Belfast has a well-established competition scene and is the main tournament hub for Northern Ireland. Events draw competitors from both sides of the border, and the city's calendar is busiest in July and October.
The Belfast Jiu Jitsu League is the most frequent event, running regular rounds that give competitors plenty of matches through the year. Solid Ground runs the All Ireland Youth Championships for kids, teens and juveniles in both Gi and No-Gi, and Grappling Industries brings its round-robin format to Belfast several times a year.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered in roughly equal numbers. Adult entry fees are typically £20–£40.
