2027 Philippine Novice Championships

1. Event Overview

The 2027 Philippine Gi & No-Gi Novice Championships are designed specifically for White Belt students who are new to the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).

This event provides novice competitors with an excellent opportunity to test their skills in a supportive and beginner-focused environment, while gaining valuable competition experience.

This championship has a long-standing tradition and has served as a stepping stone for many top competitors throughout the years.

2. Eligibility

• Open exclusively to White Belt competitors
• Not eligible to compete: Gold medalists from previous BJJFP events Judo Black Belts Amateur or Professional MMA fighters
• Gold medalists from previous BJJFP events
• Judo Black Belts
• Amateur or Professional MMA fighters
• Competitors who have won a medal in Gi but not in No-Gi may still compete in No-Gi
• Competitors who won by walkover (no opponent) may compete again

3. Rules

• All matches will follow IBJJF Rules
• Exception: Straight footlocks are not permitted
• IBJJF rules apply to Gi, No-Gi, attire, and match conduct

4. Date, Venue,  Schedule: Saturday January 30, 11.00am 

• Date: January 30, 2027
• Start Time: 11:00 AM 
• Divisions: All Gi and No-Gi Matches

• Venue: Ayala Circuit Makati – Activity Center

Arrival Requirement: All competitors must arrive at the venue at least two (2) hours before their scheduled match time.

5. Registration & Payment Information

Important: Registrations are not processed or approved until payment is received.

6. Registration Fees

Early Bird (Before January 3 )

• Fee: P1,995
• Deduction for Gi & No-Gi: P1,000
• Absolute Division: P60024

Normal Registration ( Jan 4 - Jan 24 )

• Fee: P2,200
• Deduction for Gi & No-Gi: P800
• Absolute Division: P600

Late Registration (Jan  24  – Jan 27  )

• Fee: P2,500
• Deduction for Gi & No-Gi: P700
• Absolute Division: P700

8. Smoothcomp Registration & Editing

• All competitors must create their own Smoothcomp account using their personal email address
• This includes team entries and bank deposit payments
• From the Smoothcomp account, competitors can: View brackets Check match schedules Edit or update registration details

Corrections

• Self-editing is allowed until Wednesday before the event
• Changes can be made directly in the Smoothcomp registration profile

9. Brackets & Mat Schedule

• Initial brackets and mat schedule: Released Tuesday before the event
• Updates may follow as registrations are finalized
• Final schedule: Available by Wednesday prior to competition day

10. Competitor Information

Identification

• Masters, Juniors, and Children competitors must bring a valid ID with date of birth

Attire

• Gi: White, Black, or Navy Blue only
• No-Gi: Rash guards must be at least 10% white IBJJF standards apply
• Rash guards must be at least 10% white
• IBJJF standards apply

Weigh-Ins

• Weigh-ins for Gi and/or No-Gi will be conducted before the competitor’s first match

11. Results & Awards

• Official results will be posted at: www.bjjfp.com
• Single-entry competitors may collect their medals any time during the competition day
