Excellent club! Started training here around 7 years ago and always had a warm welcome and a great learning experience. I was initially nervous about attending as I had never done anything similar however I was integrated into the sessions gradually by coaches and students allowing me to learn and adapt as the sessions passed. This is certainly something I wish I had started sooner. I have also recently started my 5 year old son in the BJJ junior class and I would highly recommend this he thoroughly enjoys every session.

As someone starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in my mid-40s, I was initially apprehensive, but the friendly and welcoming atmosphere instantly put me at ease. The coaches are incredibly supportive, making it easy for newcomers to feel at home, no matter their age or experience level. I'm thrilled to say that my 8-year-old daughter is also a member, and I've seen remarkable improvements in her fitness and confidence since joining. If you're considering starting BJJ, don’t hesitate. It’s truly a life-changing sport that anyone can benefit from. Give it a try—you won’t regret it!
Posted 1 year agoCan’t recommend this gym enough! I was hesitant about starting but I’ve been made to feel welcome by everyone since day one. Duffy and his coaches Craig and Garin are top class competitors who are able to break down techniques in an easy to understand way. Definitely pop down for a free session and see it for yourself!
Posted 1 year agoUnbelievable gym. Started my jiu jitsu training around 12 months ago. First entering the gym I was pretty nervous, the lads welcomed me with smiles and banter. The atmosphere is unreal and it’s a privilege to be able to say I’m part of it. The black belt coach Duffy just tops the gym off. Patients of a saint and treats everyone with the same respect. He’s the reason I fell in love with jiu jitsu and the reason I’ll never stop. Team Checkmat all the way 🙏🏽
Posted 1 year agoI cant recommend this place highly enough, I attend the adult classes and my 5 year old son attends the kids classes. The coaching is top quality, great atmosphere on the mats, (no egos) everyone wants to help everyone else get better. A great place to start or continue training jiu jitsu.
