Lake Oswego and nearby Portland form a busy BJJ competition hub for Oregon, with events also held in Tualatin. Both national circuits and local organizers run tournaments in the area through the year.
Grappling Industries Portland is the most regular event, and the World Series of Jiu-Jitsu holds several Portland championships, including a No-Gi event. Other competitions include the Grappling X Oregon State Jiu Jitsu Championships, Roll A Lot, the Submission Hunter Challenge and the Oregon Open Jiu Jitsu Championship.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered in roughly equal measure, and over half of events include an absolute division. Around three in ten events have kids divisions. Some events use IBJJF rules, and round-robin brackets also appear. October, July and March are the busiest months, followed by May.
