Jacksonville has one of the busier BJJ competition calendars in Florida, with nearly all events held in the city and a few in nearby Orange Park and Saint Augustine. National and regional circuits both visit regularly.
NEWBREED is the most active organizer, running the Jacksonville Fall Championship, New Year Open and Summer Championship. FUJI BJJ holds a Jacksonville Winter Championship, and other recurring events include the Tap Cancer Out Jacksonville BJJ Open, the NAGA Jacksonville Grappling Championship and the CUTS Absolute Fundraising Tournament. Chickjitsu has run women's events in Orange Park.
Around half of events offer Gi and No-Gi divisions, and over a third include an absolute division. Roughly a quarter have kids divisions. Entry fees vary widely by event, with a typical minimum entry of around $53. Fall is peak season, with November and October the busiest months.
