No regrets!
My boys started at Bae's Martial Arts after we had the chance to see some experienced students training to attend a national competition about 7 years ago. What has kept us involved is the values that echo within the schools walls, to name a few, integrity, honesty, accountability, sportsmanship, and commitment. I feel, by design, that martial arts provides a stable, predictable, environment that kids thrive in. Master Edwards and the instructors teach what helps on the traing floor and in life. Baes allows for a person to train at least 1 hour per day for six days per week with an instructor. You can also take up weapons training when your skill level allows for it. If you know anything about sport these kinds of hours are not something you can get just anywhere. I feel the value for the membership pays for itself knowing that my kids are working hard while having fun and being surrounded by mentors (and if I want, I can stay and watch the class).
I find that Bae's is a place where kids can develop awareness of themselves and how they relate to the world around them in a safe space. There is nothing more rewarding to me as a parent than to see kids grow from awkward and unsure to strong and confident. Even the youngest and least experienced get a chance to lead here. Everyone learns from everyone.
After a few years at Bae's, one of my boys chose to step away from martial arts. Not long before he did, I found myself on the training floor. This will always be a proud mom moment for me, being able to hang out with my kids and learn with them. Why sit on the sidelines if I can participate as well?! My boys relish the idea of being able to see how much better they can be than their parents at something. And they are!
We have a blue belt, red belt and black belt in our family at this point. 2 of us continue training at this point.
Don't bother coming to this school unless you value hard work, dedication and respect. Regardless of your skills and knowledge, come with williningness to learn and you will see the difference in you and/or your kids. There are bumps, bruises, and tears in this dojang AND there are laughs, celebrations and friendships that seem to last a lifetime from what I can tell.
Thank you Bae's Family for helping me raise my boys!
