Strive BJJ in Norwich is genuinely outstanding. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the members make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The coaches and experienced members are incredibly knowledgeable and always ready to help you fine tune a technique or understand something properly. You can tell they care about every person on the mats. My 6-year-old has been in Junior Jitsu since he was 4, and the difference it’s made to him is unbelievable. Each session has helped him grow in confidence, focus, and discipline. It’s given him resilience, better coordination and agility, and taught him real life skills like self-control, problem-solving, and teamwork. It’s all done in a fun, non-aggressive environment that encourages kids to push themselves in the right way. He absolutely loves it. My 16-year-old has had the same boost. He comes out of each session on a high, sharper in his mindset and stronger in his confidence. It’s given him purpose, routine, and the drive to start training at the gym too. The transformation has been incredible. And for me, Strive has become a huge part of my week. It’s the best stress relief I’ve found. My fitness has improved, my head feels clearer, it is something I didn’t know I needed until I found it. It’s a proper escape from the day to day. Couldn’t recommend Strive enough for kids, teens, or adults. It’s a brilliant place run by brilliant people.
Wish I could give more stars! My two children attend here twice a week. The instructors are knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They’re so patient with the children. Thank you Karl, Bryan, Tee and Leo!

Fantastic BJJ gym with a great, positive atmosphere. I joined as a complete beginner and couldn’t have asked for a better place to start BJJ. Training is well structured but still very relaxed, the mats are always clean, and the coaches are hugely knowledgeable and patient.
The development I’ve seen in my two children here is truly amazing—confidence, attitude, and focus have all grown tremendously. The coaching is TOP tier, and the atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming. If you’re on the fence about giving it a try, go for it—you won’t regret it!
Brilliant gym with top-quality coaching and a really welcoming atmosphere. Classes are well structured, everyone’s supportive, and you genuinely feel yourself improving every session. Highly recommend Strive BJJ to anyone thinking of starting or levelling up.

Started training here 6 months ago and cannot fault it at all. Karl has created a great gym and fantastic environment to learn BJJ. Everyone is super helpful and friendly and really supportive to new people. Can’t wait to get back on the mats and learn more. Posted 1 year agoI've trained with karl basically since open and stayed for a very simple reason, karl takes the principles off BJJ and blends it with you it's not just one submission fits all, you can explore different ideas and unlike most instructors he very keen to learn from the best available source of knowledge whether that's him or someone else in the room, he encourages his students to teach their knowledge as well which to me shows he sees value in their skill, for me you can get a version of BJJ anywhere but you'll get the best version of your Jiu-Jitsu at strive.
Posted 1 year agoFantastic BJJ club. Been at the club now for ~5 months, the coaching style is player-centric and the team are super friendly. But what I love most about the club is the peer to peer learning. Everyone is generous with their knowledge and ALSO receptive of new knowledge - great learning environment. If you’re looking to do Brazilian Jui Jitsu in the Norwich area, you must try Strive BJJ!
Posted 1 year agoI would call this club a ‘hidden gem’. Being on the outskirts of Norwich means it’s a little more out of the way but has great access for people living in the city as well as people that live outside of it. The club itself is run by a coach, Karl, with 20+ years experience in martial arts. Karl is conscientious and very mindful of cleanliness in the gym. He has created a learning environment that is safe and supportive. He attends every competition that members sign up to and is more interested in coaching his members than he is in developing his own competition game. This means that he shares knowledge freely and problem solves openly with a modern jiujitsu style. There are classes suitable for children and teens. With coaches that are committed to junior development in jiujitsu. All coaches at the club are DBS checked, first aid qualified and regulated by the UK Brazilian JiuJitSu association. From a female perspective this gym is certainly a ‘green flag’. There is a weekly Just Women class which has increased the female members at the club. With a mindset of ‘Championing’ women the club is well accustomed to mixed sparring in a safe way that everyone benefits from. Join Strive, and you join a growing team committed to helping each other and rising together.
