as someone new to both jujitsu and mma, this place is a safe learning space. Not only am I given the opportunity to protect myself offensively but also defensively. The staff are amazing and well trained individuals. I also took advantage of the strength trainer they have. I am in the army reserve and I mentioned what I was looking for and why, Dark Haven has done all they can to help me get on track to reach my desired goals. Besides the company itself, the environment is safe and friendly. I've made friends with the other students and honestly look forward to each of my classes there. It really is a highlight for me. The classes also have a variety of times and days. So if you can't do such and such a date, you can go on another time. Highly recommend!

Training at Dark Haven has really helped me grow in skill and my love of Jiu Jitsu. The coaches are patient and work with each student at their level of understanding while helping each student improve in skill. The community of students is great as well. Everyone I've encountered has seemed to be like minded in working to make one another better.

If your a fan of jiu jitsu this is the best place in albuquerque! Staff are super friendly and easy to work with. The environment is very beginner friendly for those who are just starting out or maybe trying to advance there game. Hands down my favorite place to train!

Great place for all levels of experience, instructors are very knowledgeable and engaged! All students from my experience in dark haven are very motivated to learn new things and help less experienced students learn the basics. The coordination between admin, instructors and students is stellar. Very well managed gym! 10/10

So I have only been a member for a couple of months, but every time I go in to train everyone is super nice. Nate is an outstanding instructor. If you want to train MMA/No Gi BJJ this is a great place to go if your a beginner or expert. Thank you guys for a great place to train.

I’ve been training 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu at Dark Haven Studio for just over three months and it’s been absolutely incredible. I’ve trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the past, but this is a completely new experience. Dark Haven Studio has high level instructors who live and breathe Jiu Jitsu. Their enthusiasm is contagious. My training partners are awesome, no “mat spazzes” or egotistical guys trying to tear my limbs off. They’re people just like me who want to train hard, get better, and bring others along with them. They are my brothers and sisters. If you’re considering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Dark Haven Studio and 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu is a great place to call home. It will change your life. Look into it!

Dark Haven/10th planet is much more than a BJJ studio. It is a community of people who are closer to family than team mates. The classes are informative, fun and high quality. The instruction is well organized with monthly themes of technique where you learn, drill, and apply until you have them down. The group is welcoming to all, while jiu jitsu can be intimidating to jump into, they keep it safe and fun. Finally, Jiu Jitsu is a great form of exercise, I've need lots of team-mates, myself included, drop pounds and gain fitness over my time at the gym...

This gym is what you hear about 10th planet moons! The staff and students are all welcoming & helpful. The instructors KNOW their material and are able to relate it to all levels. The gym itself is clean and comfortably decorated. You can tell everyone appreciates & takes ownership & pride in their gym. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to people totally new to nogi jiu jitsu or veterans of any style!

Amazing atmosphere, people, and curriculum! Adult 10th Planet classes are fun, informative, and you will make friends. Kids classes are also very fun, and safe! My daughter has grown in so many ways because of Dark Haven Studio. Her very improved confidence, intelligence, athleticism, and positivity; speak volumes of her instructor, and Dark Haven Studio. This place is truly life changing!

2023 Update: In the past, Dark Haven boasted a roster of highly skilled and physically fit fighters, which greatly piqued my interest in joining the gym. However, it appears that the gym has undergone changes that have impacted its standards of cleanliness and organization. I was truly taken back by the presence of ringworm infections covering their fighters from neck to feet, which raised concerns about hygiene practices. Additionally, the quality of the mats is severely lacking, especially considering the substantial monthly fee of $130 or more. These issues raise questions about the allocation of funds within the gym. Furthermore, Dark Haven does not boast any accredited coaches or athletes representing them. This lack of reputable credentials gives the impression of pretentiousness, especially considering that Albuquerque is home to some of the world's best fighters and coaches. I personally find their "About Us" section on their website to be cringe-worthy In conclusion, if you are seeking a tight-knit community and enjoy discussing your experiences after a training session, Dark Haven may be suitable for you. However, if you prioritize an accredited gym with experienced coaches, I would strongly advise against choosing Dark Haven.
