Started taking my 5 year old daughter to the gym and right away saw the potential in her. One month in and she started to compete. She has Won 1st place in multiple organizations like AGF, Battleground and Fuji competitions. She is now 6 and is a grey belt being able to compete now in IBJJF. Taking second in Austin open and 3 in PAN which is a huge accomplishment being this was her first year in jiu-jitsu. Now my 3 year old daughter, me and my husband also joined. We love what it has done for our family. Great family friendly environment.

Coach Bruno and Petya run a wonderful, encouraging and supportive establishment and they have a standard curriculum for each belt level. They, along with their other great and decorated instructors, will push and help you reach any goal you are willing to work towards. Multiple levels of training, a great and proven kid's program and chances to travel around the country & world to compete in high level competitions. I travel for work and visit BJJ gyms in the towns I’m working around. Bastos is the best gym I’ve visited, never have I felt more welcomed. All the coaches are high level and better than you’ll find anywhere else. The lesson they give is broke down and made easy to learn, they make sure you understand before advancing. I highly recommend visiting this gym if you’re anywhere close to it.

Bruno and Petya Bastos are one of the greatest coaches in the area hands down. Started a year ago with just a trial and ended up staying and competing. Something I never thought I do. That is the confidence true coaches give to their students. Their commitment to teaching is done with passion and years of knowledge and personal training. When I go into class to train, I know I will come out with a better understanding and confidence in a sport that I’m loving. If you are in the area and looking, I highly recommend Bastos BJJ.

I have watched my husband train with Bruno since 2015. In the 5 1/2 years Dusty has won 3 World Championships, Pan Am champion, and a bronze at Worlds. I recently began to train, and I have trained in the women's program predominantly but I will go to a fundamentals class on occasion. Have learned alot from both. All of the coaches are skilled competitors and champions, and they take the time needed to ensure those who train understand the How's, the what ifs', and the why's in jiu jitsu.

Amazing and clean facilities! It’s a great feeling to get to learn from friendly coaches who are all also World Champions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The atmosphere is also very friendly. I joined, not only to learn BJJ, but also lose weight. I was worried that my age(mid 40s)weight, and current fitness level would make it too difficult if I didn’t get into better shape before joining. All the coaches convinced me that nothing will prepare me for Jiu-Jitsu better than Jiu-Jitsu, and they were 100% correct. I am glad I took the plunge. My weight has been dropping and my fitness level has gone way up. It’s also an amazing stress reliever as well. If you are on the fence, give the free trial a shot. You will be hooked in no time.

These people are legit. 100% all in for every child, teen and adult. Just go and watch. You’ll see it for yourself. Every sensi is so intentional. Especially with the younger kids. Nothing but gentle and understanding reassurance. You can tell it’s a lot more than just about the moves. This is character building, confidence building and follow through. They want these kids to value jujitsu and the people they are working with whether that’s class mates or instructors. I’m very thank for them and we have only been there a month!! My son had a bad day today. He finally decided to participate the last 8 min of class and Sensi Bruno got a lot out of him- amazing feat! Prior to that 3 instructors spend time with him, talked to him, reassured him AND held him accountable without forcing him to do anything. He participated at his own free will. WHAT A FEAT FOR THAT PARTICULAR KID- I’m telling ya! He left today feeling accomplished and excited to go tomorrow. #saints Thank You guys. You made this mama’s day today 🙌🏻

I live in DFW and was visiting Midland for the weekend for an event, so I was looking for a place to train. Most of the adult regulars were down in San Antonio for NoGi Worlds, but nevertheless I was warmly welcomed by the owner's wife (a black belt). The gym itself is beautiful. 2 large mats, and a workout area. She was there at 5:30am and gave me a schedule since attendance was going to be light due to the tournament. The class she taught (adult intermediate) was excellent. She taught knee-drop seoi-nage into a mount transition with finish. Class started with a thorough warm up, well explained technique breakdown, followed by purposeful drilling. There's an air of professionalism here that is not common. If you're just looking for some rolls, this may not be the place for you, but if you're interested in learning solid technique (including standing/judo), give them a visit! Thanks again for having me. Oss!

What a great place for the family. I started my kids with Professor Bruno and Sensei Petya Bastos several years ago and my wife and I slowly joined in on the fun. My kids have excelled in the sport of jiu-jitsu under their instruction and have won multiple titles. My wife also trains under them and has been involved in their fitness program. As for myself, I've competed under their tutelage. Being prior military with several ailments due to my service, competing alone was a success for me. As professional instructors Professor Bruno and Sensei Petya have been able to maximize my abilities with the injuries I've sustained during my time in the service. If your goal is to compete or just to live a healthier lifestyle I strongly recommend Bastos Brazillian Jiu-jitsu and Fitness.

Signed up my son when he was 5 and has been training with Coaches Bruno and Petya for over a year. He LOVES it! He loves the coaches, the learning environment and camaraderie with the other students. I have seen him grown stronger and more confident in his abilities to protect himself. As a parent I love the teaching environment and that you are expected to practice hard to earn your stripes and belts. At his first competition he was so proud of himself for earning a medal. I was proud that he stepped outside of his comfort zone and tried. It took him a year of practice, with continuous encouragement from Bruno and Petya, before he built up the courage to enter a competition. I can't wait to see his continued growth at Bastos Brazilian Jui-Jitsu!

I started jiu-jitsu because I was unhappy with my life, so I thought to myself: "what can I do to improve my life as it is?" I was overweight and hated to look in the mirror, I had no goals and no friends. I wanted to be part of something. As soon as I walked into this gym I knew this would be my home. 4 years later and I've found everything I came looking for in jiu-jitsu. I'm fit, I can protect myself, I have goals and a purpose in life, I'm surrounded by teammates that I consider to be family. I can look in the mirror and smile knowing that I'm beautiful on the inside and outside because of what jiu-jitsu has given me. I hope many others can walk into Bastos Bjj and have the same experiences I have had, it's an amazing ride for sure.

There is no words to describe how grateful I’am to have met Bruno at the time in my life I did. He’s completely changed my life through ju jitsu but most of all for the person he’s made me want to become. I’ve been training under him for 3 years and my life has greatly improved for the better in all aspects of life. Ju jitsu has kept me healthy, Bruno has kept my mind in the right direction which is something I struggled with for years. I’ve managed to win multiple tournaments including an American nationals no gi title. I recommend anyone to train under him and his wife Petya who is also a great genuine person. I have 4 kids (9, 7, 5, 3 yrs old) my 7 year old has been training with coach Bruno and Coach Petya for two years and from day one she told me that she loves her coaches. My 9 and 5 started a year ago and I can say that BJJ and coaches have helped my 9 year old with his confidence tremendously. My 5 year old is a handful at home but on the mats is an angel because he knows their discipline is not one to play with. My 3 year old started a few weeks ago and is super excited to get on the mats and train with coach Petya ( never did I think I was going to get him to participate in anything but will detach from me to spend time with his coach) As a mom I can tell you that they are the most loving people and care about each and every kid that steps on their mats. Definitely glad that we picked Bastos BJJ from day one! A very nice family orientated gym with two amazing people running it that I can definitely say I truly trust my kids with.

We started our son with Bruno Bastos and Petya Bastos because he was being bullied in school and he didn’t know how to defend himself. My husband researched and found Bruno. Bruno and Petya are amazing coaches and mentors. They love our kids like their own. They’ve improved my sons self esteem, confidence and health and discipline. They are great mentors and encourage my son to follow his dreams and to work hard and to give his best in every thing he does.

If I could give a negative star I would. They don’t care about the students only making money.
