Buffalo has a regular BJJ competition calendar led by Grappling Industries Buffalo, which returns several times a year and makes up most of the events in the city.
The American Grappling Federation also runs the AGF Buffalo Open and AGF Buffalo Championships, and NAGA and United Grappling have both held events in Buffalo.
Most events offer both Gi and No-Gi divisions, and well over half include kids divisions. Just under half run an absolute division. Round-robin brackets under house rules are common. Entry is typically around $30–$90. October is the busiest month, followed by February, May, November and July.
