AP Jiu Jitsu is an incredible place to train!
From the moment you step onto the mats, you can tell this is more than just a gym—it’s a family. The professor at AP Jiu Jitsu (Andre Pontes) is extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented, breaking down techniques in a way that makes them easy to understand and apply. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, the coaches here take the time to ensure that you’re learning and growing in every class.
What really sets AP Jiu Jitsu apart is the atmosphere. Everyone here is supportive, welcoming, and dedicated to helping each other improve. It’s a place where egos are left at the door, and you truly feel like part of a team. If you're looking for top-notch instruction in a friendly and encouraging environment, AP Jiu Jitsu is the place to be!
Highly recommend to anyone looking to train Jiu Jitsu!
I joined this academy in August of 2022 and have been thoroughly impressed with the experience. I went to several locations prior to making a decision. The Professors and coaches at this academy are not only excellent but also incredibly attentive to each student's needs. In particular, Professor Andres stands out for his remarkable knowledge and technical expertise in Jiu Jitsu.
What sets Professor Andres apart is his patience and understanding of each student's unique characteristics, including age, fitness level, and body type. He tailors his guidance to ensure that everyone can excel in their training, regardless of their starting point. His emphasis on adapting the game and training to individual abilities fosters a supportive and inclusive environment. As an older athlete (48 years old) I am going to have differences in how I can train and the techniques I can use and Professor Andres guides all of his students to their strengths.
One of the standout features of this academy is the sense of camaraderie among its members. The people who train here have formed a tight-knit community, evolving from training partners to great friends. The positive atmosphere and encouragement from the staff and fellow students contribute to making this academy an awesome place to learn and practice Jiu Jitsu. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, the academy's focus on individualized coaching and the sense of community make it a fantastic choice for anyone looking to improve their skills and enjoy the journey of Jiu Jitsu.
I took classes for about 6 months and I can honestly say, I liked the experience a lot. Professors and the coach are all, awesome teachers, who are understanding and patient, towards individual learning needs and limitations. I had to stop due to some personal reasons and I hope to be back, as soon as reasonably possible. All the best to all my teachers and team mates!
AP Jiu Jitsu is an exceptional studio to enroll your child (or yourself) in. We were first brought to the studio through a family friend who brought my son during Buddy Week. This was an experience that AP JJ promotes to allow currently enrolled practitioners to bring a friend to try out the studio. My son was instantly hooked. Professor André and Coach Vong are super adept at keeping kids engaged, learning and growing as both practitioners of BJJ and contributing young citizens to our society. One of the stand out teachings I have enjoyed is their attention to how the children are behaving outside of the studio. Pushing them to represent themselves, their families and the studio in the highest light and respect they can achieve. Monthly homework sheets are administered and required to be returned at the end of the month with a minimum quota to receive credit.
The studio participates in local in-house (and affiliate studio) tournaments which are great starting grounds for kids who are interested in participating in other tournaments such as DREAM and JJ world league.
If you are looking to build your child’s confidence, strength, accountability and purpose, AP JJ is a great choice.
The children really seem to vibe with each other and they are constantly encouraging and teaching one another.
They also have adult classes for any adults looking to explore the world of BJJ. The mixture of ages and backgrounds is prevalent for the adult classes.
Thinking of signing up? Don’t wait….it’s a great time to start.
My son has been coming for over a year and a half. it's been the best his confidence is at an all time high and he's making some great friends. He's also been getting into competing and loves going to the tournaments. I have been coming to the adult classes and they have been great too. I highly recommend this gym.
Excellent environment, everything you want from a BJJ gym. The professor is accomplished, knowledgeable, patient, and caring. The coaches are as attentive as they are dashing (especially that Vong character). Plus there is a cute pup that'll bark sweet nothings to you mid-roll.
Enrolling my 7-year-old daughter in Jiu-Jitsu was a decision to build her confidence and stop being bullied. Little did we anticipate the profound impact it would have on her. What unfolded exceeded our expectations. Through her journey, she has not only flourished on the mat but also blossomed into a more empowered individual off it. Prof Andre and Coach Vong have masterfully guided the children, nurturing not just their jiu-jitsu skills but also instilling values of integrity and sportsmanship. Their dedication has transformed these youngsters into not only formidable competitors but also exemplary individuals poised for success both on and off the mats. I highly recommend this gym for your kiddos too.
