Super neat MMA gym in downtown redwood city. They also offer muay thai, wrestling, and combat sambo. The coach is a great guy. Classes have people that range in skill levels. Would recommend for anyone that wants to learn and improve themselves.

I was looking for a Muay Thai and MMA gym in Redwood City and I’m so glad I found Spartan Combat Sports. Unlike other spots that focus more on the cardio aspect, Coach David is a Combat Sambo World Champion who focuses on real technique and proper form. Every class, he takes the time to give you solid advice that will make you a better fighter on a combo that he gives us. Even as a beginner, I felt totally welcomed and supported. I've only been going for a month, and I've received so much advice already about my Muay Thai stance, Muay Thai defense, MMA take downs, pure wrestling takes downs, and more. Something really is cool is that Coach David has trained alongside legends like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, and Daniel Cormier. So you already you are learning an elite level of MMA from Coach. The environment at this gym is also great. Coach David takes pride in keeping the gym super clean. This gym is a gold mine for those who want to actually learn.

I came in with some boxing experience and wanted to properly learn Muay Thai and eventually MMA/grappling. Found this gym on Google mainly because of the location in Redwood City, but it ended up being exactly what I was looking for! With dedicated Muay Thai sessions as well as MMA sessions. The gym is very clean, the vibes are great, and the coach is incredibly knowledgeable about MMA. It’s beginner-friendly, but the coaching is highly technical, this is a place you come to actually get better, not just sweat through a workout. There’s a good mix of experience levels, and the environment is focused, respectful, and welcoming. Honestly, this gym deserves way more attention than it gets. If you’re serious about learning Muay Thai or MMA the right way, this is the place brotha.

Upon first sight, you can tell that this gym has the atmosphere that drives you to want to be the best. Coach David is amazing at explaining techniques, demonstrating, as well as observing to make sure your technique is correct. Also, the environment is very safe and beginner friendly, and well adept to any level of Wrestling, Freestyle Wrestling, Kickboxing/ Muay Thai, Jiu-jitsu and Combat Sambo. The facility is always in great shape and very clean. There is brand new equipment and space to sit and watch training. To me these qualities are very important in learning Martial Arts. Great gym. Highly recommend!!

I've been training with Coach David for the last three years, first at AKA and now at his beautiful new gym. Coach David is hardworking, principled, and brings over 20 years of experience at the highest levels of MMA. He genuinely cares about his students, and regularly brings more energy than I do to our training sessions 😄 Coach David will actually teach you how to fight, while giving you a great workout. I've lost 20 lbs so far!
