Sacramento is one of the busiest BJJ tournament cities in Northern California. Grappling Industries Sacramento is the most frequent event, and Grappling X runs several shows here, including the Nor Cal Jiu Jitsu Championships and the California State Nor-Cal Championships.
Tap Cancer Out brings its Sacramento BJJ Open to the city, United Grappling returns several times a year, and the Sacramento Submission Only Series caters to sub-only competitors. Events also run in nearby Citrus Heights, Lincoln and Elk Grove.
October is the busiest month, followed by November, March, February and August. Gi divisions are slightly more common than No-Gi, kids divisions appear at close to four in ten events, and around a quarter include an absolute division. Submission-only, house and IBJJF rules are all used, and entry typically costs around $21–$99.
