Jannel is an amazing instructor! We are thrilled with the little dragons program our son is in!
I looooovvve ms.jannel is the best I recommend going here!!
We love Ancient Ways. Mr. Noah is always excited to engage with the students. We love Ancient Ways!!!!
Ancient ways has been super for my nephew, George. Grand Master Brown is the best instructor in the area. Bring your entire family for a life changing experience.
This place is just amazing. My son is a bit of a handful and often needs extra help ensuring he stays focused and Janelle is always there to make sure he gets the attention he needs. Noah is clear and direct and they're both just amazing instructors! Thanks Hanshi Brown!
My 3 girls go here they absolutely enjoy it and have a great time!! “A Black Belt must first be worn within your heart before you may wear one around your waist.” **Ms. Jannel is our favorite instructor** 😊
We are super excited to be a part of the Ancient Way martial arts family. Everyone has been so encouraging and supportive of my child’s development. He enjoys coming to class and he especially has been having a blast and learning a lot in class with Mr. Noah. Thank you to the entire Ancient Wasys staff and we highly recommend their programs!!!
My 5 year old grandson has participated in the classes at Ancient Ways for the past 5 months. He has gained confidence, maturity and made better choices with his behavior because of the wonderful support and encouragement he has received from Mr. Noah, Mrs. Janell, and Hanshi Boon. Mr. Noah has been a very patient, positive instructor. Not only are a variety of martial arts skills the focus of each class, but all of the instructors relay the importance of respectful behavior, integrity, and excellence to their students. Mr. Noah makes class fun, exciting and challenging. I am very pleased with the experience we have had at Ancient Ways.
My son loves Ancient Ways, he always looks forward to going to class! He's getting private lessons now, and everyone is so nice. They also have really fun events, like the recent Christmas party. I'm so glad we found this place! :)
Super Motivated Instructors! Their flexible schedule has completely worked for my Mommy Life. Truly recommend.
My son and I love Ancient Ways. He has learned so much in just 4 months. His confidence and respect has greatly improved. The instructors for Little Dragons are fantastic!! Thank you for all you are doing for my son!
My son has been attending this dojo for a little while now, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! The Senseis are fantastic—knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in each student’s growth. They take extra care with those students with extra needs while still encouraging personal development; An incredible balance that most dojo can only wish to achieve What stands out to me is their holistic approach. They focus not only on self-defense techniques but also on building confidence, discipline, and a positive mindset The community is incredibly supportive, making it a welcoming environment for kids of all levels. I highly recommend this dojo for any parent looking for a place that nurtures both physical and personal development. We’re excited to continue this journey!
Master brown is a good teacher and a lot of teaching us the best ways to protect ourselves in the real world
AWMA was my safe haven growing up. It was a space I could go to where I felt loved and was treated as family- I started at the young age of 6 and was their first after school program student. Master Brown and the other instructors taught me so many skills that I use in my daily life, it’s really so much more than self defense. Even now, living hundreds of miles away living my own life, I can attribute much of my success, and alot of my ability to handle disappointment to growing up in this studio. I’m 30 now and I still think of AWMA as family and my safe haven. Much love to the Brown’s, I hope to see them soon!
This has been a blessing for my child with Adhd. He is so focused with Martial Arts and is learning self control. I highly recommend!
Master Brown and his staff here at Ancient ways are more than just martial arts teachers they are family from the moment you walk in the door. They are hands on with your child outside of class as well. They genuinely care about your child’s well being and want to help your child succeed in life! I appreciate each and every one of them! Thank you again for all that you do! You guys rock!
This has been the best decision for my introverted and very shy daughter. She is 7 years old an starting to come out of her shell. The owner and instructors go above and beyond teaching her skills and lessons mentally and physically. We have tried everything from dance to gymnastics to horse back riding lessons and she would never want to go to class and now after 13 weeks at ancient ways she is excited to go to class and doesn’t want to miss it. I can’t rave enough about this place.
Absolutely amazing. I have been going there for years and it has helped me grow in many ways. The instructors lift everyone up and make sure you are learning. I would recommend it to anyone I meet!
