I enrolled my children in July of 2024. My oldest son (12 yrs), my daughter (6) and my youngest boy (4). Shortly after me and my wife have also started our jiu jitsu journey through GBJJ Albuquerque. Since day one it was obvious that the people here take all aspects of running this business serious. The facility is clean and safe. All staff members are friendly, helpful and respectful, which trickles down into the students and the overall environment on and off the mats. Professor Russel and coach Geoffrey are both excellent instructors. Always having a positive mindset, enthusiasm and eagerness to teach. I've also watched how they interact with students before and after classes and their mentoring skills are top notch. Their jiu jitsu knowledge is vast and their instructions are detailed and easy to follow and understand. Every other coach that helps with the classes and training are kind, helpful and knowledgeable as well. The other members of the school have all been great as well, making it feel more like a family than a group of strangers. And I couldn't complete this review without mentioning the man behind the desk, Enrique. Always a joy to interact with and always available to answer any questions even when he's busy. Our time here has been a great benefit for all of us, individually and as a family.

I was in town for work and decided to stop in and train as a visitor and this academy was outstanding. Everyone was welcoming, the instruction was structured and well demonstrated, and the academy was clean and organized. Highly recommended them to anyone that needs to continue training when away from home.

I am from California and I typically train at another academy. I came to Albuquerque New Mexico for a few weeks for work. I called and asked Gracie Barra if I could train with them while I was in town. They said of course. Everyone was very friendly, and really motivated. They gave me a great price and were very patient with me. I had a great time with them. When I come back through again I will be going back. If you are looking to learn BJJ. This is a great place.

BEST Jujitsu dojo EVER the senseis are really dope and just nice everyone is friendly and try to teach you stuff and correct you in a learning way no one is rude or overly aggressive people understand your limits and respect them while trying to make you pass them at the same time I’m most definitely going to stay for years to come ! 100/10

I looked into this gym for my daughter and I will say that this has been one of the best experiences I have had as a parent looking for extracurricular activities. I informed the gym of my daughter's condition and was met with understanding and they remain so supportive. They work with children and people with all sorts of backgrounds and levels of fitness. My daughter leaves the gym after training with a new confidence every time. I personally have taken a few classes and I love the structure, the professionalism, the kindness and experience as a whole. If you have any apprehensions, just pay them a visit and see for yourself. Ask for Thomas, he is always so helpful and take a class with Wes. All the instructors are on the same page when it comes to inclusion and individual growth. They are so welcoming, it has been awesome for my little family, you won't regret it. Thank you, Gracie Barra

This has been a great place for me to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The instructors are very perceptive about how to help their students learn the art. I always leave class glad that I went. I have gradually felt more confidence in myself through continuing my martial arts education at this academy.

My son has been taking classes and competing with Gracie Barra for over three years. He loves it and our experiences with the organization have always been great. I myself recently started taking classes at this location and I’m really enjoying it. It’s an unbelievably welcoming and relaxed environment. The instructors and staff are all very encouraging and informative. I’m really enjoying my time at this school.

Fantastic instructors that really care about teaching you great technique and having fun in the process. We were only in town for 6 weeks and we did family private lessons. Every week was jam packed full of a great workout and instruction. Highly highly recommend this Jiu-Jitsu training facility.

I brought my daughter to try Jiu Jitsu when she turned 4. I was a little worried that she might be too young, but if anything, it was the most perfect activity for her. After nearly 3 years, she has gained focus, health, self-assurance, and above all community. I actually couldn't help but join as well and have been surprised at what an amazing experience it is. Professor Wes is a natural with the kids and I can say he is patient with slow-learners like myself. This is a community my entire family loves.

I wanted to try something outside of my comfort zone, so I tried jiu jitsu. After my first class I was hooked the professors are amazing and truly care about your improvement. The workout is phenomenal and the Camaraderie and environment is second to none. I highly recommend trying a class out and learning from Professor Wes his enthusiasm and teaching method is unparalleled!!

I've been training here for 3 months and absolutely love it! Everyone is fantastic - from the instructors to your fellow students. A great learning environment. Highly recommend this school to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiujitsu!

Very good instruction. Spacious training area. clean locker room and overall clean place. The instructors are very nice, there are several classes to take. It is probably more pricey than other places in the city but you can right away see that the value of the overall experience is better.

Great instruction in the adults and kids class. Prof and coaches are very attentive and the gym stays clean. But the reason I rate it a 2.5 ⭐️ is price $$$$. It’s soooo expensive to train here. I moved from Oregon and the GB there was $310 for a family of 4. Kids prices for this school here are pretty ridiculous… (they charge the same for adults VS child $180). unfortunately I’m looking to go elsewhere this coming month.

Terrible place. I called and left messages and two emails. No one returns calls or responded to my emails. In fact, no one even ever picks up the phone. If this is how they run their business can you imagine how this place is run and how they take care of children. Irresponsible. They don't even have basic information on their website about pricing or class schedules.

I was excited to become part of the "gracie barra" jiu jitsu family when I signed up. I overlooked the $100 initiation fee and the requirement to buy all their uniforms totalling over $300 in order to train at the gym. When I was signing up I informed them I was military and would likely be given short notice of when I had to leave, sadly they didn't make it clear that I would still be charged another 2 months after that. My ultimate experience taught me that gracie barra is more concerned with money than training. My friends went to invictus and have not had initiation fees, special uniform requirements, or charged extra months when they have to cancel. The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the people I met there. But the focus on money ultimately ruined the experience. It has now been several months since canceling my membership and they continue to charge me. I'm not talking about the 2 month notice either, they simply don't stop charging my account. Edit: 6 months after canceling I got a phone call from the owner asking about this review. After further discussion the owner decided my case had been mishandled and confirmed that my account was now no longer going to be charged and said they would refund the 2 month cancellation.
