Been coming here since the end of October 2024 and it has helped me dramatically physically and mentally! I look forward to coming to class and the core people there are incredible and encouraging. Also if you follow there social media you will see the professional edits and post are informative, inspiring and over all make me want to grow as a man both in and out the class room. Highly recommend!
I stopped in on a work trip last night... Professor Brad and his team were very welcoming! The instruction is great, and the training partners were all good folks! Highly recommend Midland BJJ and I will be back for additional drop-in sessions.
The gym and atmosphere is excellent. I've been training off and on and off again since 2012 and have made brothers and sisters in each gym I've been a part of (shout outs to Zanshin South and Caveirinha). Coming home after a 21 year career in the Air Force, I wanted to find a new BJJ home. Midland BJJ did not disappoint and the classes, coaching, teammates... all are 5 star.
But what really is five star is this... the care. Life happened. Personal stuff spiraled and, not afraid to say it, I stayed for a bit in a hospital to get my mind right. Coming back home, life was unreal... it wasn't what it was and I needed to get right. I stopped training... I stopped a lot of things to bring focus to what I needed to focus on. And throughout this whole time, Brad and the team brought some care my way. This short message means alot. Other Text messages, conversations and understanding from Brad and teammates means a lot and speaks miles on the atmosphere here at Midland BJJ. I didn't think I would be accepted back but I was and am happy to get my experienced/inexperienced self back on the mats. BJJ is always family and here in West Texas, this is where you'll find it. Thank you, Midland BJJ 🤙
Come here for the learning, the rolls, the training... all that. You'll stay for the care and the family atmosphere.
I was born and raised in Midland but now live in the Houston area. My son (9) and myself (36) love that we have the opportunity to drop in and train here when we visit our hometown. They are always super welcoming and the instructors a great. A huge thank you to Brad for always opening his doors to us!
I had the honor of training here while visiting family. I’m a 2nd degree black belt under Jacare at Alliance HQ.
The gym was kind enough to let me borrow a gi and a belt. I went to the open mat and spent an hour and a half training. Everyone was very kind, friendly and super tough. I had a ton of very tough rolls. The people here are very tough and I highly recommend this gym!
I’ve stopped in several times as a traveler. I’ve always had a great time training at MidlandBJJ and have always left with tremendous amounts of knowledge and a new toy in the toolbox. Another really cool thing about Brad and MidlandBJJ is that if I have a issue on anything or need help understanding something in the Jiu Jitsu, self defense, and/or personal protection he has always given or gotten back to me with great answers. If you’re in the Midland area or get a chance to catch a seminar with him then definitely check him out.
Gym full of experience and humble people. This gym is where you want to train. They use wrestling and mma style grappling techniques. Drop in and give it a chance you won’t regret it.
Wonderful wealth of knowledge with numerous lively and good hearted people. Highly recommend training here if you are looking to start your martial arts journey, continue on your path, or just want to attend a class in town. Get in on these mats and enjoy yourself!
6 months ago I received my blue belt and last night I received my first strip as a blue belt. I couldn’t say enough good things about Brad and the team of experienced coaches. The culture here is welcoming and open for anyone and everyone to join, learn and grow. Thank you Midland BJJ for keeping me accountable and healthy!
I attended a free Women's Self-Defense workshop, and a few other classes after that - it was the best decision I made! Brad, the other coaches, and all of the members are extremely welcoming, and make you feel comfortable being in a new environment and learning new things. Ladies, if you can do one thing in 2024 attend the Women's Self-Defense workshop, you won't regret it! My goal for 2024 is to become a member and be a part of this amazing gym and inspire others to do the same!
Midland BJJ is a great place to train! The staff of coaches are extremely knowledgeable and experienced. Always a welcoming and friendly training environment. Also, Midland BJJ offers multiple sessions most days as well as training in other disciplines (MMA, wrestling, DT/combatives) not to mention specific technical seminars and guest instructors on a regular basis.
Been coming here since Nov. 2022 and love it. Started training here with my youngest son (13), and now my other son (16) has started training here as well. Brad and everyone here has made myself and my boys feel welcomed. My 16 year old was very skeptical about training but after two sessions has changed his tune and his work schedule to continue training. I cannot say enough positive things about this place!
Great place, great coaches and amazing people came there a kid from Chicago helped developed me from a lost teenager to a man. They go out there way to help their students, this gym has gotten me #2 Southwest in the USA and has given me opportunities and connections I couldn’t be more thankful for til this day! I’ve since moved to ABQ and and now a Professional MMA Fighter and a Purple belt jiu jitsu competitor! Thank you Professor Brad!!!