Really been impressed with Ancient Ways from day one. After months of our 8yo son having an affinity toward the, “Ninja Kids”, we decided to get him involved in a program. After researching local establishments, we easily arrived with Ancient Ways based on great reviews and word of mouth. What started as the basic 1 year program to see if he would like it turned into two legacy memberships and we couldn’t be happier, possibly more in the future with the other kiddos. Our son’s manners and leadership has begun to improve noticeably, he says yes sir/mam, and overall maturing as a young man. I’ve actually joined the program so that we can practice martial arts together which has been such a delight and challenge. When you actually take the time to listen to the staff, you begin to see that they really do have a genuine vested interest in training their students. It’s not sales tactics and pushiness as I’ve heard others say. They just are frank about the reality of being successful with the program. If they didn’t encourage parents to engage more, sign up siblings (or themselves), sign up for more in-depth programs, motivate kids to push through on days they don’t want to attend, no one would succeed at this at their programs and they would just loose interest. Of course they have a business to run and overhead to cover, however, you get what you put into something and if you take the time to truly engage, it’s hard to not see the thoughtfulness of staff and what they put into the program. Again, very happy with GM Brown and staff! Above reproach!
Ancient Ways is a great martial arts academy! I highly recommend it for great caring people and excellent training.
Fantastic martial arts school! I've been coming here for 6 years and soon will be bringing my granddaughter!
My daughter attends here and we absolutely love all the instructors. The Martial arts program is helping my daughter with fine motor skills and coordination along with confidence. The atmosphere is always professional and courteous. I am so glad that enrolled my daughter here!
The Ancient Ways family entered my life just after I had turned 3 years old. Initially, they wouldn't accept students below 5-6, but Master Brown saw my enthusiasm and determination and decided to let me give it a try. Throughout my 13 years of training and being associated with Ancient Ways, I've been taught a variety of life lessons, and have been given the childhood I never thought I would have. My home life was extremely rough, but Grandmaster Brown, Nidan Jannel, and Master Brennon made it a point to keep me focused and dedicated to my training, and make sure that whatever care and attention I didn't get at home, I got while I was in the studio. Grandmaster Brown served as the father I didn't have in many instances throughout my life, and helped my mother and I through quite a few dark times. Brennon and Jannel treat me like a sibling and I've always felt safe, loved, and accepted in their presence. The environment and air of positivity, connection, and warrior spirit in the dojo is unlike anywhere else I've been. Even outside of the dojo, the Browns and fellow Ancient Ways students have assisted me and kept in touch when needed. Master Brennon taught me to play chess, assisted me with remembering forms upon my return from a long hiatus, and even took time to tutor me for an upcoming math exam. Nidan Jannel has been a figure of inspiration and motivation for me, and when times got rough, she'd offer to pick me up and drive to the studio if it meant getting me into a better state of mind. There is no doubt in my heart or my mind that Ancient Ways and the Browns are my family. Master Brown, whenever you may read this, please know that I am eternally grateful for all you've done to help me and my family stay on the right track, and for the fact that you never let me give up on myself.
My brother attends here and he’s loving it he has created a great relationship with the staff and has learned so much from here. he has developed a lot of self confidence and new respect. :))
The instructor is great with my kids they both have a blast when they come they both can’t wait till it’s time to go to class the instructors all work very well with my kids sometimes one on one witch is great cause my youngest is artistic I would highly recommend this place to anyone
We love all the instructors at ancient ways. They have all been great to my son. He has grown so much in the 9 months he's been attending classes here. Martial arts class is the highlight of my sons day. He's grown mentally and physically so much. Thank you for all yall do and being a positive influence on Drew.
We have been with ancient ways for over a year. We love this family, and the integrity and dedication they have. We can’t say enough positive things about Ancient ways!
My son has been going here for about 9months and we absolutely love the school. Not only do they teach Martial Arts but there always doing extra activities. Tournaments, parent/student night, parents night out and fundraisers. My son was in a different Martial Arts school before ancient ways and we took him out because it was a joke. This school is amazing and teaching my son (and me) to be a "Ninja" as my son calls it. EVERY teacher is awesome and I feel my son is safe when being there!
