2026 USJA Kosen Nationals (Tournament and Seminars)

Description

Welcome to the 2026 USJA Kosen National Championship.  The Kosen ruleset is unique and designed to provide an even playing field for Judoka, BJJers, Wrestlers, Sambo fighters etc. to compete together.  The Rules can be found at: New Proposed Kosen Judo Rules.pdf and to view an introductory video on the Ruleset, please go here:  Introduction to USJA Kosen Rules.  Basically single legs/double legs etc. are allowed, guard pulling is allowed, and submissions including chokes, shoulder locks and elbow locks are allowed.  You score by taking someone down with control, pinning them, or submitting them.

This year, the Kosen Nationals will consist of:

A seminar on Friday, November 13th, 2026 from 6:30-8:30  (including open mat) by 4th degree Judo black belt and 1st degree BJJ black belt Jordan Stone

A referee seminar by National Referee John Paccione on Saturday, November 14th from 10- noon (with certification available)

A featured Kosen Judo seminar on Saturday November 14th, 2026 from 2-3 pm (kids) and 3:30-5:30 pm (adults) by All-Japan Judo Champion Shinjiro Sasaki

A public meeting of the USJA Board of Directors on Saturday, November 14th, 2026 from 6-7 pm.

The Kosen Nationals tournament (kids and adults) on Sunday November 15th, 2026 beginning at 11 am. 

No organizational membership is required for this year's event, although 20% of profits will be donated to the United States Judo Association.  

Cost:

Adult seminars & tournament:  $80

Kids seminar & tournament:  $50

Registering for the tournament here includes registration for the seminars!

For the tournament, Senior men's, women's and master's divisions will be single elimination.  An additional open weight men's, women's, and master's division is available for free.  Kids and teens divisions will be double elimination.  All competitors must wear a white BJJ or Judo gi.

Registrations close on 11/5/26.  There will be NO exceptions.  Registration changes can be made until 11/6/26.  Brackets and start times will be available by late 11/8/26.
