From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome. The coaches are patient, encouraging, and clearly care about each student's growth, not just their skills on the mat. The classes are well structured, the environment is positive, and the recognition system keeps students motivated. I’ve seen real gains in confidence, focus, and discipline in so many people there. Can't recommend Champs enough!
My son has been going to Champs BJJ for nearly a year and I couldn’t be more happier for him. My son gained so much physical strength and confidence through well designed courses, Coach Oliver, Kate, Jayden, Riley and Sean all impacted my son in such positive way along his journey so far. Can’t recommend more!
I started my son here in Jan 2026 because I wanted him to get focused and disciplined. Now, a few months later, I have so much good things to say. The team is truly a gem; they are professional and friendly, the recognition system in place for the children to grow and blossom is fair and encouraging, and you see the growth of your child. I love that they offer monthly life lessons and badges to motivate the children to do good in all areas of their lives, like family, integrity, and discipline. I also love their class schedule, which makes it convenient to join the classes weekly based on my own work schedule. If you are considering sending your child, it will be worth it. I contemplated a few months before starting my son, and I am happy I made the decision.
I love champs!I’ve been training here for almost two years and I have to say the coaches here are like a family with everyone- they manage to build special bonds with everyone, I love it.I highly recommend for any ages it is such a fun thing to do and an amazing thing to know how to protect yourself. All of the coaches are so sweet here-Coach Sean has helped my confidence so much and is so reassuring, in addition to the head coaches Sean and shiv they have such amazing younger female coaches Riley and Vlada who I always feel like I can talk to and are so helpful when learning new techniques. First joining champs was so scary for me as a young girl because I thought fighting (mma) was for boys however I have felt so welcomed and made many new friends (girls and guys) champs academy provides a good range of classes going from leadership class (leadership is for students who help the coaches coach the younger children),advanced,adult, kickboxing,no-gi, comp and of course comp class. I have tried the kick boxing and it is also super fun! Coach shiv is awesome
Champ’s Academy has taken in my 6 year old daughter as if she’s been a part of the Jiu Jitsu family forever. The transition has been so natural. She absolutely loves it. And I have already seen an improvement in her respect for me at home and other authority figures, her confidence has gone up and positive changes are happening at school. She really likes to learn each new technique and talks to me about it afterwards too. All the leaders are wonderful. Thank you!!
If you are looking for martial arts for your kids in Barrie, this one is the best. It’s a family operating and professional approach. They have same trainers for years and kids love them I know them personally for 4 years. My 2 boys always excited to go there . Very affordable fees. They also offering onsite and online training, which is good alternative in our days . Quality uniforms is included in membership fees. Facility is very clean and after renovation looks sharp and fresh. Very good program and location. Highly recommended.
Recently joined champs Academy for my son, he is learning to Jitsu. Staff is very professional and trainers are really friendly and professional. Giving four stars for a reason 1) Need a proper change room facility 2) water dispenser does not have dispensing glasses -if you have a bottle, you can refill it but if you forgot, then you cannot use a water. Overall, it’s really great place for kids to learn the skills. I would recommend people. .