This school saved my life and is continuing to save my life . I have gone here since I was 6 years old I'm now a Adult. And iv known masterbrown and his kids since they wer littel (are currently my age now) I promise your childrens safety in everyway possible here. sometimes when people can't Go after there main target they move on to friends or family Little bit of a sissy move in my opinion but anyways .. If you really knew this school and the people in it like i do you would know that this will be the safest, best deaicion in you or your child's intire life. It teaches respect and discipline and much more within yourselves and others. Grand Master brown is the Best instructer and frankly a father figure for my own passed away in 2021. I promise on every bit of oxygen in me this Buissness dose not deserve what is Happening to them at the moment. This place is my 2nd home and i would never change that EVER no matter how many people instigate the situation the real True group of people who know the same instrutors I know would never give up on anchiant ways that quickly. (Accusations) I train here 2 - 3 Times a week and I can promise the only thing coming from all the instructors is Discipline, Love , Respect, and much more and you will never get this true genuine unique Development in your child or family members ANYWEAR Els. ❤- Love, Long Term Adult Student..
My 4 year old comes and we love the structure it brings to him and they help with behavior
Ancient Ways is the BEST MARTIAL ARTS Studio in Manatee County. Both me and my boys trained for years under GrandMaster Brown. He was a crucial person in helping keep both my boys from bad influences as they grew up and helped me as a female build confidence in my ability to protect myself. I would highly recommend!!
The instructors here are awesome!!! Grand Master Brown, Master Brown, Miss Brooklyn, Mrs. Thompson know what they are doing and teaching. Not just in Martial Arts, but also physical fitness, stretching, calming the mind and styles of teaching are just amazing. Everyone gets some attention every class. They welcome friends that come to watch, not to just sit, but get up and involved. My 9 yr son loves it and I love that. Its great seeing/watching him want to do more!
My son has been with ancient ways since this past summer. What started a sunmer program for him became something he has become excited and passionate about. After one week of camp he was begging to sign up. It took two trial classes and he was hooked. We even signed up before his trial was over. Fast forward to now, he’s a green belt and advanced to their black belt club. For a long time he has struggled to really find his place. He has some very minor mobility problems, not enough that his day to day is greatly affected, but enough that traditional sports and some things in school proved to be more difficult. Karate became the place where he wasn’t different. He could participate, and I’ve seen his physicality improve ten fold since starting, even his ortho noticed a difference at his annual follow up! Karate is the place where he doesn’t feel different, and everyone welcomes him. Not only that but it has given him a confidence he didn’t have before, and that confidence and has moved also to the classroom. His behavior has improved and his work ethic has gotten so much better. Ancient ways is a family run school, and it shows. Each person in that family is so kind. And all the instructors are incredible. They aren’t there to just teach martial arts, they take a vested interest in our child. They share in his milestones, his achievements, and when his behavior at home is less than ideal, they are there to help guide him. As a parent, I know there’s ways I need to improve, and they have on countless times helped me through difficult behaviors at home and gave me ways to navigate through that. We have seen changes in our child AND the way we’ve been able to parent for the better. We love ancient ways, and are excited for the years to come there.
Very positive and therapeutic/physical/mental enhancement to be a well rounded individual.
I love Ancient Ways. People are super nice and helpful. Instructors are great and they make class fun. It’s my happy place.
Fantastic instruction and facility
This is a great program, keeps my little guy busy. It challenges him while giving him a sense of accomplishment when get starts learning new things and loves to teach me his moves at home. I also love that he has a tool of self defense under his belt and gets better by the day! Thank you to all the instructors. :)
Ancient way first came to my sons elementry school for a 2wk trial and he immediately was hooked. He'd come home wanting to show me his new moves and all that he's learned. He started taking classes at their dojo in September, they are attentive and really take the time to learn each child's personality, strength, and weaknesses and goals. The instructor are knowledgeable, kind, energetic, animated and great with the kids. They also teach teens and adults. The facility is well kept and clean. The students are respectful and are welcoming to newcomers. My 5yr was a bit intimidated when he started taking classes at the dojo and was reluctant to participate, the new environment and the larger groups and just being around new people was a bit much for him. The instructor were patient and worked with him 1:1 in a corner untill he was ready to join the rest of the class. In a short 3wks his confidence has taken a full 360. He now shows up eager to join the class. Highly recommend this for anyone.