Awesome place to train. Great environment and amazing coaches. Highly recommend training here if you’re in the area!
It's been a long year and this was one of the few places I felt welcomed and safe. For the first time in my in life I am comfortable with the way my body looks and feels. I had been visiting MidlandBJJ for some people and every visit I would hear "when are we getting you on the mat?" I would always say never until one day I was tired of feeling like I had no say in what happens to me and the direction my life was going. I joined and suddenly I have new friends, brothers, sisters, mother and father figures and a safe place to go. Definitely one of my favorite places to be.
My kids and I have been training at Midland BJJ for almost 2 months now. We have enjoyed it so much! The kids are learning so much, as am I in the adult classes. BJJ is not something I ever saw myself doing, but when I became interested in the women's self defense class Brad urged me to train. Self defense is something I should continually work on, he explained. You don't learn how to defend yourself by going to a 3 hour class, and boy is he right!
I am so happy I choose to do the hard thing and walk through those doors twice a week.
I know I won't regret it.
The coaches at Midland BJJ are amazing, the atmosphere is that of a family. One we're grateful to be apart of now.
You won't regret choosing Midland BJJ for you or your family!
Great gym and coaches! Has been such an integral component for my husband’s mental and physical health. If you are in law enforcement also, I highly encourage adding this to your training regimen; and If you’ve ever thought about trying jiu jitsu out period…give them a try! Great kiddos class as well!
I found Midland Bjj when they offered a free women's self defence seminar! I didn't even know Midland offered things like that. When I saw the chance I took it and went. It got me to want to try BJJ. I was so nervous being a girl! But everyone at this gym is so respectful and welcoming and helpful my fears shortly went away. Brad and everyone at Midland BJJ are some of the best people out there. Highly recommend this gym for everyone. Women, men, kids. It's a family oriented gym great for the whole family.
Wonderful place to train and surround yourself with people looking to better themselves. A great atmosphere and place to grow your BJJ! Great instructors and personal interaction with the students.

A fantastic place for women in west Texas to train!
One of the most professional gyms I’ve been to. Great environment and great coaches!!! I would highly recommend this gym to first timers or someone looking to find something in the body or mind. Great people, definitely a 5 star place.
We’re new in town. My family and I took a while to research for the best BJJ, this place is the real deal. Head coach, trainers, staff and the people are amazing. Though we’re having time constraints to come train regularly but to us, if you’re looking for authentic BJJ that focuses on real training, this is the place to go.
I have been training Jiu Jitsu for the past 3 years and have only good things to say about Brad and the community that he has built. Every time I am in there everyone has a smile on. I’m proud to call everyone at Midland BJJ my family.
This place is amazing and very welcoming. Everyone is so friendly! If youre interested in BJJ or want to try something new, you should definitely come here! Best place in town!

Great gym culture that's a positive place for kids to learn. All the coaches are awesome and you can tell they truly love the sport they teach.
I was visiting town for a couple weeks for the holidays and Midland BJJ was SO kind and welcoming! They allowed me to train with them for a small drop-in fee. I am fairly new to BJJ and everyone from instructors to other students were very helpful and took time to help me individually. An incredible community and place to grow!
I have trained at Midland BJJ just shy of a year now. Since day one I have been made to feel like part of family, which was important to me moving here from out of state. Here you will receive World class instruction and guidance from all of the professors. Whatever training goals someone may have (self defense, fitness/sport, camaraderie, hobby etc..) there’s something for everyone to gain. Highly recommend to everyone, check this place out!
Brad and the members of his gym were welcoming and supportive of me when i gave BJJ a try for the first time. It can be very intimidating, but I was made to feel like a part of the team right away. Also, I can tell you that even though I’m inexperienced, Brad runs the place the in the right way. You won’t be disappointed!
Both my kids (now adults) trained there. My daughter started in 2015 as a white belt at midland bjj and she is still there 9 years later, now a black belt and runs the children's program. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the staff is friendly. It's is clean and you can always go there to find quality instruction in all classes to fit any level of bjj. I would definitely recommend it hands down. Good quality folks!

This is a great place for any level!
You will laugh, get humbled, humble someone, make new friends, learn new skills, and feel that you are a part of something great! Plus if you come to ranking day you will be amazed!
Thank you!
I had a great experience at Midland BJJ. Brad and his team are very welcoming and treated me like family. This place offers multiple class sessions throughout the day. I’m a morning person, so the 6am session was perfect for me. Overall, I have gained confidence, not only for jiu jitsu, but also for self defense off the mats.
I highly recommend Midland BJJ for anyone, even if you have zero grappling experience, this is your sign to try out a few classes. I promise you will leave with more knowledge than what you had before entering through the doors.
The owner took time out of his schedule to fly to Wisconsin to teach cops some Police Jiu Jitsu in April, 2023. I learned a lot from Brad in just 4 days; things that will save lives. Thanks Brad for investing your knowledge and skills! Brad trains in a way that is safe and works to avoid injuries or even with an existing or old injury. Thanks Brad!
Professor Brad Barnes is the man. Really makes you feel welcomed and cared for. Great attention to detail and inspiring man to be around. Top notch BJJ training as well as LEO Training as well. If you are looking for a BJJ academy, check out Midland BJJ
The besst they help you no Matter what with anything and if you do something wrong they show you how to do it right. And they are super funny in the photo you can see a girl which is me and the three coaches up on the top maddy is the one in the middle the main one the other 2 are assistants but they are really nice and funny also no favorites they pay attention to everybody equally
I’ve known Brad for 15 years. He mentored me through my fight career and had always been a constant support in my career. We recently had him out to Frisco for a seminar, everyone loved it.
Brad has so much experience coaching and teaching both law enforcement and civilians, I would recommend that anyone close to Midland BJJ definitely take advantage of the opportunity to train with him.

