CJ Judo in San Jose is an amazing place for judo training! Sensei Chuck Jefferson is an incredible instructor with a deep passion for the sport and a wealth of experience. He creates a welcoming and challenging environment for students of all levels, from beginners to high-level competitors. The dojo is well-organized, with structured classes that focus on technique, discipline, and respect. As a fellow dojo Owner in the East Bay, I can attest about the quality of the instruction and supporting senseis. What sets CJ Judo apart is not only the quality of instruction but also the strong sense of community. Sensei Chuck Jefferson is dedicated to helping students grow, both on and off the mat. He also organizes the best judo event in California, working alongside Judo United to bring together top athletes for an unforgettable competition experience. If you’re looking for a top-tier judo dojo in San Jose, look no more, CJ Judo is the place!

If I could give 6 stars, I would. Chuck is absolutely the best instructor my son's ever been with. Chuck is firm, kind, extremely knowledgeable, and such an incredible role model. This is a very safe learning setting - and the hands-on nature of judo helped my son prep for wrestling in high school (no judo in school). Judo was also a key driver for instilling tremendous self-confidence in my kid. Chuck and CJ Judo are highly recommended for kids & adults.

I’ve been training here under Corwin and Chuck since September 2023. I originally came to supplement my BJJ but then fell in love with Judo as its own art form and sport. My initial hesitation with starting Judo was the fear of getting injured as I’ve already got my fair share of chronic injuries through MMA and I’m only getting older. Yet I haven’t been injured a single time here as they put so much emphasis on safety and have dedicated adult classes on Monday & Wednesday which are more focused on technique and set-ups which means you can train at a lighter pace if you’re concerned about injuries. My favorite part of the Monday & Wednesday class is at the end when we get to practice controlled throws on each other on a huge crash pad - it feels like magic when you’re thrown effortlessly through a well-executed judo move and it’s a lot of fun landing on the crash pad too! Of course, they do have more intense classes on Tuesday and Thursday if you want to spar or train alongside active competitors. They have students that are at a world-class level here which humbles me every time I train.

CJ Judo is top notch. Chuck is awesome with the kids and our kids stay engaged and challenged while having a ton of fun. My kids always walk out happier than when they arrive and that’s a pretty great sign CJ Judo is doing a great job along with teaching how to work hard, have fun, and not only be a great athlete, but a great human treating others with respect.

My family visited Chuck Jefferson Judo Thursday. We live in Nevada and travel around to other Dojos as we have no Dojo where we live. Chuck is an amazing instructor. He took time with my 5 kids and helped them improve on throws and Newaza. My kids compete a lot and Chuck was able to adjust his lessons to each of my child's needs. His staff was also amazing. They also helped and worked with my kids. No matter what level judo you need, from beginning to advanced competition, you will find it here. I wish I lived in San Jose as I would happily call his dojo my home.