I've known Boone Brown for years and the passion for martial arts that he brings to Ancient Ways is unparalleled. His dedication to the art and teaching others is evident in the way he talks about his school and his students. If you're looking for a place that is committed to the growth and development of its students both in skill and character, then you should check out Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy.
My daughter has enjoyed every moment of her experience with the team. She started with the initial after-school program, and we decided it was an excellent fit for her, so we continued her training.
My wife, daughters and I all LOVE training at Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy! Can't wait for my next class!!!
I’m a student, and honestly this has been a life changer. The teachers are nice and funny, and it’s fun to just do everything, the teachers know how to explain stuff so that you will understand. If any of you are thinking to learn martial arts but don’t know where the place where I most recommend it’s ancient ways. And that’s why I rate it five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️If I could I would do 40 stars. By the way if any of the teachers are reading this my name is Fabio Hernandez,I wrote this with my mom and dad
My son can’t wait for class days! This studio is well run with excellent communication. It’s easy to find class times that work in our busy family schedule. Instructors make classes fun while be patient and having solid expectations. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to attend.
We started with a promotion for 2 weeks of classes for our 3 and a half year old son. We signed up for 6 months of classes by the second or third time attending. Brooklyn is the most kind, patient, fun, and talented instructor! It is mind-blowing that all she has to say is "Attention!" And she gets 10 three/four year olds to stand still and pay attention! :) Our son begs all week long to go to class. He has learned so much discipline, confidence and respect just in the past 30 days. He says yes ma'am and yes sir and even teaches us about respect! We are so grateful to have found Ancient Ways. The entire staff is very welcoming, caring, and talented. We are so happy to be a part of this family for life!
Where do I begin? Grandmaster Brown runs this show and he has assembled an amazing crew of caring, capable and charismatic mentors who have not only totally bought in, but have spent their lifetimes learning and teaching the Ancient Ways. I have a 4yo in the Little Dragons program and the most excited he gets all week is when he has his classes. I’ll probably get some names and titles slightly wrong, but he loves Miss Nidan Jannel and Miss Brooklyn and these two decorated black belts have the attention that I sometimes can’t even get from my son myself. Here, my son learns respect, restraint and honor. We all know how little guys and girls can be sometimes, but Ancient Ways is a worthwhile supplement that enhances your child’s understanding of what to do, and when to do the right thing. An essential tool in the toolbox of life. Everyone here is a genuine pro and I cannot stress enough how highly I recommend Ancient Ways. Come in and watch a little. Meet Grandmaster Brown and his family. Meet his students who have grown and learned to become his trusted teachers. It’s more than classes, it’s a way of life - when you put your trust into people your kids spend their time with without your full attention, here is where you want them. If I could give them six+ stars I would.
Even though we've only been coming for a few months now, we feel and get treated like family. I love the atmosphere. They are so friendly, cool and make us feel so comfortable. I love that it's a non judgemental place. My girls enjoy it! They are the best! Definitely recommend to all group ages. I have zero complaints. I love everything they offer.
We are super happy with the progress that Chloe has made thanks to Miss Brooklyn and the classes, highly recommended
I had moved to Bradenton with my partner, and he had been so stressed and needed a place to help. Finding this place we sat and planned that it was worth the money and the time to get back into martial arts. The place has become a home, amazing friends and place to be. I had watched my partner become much more, I forever will be thankful to this place. Because I wanted a place for us to be safe, to be loved. This place welcomes everyone, no matter. To anyone leaving negative reviews hasn’t really seen this place for what it has been. This is truly a dojo worthy of striving happiness. Compassion, honor, sacrifice, integrity.
I cannot say enough about this school! Every staff member here has shown me patience and understanding as well as helping me understand how to train a body that's approaching 60. After seeing how the students love and respect Grandmaster Brown and his staff, as well as the respect he and his staff show everyone, I have decided that this school will be the place I always go to and have accepted a Legacy membership. There is no need for me to go anywhere else.
My son loved being there, Masters are very thorough and very professional yet kind.. and students are having fun. My Son gonna miss coming here (moving).. Good bye for now. :(
Instructors are nice and friendly. Staffs take care of all my questions. Classmates are actively caring about each other and helping each other. I recommend the Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy to who is interested in learning martial arts and seeking additional friendship.
