I can’t say enough good things about 10p Tigard. Sam Hardy was my fundamentals coach back in the Portland gym. He truly made it so fun to be in class. Amber has been one of my highly competitive training partners, and rolling with her has taught me so much. The coaches here are highly skilled and know how to break things down so you actually get it. Every class I walk away learning something new. The vibe is super welcoming, and the people here make training even more fun. Whether you’re brand new or have been rolling for years, you’ll feel right at home.

The people here are amazing. The classes are fun, fast paced, safe and informative. Sam is the kind of talented, intelligent and entertaining head coach you always hoped to find. He and his team have attracted a good mix of talented grapplers, dedicated hobbyists and families. The teaching is at the cutting edge of current jiu jitsu theory. Yet, there’s plenty of space for anyone who desires to learn and wants a community of good people who support each other. I started about a year ago at the age of 47 and I’m having a blast. Come check it out.

I’ve been training at 10th Planet Tigard for about 3 years now, and I can confidently say it’s an exceptional place to train Jiu-Jitsu! The atmosphere is welcoming, and the team is incredibly supportive, making it easy for anyone to jump in and feel at home, no matter your skill level. A huge shoutout to the head coach and owner, Sam Hardy. Sam’s expertise in Jiu-Jitsu is unmatched, and his passion for teaching is evident in every class. He has a unique ability to break down complex techniques in a way that’s both engaging and easy to understand. His approach to teaching, combined with his positive and motivating attitude, makes training under him an amazing experience. Whether you’re just starting or are a seasoned practitioner, 10th Planet Tigard offers top-notch instruction in a friendly, encouraging environment. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to take their Jiu-Jitsu to the next level!

I've been training at 10th Planet in Tigard for years, and I can't recommend it enough! The head instructors, Sam and his wife Amber, are absolutely fantastic. They create an inviting atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their skill level. Their teaching style is engaging and effective, making complex techniques easy to understand. The kids' classes led by Blake and Kadon are outstanding as well. They have a great way of connecting with the kids, making learning jiu jitsu fun and exciting. It's incredible to see how much the kids are improving under their guidance. Overall, 10th Planet Tigard is a top-notch place to train, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into jiu jitsu!

Live super duper close to here and thought I’d stop by and Check out this 10p gym. Loved the space and the mat! (Spacious and clean) The black belt here was super inviting and engaging. He made sure to take extra time with showing my friend and I the techniques we were struggling with.

Absolutely amazing culture Sam has created. My son is 13 rolling with adults. He’s brand new and every night a different adult mentors him and works with him 1:1 with incredible patience. I’d recommend this place to anyone!

I have been attending this gym consistently for over a year and the quality of instruction is phenomenal. The community is extraordinary and regardless of age, size, ability or learning pace everyone has an opportunity to thrive and become empowered by the magical martial art of Jiu Jitsu. Perfect balance of support and challenge.

Amazing instruction, great atmosphere, incredible rolls, and extremely welcoming team. One of the best gyms I've ever been to. Too bad I cant give more than 5 stars to set this gym apart from other gyms since they are that amazing. Went to Portland for work and found this 10p about a mile from my hotel. I was a walked in and spoke with the owner. Before I get into it, I've been training for about 9 years out of 10pSLC and been fortunate enough to experience lots of gyms around the US. I was able to train there and I was extremely pleased with so much. Some of the things I look at when I see a gym is the cleanliness, atmosphere and instruction. The gym was spotless, all the members were extremely welcoming and the instruction was top notch. Everything from the warm up to the drills flowed well together. The owner, whose name escapes me, is an amazing instructor with tons of knowledge, and it is evident that he is extremely invested in his students learning and success. If you get a chance to go to this school - do it!!!

Long story short: Good school, would recommend! Long story long: *I have only been once upon writing this, so this is a review from a first timer to this particular school.* *Disclaimer: it was recommended by a few friends of mine.* I walked in early to get situated. When he was available, the head instructor kindly came over, introduced himself, and got me set up with the waiver. Class began with a warmup that was not overbearing or overly formal. The class was well paced, allowing for plenty of time to drill. The half hour of rolls after class was a blast! The instructor joined in the rolls and I tried to sub him.... as the prophecy foretold I was shown what's what 😂 However, this was done in the sort of way that was good fun to participate in! It was a clear demonstration of the instructor's skills and, if it is business as usual, it reflects extremely well on this jujitsu school. I have two more observations: the facility was clean and set up well. Last, and certainly not least, the humans training at this school we're enjoying the game, working hard and were welcoming. I will be happy to train here again. Would recommend! Thanks for reading!

What can I say about 10P Tigard... Coach Sam is THE man. Sams attention to detail is top notch. I am a big fan of his coaching style. He is able to use examples that are relatable for everyone to better understand how to move properly, execute technique, and stay safe. He cares about his students and it shows. He will take the time to answer any questions you may have after class or just catch up and check in on you. The other coaches are great and each bring a different strength, coaching style, and expertise to the mat. I've met a lot of awesome guys and gals at this gym. I am glad that I found this gym and will forever be a student of the art at 10P Tigard!

I've been grappling for about 10 years and I've been to a lot of different schools. You would be hard pressed to find a better school anywhere in the United States for learning no-gi jiu jitsu. Sam and his crew provide a welcoming and highly educational environment that pushes practical techniques and solid fundamentals. Even after all my time on the mats I often find myself learning new stuff or improving on old standbys when hanging with these guys. What is truly impressive is that Sam is well spoken and knowledgeable enough to translate just about any grappling concept into a form that you can understand whether you've put 10 minutes or 1,000 hours on the mat. Hands down the best educator that I've ever met within the sport.

I've known Sam and Amber for years and they are incredible people. Not only are they great human beings, but they are also very accomplished and successful competitors. There is no doubt in my mind that bringing your family here for martial arts is going to be a life changing decision.

While in Tigard I visited 10th Planet jiu jitsu Tigard. It was such a positive experience overall. The school is pristine clean, students very welcoming and friendly. Professor Sam is one of the most technical instructors I ever met, with sound technical details nicely linked from a standing approach to ground submission. If you ever pass through Tigard or want to start your journey in jiujitsu you should check It out. You will love it.

Dropped in and had my first official 10th planet class as a purple belt from a more traditional gi and nogi background. I could not have asked for a better class with better training. Sam is a detail oriented, funny and concise instructor. He has built up a space of amazing students who made me feel like we were friends the moment we walked in the door. Anyone looking to train BJJ should get in on this action asap!

Amazing place for BJJ! Super clean and nice facility with a great location in SW Portland. Head coach Sam Hardy is extremely knowledgeable and fun to work with, he treats every student with the same respect and care whether it’s their first day or they’re several years into the sport. Highly recommend 10th Planet Tigard if you want to do No-Gi Jiu Jitsu at the highest level!

Not suited to kids of different abilities and weights. the pool of kids is too small and communication from the coaches was lacking. They also tried to push private lessons for my kid because of concentration problems. He has ADHD and is not training for the Olympics. This was just meant to be a fun activity done with a friend after school. That family had issues with inconsistent and poor communication too. Can't recommend for kids.
