Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing
When my son and I walked in to check out a class, we were warmly greeted by the owner and other patrons. They all talked with us as if they'd known us forever while letting us ask questions regarding classes, schedules and the like. We had arrived early so we were able to get a feel for how things operated. My son was immediately interested and we were told he could start right then if he wanted (which he did). After handling the paperwork (used loosely since like everything these days, it's digitally done), they got him sized for his Gi. I was asked my opinion on getting one that fit well but would likely be outgrown soon or if I wanted to go ahead and size up for him to grow into. I helped him get changed and then they showed him how to tie his belt and off he went. They have a sitting area with a camera/ TV set up so parents/ family can watch the classes going on. While I watched, I spoke with the other adults out there, some who were waiting for the adult class to begin and some who were waiting for their kids to be done. There was no awkward silence nor was there forced conversation. If I wanted to take pics or reply to my wife, I didn't feel as if I couldn't. If you're in the area and considering trying something new, Americus Martial Arts Academy is absolutely one that should be on your list to check out. They have multiple days and times so there is sure to be something to fit most schedules.

I had the pleasure of training no gi at this academy Nov of 2024. Great atmosphere and very kind people. This gym is the cleanest I’ve been too. They made me, a guest from out of town, feel included. Kudus to great coaching and team cohesiveness! Will be back soon!

Started coming here when in town for a few months. Had no prior martial arts experience and was nervous to start jiu jitsu as a young smaller woman. I had nothing to fear. People here have taken me under their wing and there really is a family atmosphere. People are genuinely happy to see each other, including me. Highly recommend!

One of the best Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing schools in the area. If you are near Americus and want a great experience, drop by and train.