Great weapons class the other night. It is fun getting back into martial Arts after many decades. Just do it and have fun is my thought before each class.
So far my daughter is enjoying martial arts !!!
We really enjoy the class. All the instructors are very supportive, caring, and professional The atmosphere is always fun and positive which we love. We really appreciate the staff and students. We look forward continuing our programs.
I love this place… my son loves going here and everyone that works here are great…
My son loves Ancient Ways and the teachers there are awesome! Everything all the way around is awesome about ancient ways. I would highly recommend this for everyone.
Great school and great culture.
An amazing martial arts school with talented instructors!
Amazing experience— would recommend to all. Excellent Source of Character Development for kids!
Ancient Ways has done so much for my three children - so much more than just self defense skills! They have gained confidence in their abilities and , therefore, have better self- esteem. They all are doing well in school with improved grades and focus. They have made good friends at Ancient Ways . This place is like extended family! Thank you Grandmaster Brown and all of your exceptional staff members for all you do for your students.
Went here as a kid and it was amazing going back soon I do recommend it’s a amazing place
Its a wonderful experience for our family.
We love the instructors and the vibe they present in each class. Our son started his journey to a black belt about 6 weeks ago. We have already considered making it a family afair and enjoy some time together. Getting our minds right, come check it out its so worth it. 😜
Very clean place. Ms Tanja was very kind and informative.
In the short time we have been with Ancient Ways we have already become part of the family. The instructors are kind and patient. Looking forward to many years of training with them.
I have a lot of fun while training.
I Went Here As A Young Teen And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVED It!! DEFINITELY Looking forward to going back someday! Really wished I had never stopped going! I miss it very much! I Look forward to going back someday and eventually enrolling my child when she is the age required!! Master Brown and his ENTIRE staff become your family away from home! I made LOTS of friendship while being there that I still carried into adulthood and I wouldn't change my time being there for anything!! Love this place and would recommend to ANYONE!
Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy is a wonderful place that has become an everyday constant in our house and in our lives. The staff is wonderful and caring toward any student or parent who walks through the door. They do many things to help the kids and adults of any stature get thru lifes ups and downs and become an inspiration to many if not all.
Our son has been at AWMAA for almost 2 years. We started out with the summer special just to see if he liked it. He fell in love and so did we. As a homeschooled kid, it's given him both exercise and a chance to meet other kids. As the very shy boy he was when we first walked in, I've watched his confidence in himself and his abilities grow as he's learned how to defend himself, how to work with others, follow instructions, and of course recite The Code. When I was diagnosed with cancer over the holidays, coming to class gave him a great outlet as he dealt with his own feelings surrounding that. As he's ranked up, he's been given the opportunity to help teach lower ranks, another great opportunity. Every instructor truly cares about the whole child, not just if they can punch or kick. We recommend AWMAA without hesitation!
My son loves all the instructors and they go well above what instructors in other places do They are caring and loving and make you feel like family and genuinely care about your kid, your not just a money source like some studios. If ever a problem arrives you can count on them to have an open door and a ear to listen.
My son has been attending for 2.5 years & absolutely loves it. He looks forward to his classes, the extra activities & especially summer camp. The instructors are patient & kind and are truly invested in my child. They have been a great support system for helping us through behavioral issues he was having at school. I am so proud of the improvements he has made & all he has learned. I am glad we joined and cannot recommend them enough.