This review comes about 1.5 months after my son and I have joined Andres Pontes Jiu Jitsu Academy (AP Jiu Jitsu). My son is 8 and attends the kids classes while I attend adult class. My son attends classes about 4-5 times per week, while I attend class about 3-4 times per week (barring injury). What stands out about AP Jiu Jitsu to me is Professor Andres’ passion for jiu jitsu not just as a sport but as a philosophy for living a positive and disciplined lifestyle.
The kids classes are amazing. Not only does Professor Andres and Coach Vong teach them technical skills of the sport, but they also teach great character building for the kids by assigning monthly homework to promote respect, courage, compassion, goal setting, etc.
The adult classes offer a wealth of knowledge with a weekly curriculum of techniques that is also posted online to assist with progression.
I would definitely recommend AP Jiu Jitsu to anyone wanting start or continue their jiu jitsu training.
Under the guidance of Andre, the school offers world-class teaching, exceptional drilling sessions, and an incredibly welcoming environment both on and off the mats.
The combination of top-notch teaching, exceptional drilling sessions, and Andre's warm personality create an environment that fosters growth, camaraderie, and an unparalleled passion for BJJ. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you will find yourself welcomed and challenged in the best possible way.
I had the opportunity to visit Logos on holiday from Colorado. I was given the chance most people don't get very often, a one on one session with Vong. During our session, I was able to go over multiple techniques and positions that I was working through as a blue belt. Vong was very engaging and eager to answer all the questions I had. I have nothing but good things to say about this gym and wish I was in town longer. Thank you Logos for having me. If you are ever in the area and are looking for a place to train, I highly recommend Logos.
Great team atmosphere and intensely fun training experience. Professor Andre, Coach George and Coach Vong are fantastic mentors to myself, two of my sons and now my 6 year old daughter. Do yourself a favor and come down and try a free class. You won't regret it. I'm almost 47 years old and a white belt and am having a blast training with this group as are my kids. I can honestly say that training at the Andre Pontes Jiu Jitsu Acadamy has changed our lives for the better. We have all become better people physically and mentally and have made some really wonderful friends in the process.
I was in town from Nashville for a few days and Andre was super cool about letting me drop in and train while I was in town. It’s an awesome non corporate feeling gym with a cool close family vibe. I appreciate you guys and see you next time!
Professor Brent is a great instructor. Kind and patient, always willing to explain throughly if something isn’t clicking. His students are very lucky to have someone so dedicated to teaching jiu jitsu.
Exceptional new facility with top notch instruction from Professor Littell. Very welcoming place for new students and convenient location for the nearby freeway. Deserves serious consideration if you are interested in Jiu Jitsu.
Thank you Brett for sharing this moment. It was really a huge pleasure. I hope we will meet again. The boys are really gentle and very cool.
I can't wait to share with my coach.
🙏🙏🙏
The instructors here are the real deal! If you're looking to get into jiu jitsu you cannot go wrong with this place. Whether you're looking to learn self defense, get in shape or surround yourself with positive/driven people this is the place for you. Highly recommend!
First time trying jiu Jitsu and I enjoyed it. The instructors are very attentive and aware of everyone. The students are respectful and welcoming. I am glad i came and joined. Definitely recommend it!
Great atmosphere, clean mats and fun environment! Being a middle aged female in a predominantly male sport has made me push harder and want to learn more. Brent and Tim are very patient and knowledgeable, they are GREAT professors! I love Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu!
The instructors Brent and Tim exceeded my expectations, and push me everytime I attend class. They are both extremely knowledgeable, and show a great amount of patience. The classes are taught at a nice pace, so you may be able to keep up regardless of your level of experience. There's s nothing but great camaraderie, and positive vibes in the area! Be sure to bring water because you'll need it after each session! If you're looking for a great form of cardio, and a full body workout this is it!
