INTRODUCING THE GAUNTLET

The National Gauntlet Federation (NGF) is creating a brand-new American team grappling sport that combines submissions, strategy, player substitutions, and team competition. Athletes compete together toward a shared victory in a format designed to bring a new level of excitement to grappling.

Our ambition is bigger than hosting tournaments. We want to build a sport with recognizable teams, rivalries, seasons, hometown pride, and an entertaining experience families can enjoy together.

We're starting by putting the game to the test — and we want you to be part of it.

GET PAID TO TEST OUR GAME!

We're recruiting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, wrestlers, and submission grapplers to participate in our upcoming Gauntlet test event.

Pay a $25 deposit to reserve your spot and receive $50 at the event when you participate.

  • Registration deposit: $25
  • Payment at the event: $50 for participating competitors
  • Net earnings: $25
  • Maximum participants: 20 competitors
  • Teams: Four teams of five competitors

Your participation will help us test the rules, evaluate the format, and build the foundation of a new sport.

Please commit before registering. If you withdraw or fail to attend, your $25 deposit will not be refunded.

WHAT WE'LL DO ON THE DAY

This isn't just a tournament — it's your chance to help us test and develop a new sport!

  1. Come Together: Meet the other grapplers and get introduced to the NGF community.
  2. Pick Team Captains: Select captains who will lead their teams.
  3. Go Over the Rules: Review how The Gauntlet works, including scoring, substitutions, and submission challenges.
  4. Choose the Game of The Gauntlet: Decide on the game format we'll test during the event.
  5. Run The Gauntlet: Put the rules to the test in team-based grappling competition.
  6. Share Feedback: Help us identify what works, what needs improvement, and how we can make the sport better.

Our goal is to bring grapplers together, test the game, and take another step toward building a new American team sport.

HOW THE GAUNTLET WORKS

The Gauntlet brings the strategy of team sports to the world of grappling.

  • Four Teams: Five competitors per team.
  • Team Strategy: Work together to defeat the opposing team.
  • Player Substitutions: Rotate athletes as the match unfolds.
  • Submission-Focused Competition: Score through submissions and strategic challenges.
  • A New Kind of Spectator Sport: Help us develop a format that fans can follow, teams can rally around, and families can enjoy.

OUR VISION: A SPORT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

We want The Gauntlet to become an entertaining, family-friendly American sports experience rooted in community, patriotism, and faith in God.

Imagine the atmosphere of a baseball game — hometown teams, passionate fans, team rivalries, traditions, and families gathering to cheer on their athletes.

Now imagine that spirit built around grappling.

We want children to grow up cheering for their hometown Gauntlet teams, parents to share the excitement with their families, and athletes to represent something bigger than themselves.

Our goal is to turn grappling into a team sport people don't just practice, but also watch, follow, and support as fans.

We're building this from the ground up, and every test event brings us one step closer.