As an adult who was looking to get back into martial arts, I found Ancient Ways through a google search of local schools, and after reviewing their webpage, I made an appointment for an introductory lesson. I noted the studio was well maintained, spotless, with quality equipment. Everyone was having fun, but focused and respectful of each other and the school. I recall talking with Ms. Tanja for about 30 minutes, and I knew I just had to sign up that day. This was where I wanted to be. First, the schedule is exceptionally accommodating. For me, getting out of work at 5pm is simply not an option. The adult and teen classes (at present) start at 7:45pm on 4 days a week. So I actually have the ability to choose classes that fit my schedule. Second, as to the physical components of the classes - there is a blended, grounded reality to training - what is going to protect you out in the real world. I have learned different grappling techniques along with what you would call classic martial arts kicks, punches, and forms. It doesn't matter that you aren't a super dynamic fitness god - everyone can do this material! Everyone can learn to defend themselves, whether you are 8 or 80, and the staff notes your fitness level and goals to help. That said, there are also a lot of electives available outside the core curriculum that let me dig into some areas that I want to add to who I am as a martial artist (sparring, weapons, and even some more dynamic/acrobatic moves). And this school has a committed group of black belts of all ages. Some places, black belts do not really get more advanced curriculum beyond adding a few new kicks or endurance drills. Here, material truly continues on, and you really get the sense that you're on a path that will stay with you a lifetime if you continue. As to the interpersonal, everyone there, from Master Brown to Ms. Tanja, Mr. Brennan and Ms. Tea and Ms. Chevis, all the black belts and other students...they care about /you/. They have taken the time to know me, my goals, and who I am. Everyone there is like family, and it's about becoming a better person on the whole and being wise with your skills. I've definitely become a better partner, attorney, and friend in the past year because of skills I have developed through training at this school. I've never once regretted my decision to sign up with Ancient Ways a year ago. A review here cannot do justice to the impact this well-rounded school has had on my life. I truly recommend this school to anyone looking for physical fitness that is more than just reps at a gym. -Ed Richards
We LOVE Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy! My husband, myself and our oldest daughter (age 5) started in August of 2020 and AWMAA has quickly become our home away from home, a second family and a place for our family to grow together and individually. The staff, students and parents are what make this place so very special. Our 2 year old counts down the days until she can be a Wee Warrior. Now my feelings have not always been love for AWMAA, after my first class I swore I was NEVER going back it's great that hubby and kid like it but it is NOT for me. I actually had tears in my eyes after the first class. I went home calmed down and decided to give it another try (plus l had already committed to a year), so next class I go expecting to hate it again but I thought at least it's a work out. Well, by the end of that class I had made friends, worked out, learned a self defense move (that requires lots of practice to make a natural reaction) and was surprisingly happy. Now I'm about to be a green senior, and can't wait to earn my black belt (and beyond). To all the AWMAA staff, students and parents thanks for being AWESOME and welcoming us to your tribe.
My son started taking classes with Ancient Ways a few weeks ago, and we couldn't be more pleased with the experience thus far. The instructors and even the students, regardless of tenure, are supportive and caring, and seem to act as a unit to ensure that everyone grows and excels. We have felt very welcome there since the first trial class. The only downside thus far is that my son never wants to leave after class because he's so excited to keep training and practicing!
I have been going here for about 6 years now and it has been a delight. there have been some good times, and there have been some tough times, but through think and thin, I always have a great time. The staff are so friendly, and will always help you if you need it. The dojo is always very clean, and they make sure to do everything they can to make sure of your safety. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone who's interested, trust me, you'll have a great time.
It is an amazing place to train and to escape the real world. Staff is amazing, caring and ready and willing to help you become the best you.
I couldn’t speak any more highly of Ancient ways if someone asked me to. We are so impressed with the chill, easy and happy vibe of the entire place. Our son is 3 and is one of the most headstrong and independent little fellows and so far ( 3 months in) he has blossomed with talking, decision making and patience. It’s the small details that they finesse into the program that have really made a difference with Dylan. It’s not some gimmicky program either! They really do teach these wee warriors how to practice martial arts in a graceful and respectful manner. All the kids are always happy and it’s truly because of the teacher, Ms. Tanya. We adore her! She has the most calming voice and it’s accompanied by a cool German accent. ( I like that lol)... she is very wise and very good with the children. She never raises her voice but has a great way of keeping the children focused and attentive. My son asks about her daily and especially when faced with decision making at home “ Ms. Tanya would be proud mommy!”.. if you are ever looking into a program for your son or daughter, this is the one, I promise.
My Grandson has been going for a while. After watching him , I was impressed enough to start going to classes myself. They are encouraging and and create a great environment for learning and instilling confidence in their students.
I'm a woman over 50 thinking, what do I do now? My daughter is grown, work is good, home life is good, I should be happy...right? I wasn't. Something was missing, but didn't know what. I found their ad online and put in my information. I was called within 5 minutes! I asked questions, but was still on the fence. I figured, I'm not doing anything else and talked myself into checking it out.1st day, I almost chose not to go. I'm so overjoyed that I went. The entire staff and every student is very welcoming. The 1st class still had me wondering if this was for me. By the end of my 2nd class I felt that I had made the right decision. I just finished my 5th class tonight and I "know" I made the right decision. I now feel like I have a goal and am part of something bigger than me. If you're on the fence, feeling too old, uncoordinated, or any other of the million reasons we find to avoid something... take a chance. Try something new. You'll be amazed what it does for your life. Ancient Ways was a perfect choice for me.
