Atlanta is one of the busiest BJJ tournament cities in the Southeast, with most events in the city and a few in nearby Smyrna and Chamblee.
NFC Fighting is among the most active local organizers, running themed grappling events such as Brew Jitsu and Boo Jitsu. National organizers are well represented too, with the NAGA Atlanta Grappling Championship, the Newbreed Atlanta New Year Open, the Tap Cancer Out Atlanta BJJ Open and United Grappling Atlanta. The ADCC US Open has also been held in Atlanta, as has the Black ICE Open.
No-Gi divisions are slightly more common than Gi, and over a third of events include an absolute division. Around a quarter run kids divisions. Adult entry is typically around $19–$194. October is the busiest month, followed by January, April and August.
