Columbus has a busy BJJ competition calendar, led by Grappling Industries Columbus, which returns several times a year. Grappling Industries also runs grappling at the Arnold Classic. Most events are held in Columbus, with some in nearby Dublin.
Other recurring competitions include the AGF Columbus Open and Championships, the Tap Cancer Out Columbus BJJ Open, United Grappling and NEWBREED Columbus championships. FUJI BJJ has also organized events in the city.
Most events offer both Gi and No-Gi divisions, and around half include kids divisions. Just over two in five run an absolute division. Round-robin brackets are common. Entry is typically around $30–$97. March, September and December are the busiest months, followed by June and October.