My son is enrolled here. The staff is amazing and interested in there pupils. I love that they are open for the students to talk to. My once shy introverted son approached Master Boon and told him a story. It was awesome to observe from afar. Master Boon took the time to listen and then gave him a high five. For that, this place is worth every penny.
Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy Recommendation My family and I have been members of and training at AWMAA for over 4 years. The attention and kindness paid to every student at every stage of training is superb. The training is not limited to physical improvement and acquiring new skills, but also enlightenment. Watching my wife’s and my daughter's self esteem and confidence grow has been one of the greatest experiences for me training here. Come with an empty cup and fill it much as you like. I highly recommend Renshi Brown and Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy to all who read this but especially to my fellow parents. Richard Jennings
I started to pick up martial arts up again since I stopped. Since I started here I felt at hoem and peace this place I consider my family. Master Brown id amazing! If I ever had kids I would take them here.
My daughter has been attending Ancient Ways for 6 weeks. I have never seen her so excited or committed to anything like this before. I have also seen a huge change in her confidence in herself and her thinking about her actions. Master Brown and the staff there are AMAZING. I wish we would have started her sooner! Try it out! I was fortunate to have met Master Brown when I did. He was my self-defense instructor in college (early 90s). I trained under him at Sun Arts Fighting Academy! I am incredibly proud of that and I have protected my old t-shirt w/ passion! Master Brown guided me through a very difficult time in my life. He empowered me, as a female. He showed me that I had strength. I highly recommend that any fathers enroll their daughters in his classes. Train them now. Don't wait until it's too late. Master Brown is an amazing, patient, understanding Instructor. He has my utmost respect & unending gratitude. Thank you, Sir, for helping me reach my potential and helping me to realize my strength. After being away from Ancient Ways for over a year, Master Brown welcomed me back with open arms and no questions asked. I recommend Ancient Ways to anyone who is looking for a positive, welcoming environment to learn Martial Arts and life skills!
Always wanted to join a martial arts program, but never had the guts to do it on my own without knowing anyone, then was referred by a friend to Ancient Ways and I didn't hesitate, after being there for a few months the realization was I could have joined anytime and would have been totally comfortable even if I didn't know anyone! The environment at Ancient Ways is perfect for kids and adults, beginners or people who have some background in martial arts of any kind. The instructors as well as all the students really have made it the right kind of place, so that you know right away you have made a great decision and have taken the first most difficult step of walking through the door to become a part of a martial arts program that does so much more than you can realize, until you experience it!
Ancient ways has done wonders for Gabriel since he's been in karate for the last year-and-a-half. He has learned so much, he has a very positive attitude, he's always excited to go to class and learn new techniques and new forms and the coaching staff is very kind, courteous and knowledgeable.
Been looking for a long time for something my daughter can get into and become passionate about. We have finally found it in Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy. The Academy is family owned and operated and has the most friendly staff of any establishment I have ever been to period. On top of that they instil such amazing values into the people that go there that even the students are nice and friendly. This has been such a confidence booster for my little one. This is something she has to do on her own and work for. The sense of accomplishment she gets has helped her in many aspects and I couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend anyone with children to go in and speak to the staff and find out for yourself how amazing it is here.
After more than 3 decades I decided that I would join a martial arts program again. Master Brown as well as every black belt in this school has what seems like infinite patience for us beginners. I'm 53 now and after only 60 days I can honestly say I feel better already. This is a long road that I'm happy I started down with a bunch of great students besides. I have to say that I haven't had this much fun on a long time!
Love it here. My daughter comes home excited to continue preacticing what she has been learning. Master Brown and the other instructors are all very knowledgeable and provide a very stimulating and successful learning environment. I would reccommend this program to anyone interested im learning Martial Arts .
