  I've been training at this jiu-jitsu gym for a few months now, and they've somehow managed to create an environment that's simultaneously world-class, friendly, and ridiculously addictive. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and occasionally sadistic. The training is top-notch, with a focus on technique and self-improvement that's perfect for everyone from beginners to seasoned competitors. But what really sets this gym apart is the community. Everyone is welcoming, supportive, and always willing to lend a hand (or a shoulder to cry on, depending on how your training session is going). The atmosphere is electric, the training is exceptional, and the people are amazing. If you're looking for a place to learn, sweat, and maybe even cry a little, look no further.

  I've been to five gyms in Charlotte (visiting from Vegas) and this is the only one I would return to for a second time. Piper leads a good class with technique and detail. Gym is clean and good vibes. Multiple class times and a variety of skill levels. And unlike many gyms in the area, THEY ROLL at the end of class. How refreshing! Thanks for the rolls. Oooooossssssss!

  I've been dropping in at CJJA while visiting family in the area for almost 10 years now, and since day one, it feels like my home away from home. John is the man, despite being busy and having tons of students, he always takes the time to show he cares. He’s genuinely welcoming and creates an environment where everyone feels like they belong. This place sets the standard for what a Jiu-Jitsu academy should be.

  While on a work trip I dropped in for both a no-gi and a gi class and both were phenomenal. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, from the instructors to the students. Classes were a good size and a variety of skill levels. The facilities themselves were very well maintained, clean, and had a great energy to them. I plan to drop in whenever work brings me back to Charlotte.

  CJJA welcomed me with open arm bars, literally. I came into town for the holiday and found a place that felt like home. The coach, “Panda” and the team were great! Learned some new technique in the class and had the opportunity to roll with the team afterwards. Looking forward to coming back whenever in Charlotte. Highly recommend for anyone in the area, and those looking for a great school when visiting.