My son love his martial arts program. His instructors and classmates are wonderful. Martial arts help people to be more disciplined and focused. The location is great, the installations are good. The instructors and classmates will help you to accomplish your goals and overcome your obstacles.
I signed my kids (ages 4&12) looking to get them into something that would not only be fun but would provide them physical activity but also help grow mentally. We got so much more from the first day we walked in you get the feeling of family not only is the entire staff welcoming but the rest of the students. Everyday we go we not only help better our skills but are given mental tools to give my kids more self confidence, they want to work to get better everyday, and most importantly Everytime we walk out the door after class they are smiling from earlier to ear and can't stop talking about what they learned in class. Not only has it helped my kids I have also joined and am enjoying all of this growth with my family...a family that kicks togegether sticks together! With all of that being said I strongly recommend this school to anyone interested in getting themselves or kids into martial arts.
This place is AWESOME!!! The staff cares about what they are teaching, they care about the students they are teaching. From the first day I walked through the door I felt welcome, not by just the staff but by my fellow students.. Everyone is willing to help anyone... It is a great safe place to study martial arts.
I have had the pleasure of being on Master Browns floor learning techniques that I learned years ago and had forgotten. Unfortunately I have had some serious health issues of late (old guy) but in the last couple years have healed enough to start taking classes again. As a Ni Dan (2nd Degree Black Belt) I understand the need to learn more no matter if you are 3 years old or 90. It is a burning desire for a true warrior to better themselves in all they do including learning new techniques, kata and weapons. I have become friends with Master Brown and hold him in very high regard and respect him. I too have taught and done so for 40 years and as the old story goes I am still a student. Oos Sensei... "I am a Martial Artist" Author: Karen Eden "I am a martial artist." I see through different eyes. I see a bigger picture when others see grey skies. Though many can't conceive it, I stand...facing the wind. My bravery, not from fighting, but from my strength within. I am a martial artist. I'll walk the extra mile. Not because I have to, but because it's worth my while. I know that I am different, when I stand on a crowded street. I know the fullness of winning, I've tasted the cup of defeat. I am a martial artist. They say I walk with ease. Though trained for bodily harm, my intentions are for peace. The world may come and go, but a different path I'll choose. A path I will not stray from, no matter, win or lose.
I can’t say enough about the program at Ancient Ways. Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff and an outstanding martial arts program for all ages. The facility is welcoming, comfortable and clean for students, parents and spectators. I’d never studied any martial arts before and joined as an adult student. Master Brown, his staff and all the students have welcomed me in and been very supportive. I leave class each time having learned so much and look forward to each following class. You will learn much more than martial arts at Ancient Ways, you will learn valuable life lessons and skills. If you are curious about the program, they have a 4 week trial at an excellent price.
I simply cannot say enough good things about Ancient Ways Martial Arts Academy. A few years ago, I signed my young son up for lessons. After watching him from the sidelines for a year and seeing the vast improvements in self-control, self-respect, self-confidence, and respect for others (not to mention the physical improvments!), I signed up for lessons also. This has been the best shared experience that my son and I have together. It has done wonders for my well-being and mental health as well. The instructors truly care about their students and live by their code. Highly recommended!
My son attended here and was forcefully removed from the program after about a month. Waste of time and money. Unfortunately my son was looking forward to learning from the instructors here, but they did not have time or patience to deal/were not able to redirect him when he couldn't do something the first time. He was six; most things he will not get right on the first try. Additionally the instructing part of the classes was about a third of the day; the rest of the time I observed all of the students watching more mature dvd content than I would have liked (15+ content) and/or on their cell phones in the small front corner room. Was not worth the ungodly amounts of money in my opinion, and my son did not need to go to a shrink as they told me he would need to do or be addicted to drugs when he was a teenager. Sadly, i should have posted this three years ago but saw them recommended on my social media and decided to leave my review here of my experience.
My SN 8yr old was asked to leave and refunded our $ because he wasn’t participating after having discussed this before we signed up for the trail period. He has major anxiety and autism and we were assured he could take all the time he needed to get comfortable. He was literally standing on the sidelines next to me watching what the kids were doing. It was his 1st class and no one was directing him as to what he was supposed to be doing. I don’t recommend this place. The owner is a bully and instead of leading him to the floor to guide him he told me that this was his house and he should do what he’s told.