Absolutely fantastic place. The owner is wonderful and keeps the place immaculately clean. He and everyone working there were incredibly inclusive to a beginner and when I could no longer continue for medical reasons the owner went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of in regards to cancellation and billing. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

Very dynamic bjj gym with a broad vision for applying bjj to competition, mma, and real world scenarios. Great coaching and environment.
Midland BJJ isn't just a place to go and train Ju-Jitsu it's a home! From the beginning, Professor Brad has been very easy to learn from. He teaches everything in building blocks, so even if you have no experience you can jump in and start learning. Great coaches and an awesome atmosphere, do yourself a favor and check them out 😌

Can’t thank this place enough, not only has it got me in shape physically but it also has mentally. People always talk about life hacks, this is the perfect one it turned me into who I am today. It took me off a path of bad life choices. I can’t thank brad and the other coaches enough for all that they do for their students.
It took me probably about a month thinking about trying something different. I used to go to a boxing gym and really wasn't 100% sure if I was ready to try jiu-jitsu. I was comfortable in boxing. By no means I am good at boxing lol, but I knew the routine and I was no longer at the bottom of the food chain. So finally one day, I decided to try it out. I was ready to learn and be in unfamiliar territories. It was the best decision. The environment is great. Brad and his upper belts really take the time to make you feel at home. Anyone looking for a new challenge, I strongly recommend Midland BJJ. Get outside your comfort zone. Not only can you learn and have fun while practicing Jiu-Jitsu, but be a part of this great community.
The community at Midland BJJ is absolutely amazing. As a socially awkward individual I can say that I have finally found a place that I feel accepted in. The different people and experiences really shape the gym and it’s environment. Competitors, hobbiest, vacationers, and beginners all of these people are welcome with open arms. The training is also stellar, from BJJ, MMA, Wrestling, and even weapon based combatives this place has it all. Would 1000% recommend anyone and everyone to train here
I am a 40 y/o office professional and live in Midland but I train at another BJJ gym. I attended a open mat / social event in Midland that was hosted by midland BJJ. After that event Midland BJJ invited me to drop in at their school. I was a bit apprehensive as I train at a “rival” school and compete against their guys in local tournaments. I was blown away at how open , accepting and forthcoming the professors and students were. I now drop in every chance I get and I am currently averaging once a week to roll and train with these guys. The school is open to all levels , ages and body types. The instructors are very open and helpful, the school is very clean and well kept and the array of experience in the mats on any given day is something that I usually only see at seminars. Midland BJJ is an embodiment of what the martial arts community should be in the Permian. I appreciate all that I have gained personally from my involvement at this gym.

Best MMA/BJJ school in west Texas! Support local business!
I’m currently a security officer in the police academy and one day I ran into Bradley barns the coach/ owner of midland BJJ and he invited me out to class. I got there and it just felt natural, everybody was so welcoming and willing to teach. you could just feel the energy from everybody and the coach..I spent a few hours on the Mat with different students and was instantly learning something from everybody. I was hooked after my first session. I definitely recommend it for anybody and everybody.
Took part in the all women’s self defense class today…VERY INFORMATIVE AND COMFORTABLE class! My husband and boys have been attending for over a year and this is truly one awesome gym. We have met some great people and are truly blessed to be a part of such a close community ❤️ I would HIGHLY recommend Midland BJJ to families and to women who have thought about trying their classes. They have a way of making you feel very comfortable which is awesome :)

I recently attended a combatives training class there. Brad was top notch. His class was well laid out, he had great interaction with the students, and made time to help each student on their level. This was a great class and great facility that I will visit again soon.

Thank you for what you’re doing for those in law enforcement and even those who aren’t. From my first class to where I am now has been a humbling, challenging, and rewarding journey. The only regret I have is that I didn’t start sooner. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences at the gym. The community and atmosphere you’ve built are very inviting for something I thought was intimidating when I started.
My son and I dropped in for a month while we waited on an overseas assignment to start. They provided a welcoming atmosphere, and the instruction and training partners were top notch. Classes (especially kids classes!) were fun and instructive. It was also great to see how much the gym gives back to the community. If we end up in Midland again we will be sure to come back.
Midland BJJ has been like a second home to me over the last year and a half. I moved to Midland in June of 2019 and then COVID and life circumstances hit in 2020 and I wanted/needed an outlet. I had dabbled in BJJ and kickboxing before but never had a gym to belong to and get excited about being a part of. This gym is that for me. The coaching is excellent. The environment is clean and welcoming. As with any great establishment, it’s really the people here that make it exceptional. I’ve made many friends training here. The mental, physical, and spiritual growth you can achieve training martial arts and especially BJJ is hard to describe, but suffice to say, I would recommend coming and training with us at Midland BJJ to anyone who asks me.

Definitely recommend Midland BJJ for learning self defense and incorporating a healthy stress relief system, in a simultaneous manner. The coaches work with your body type and are very knowledgeable when it comes to doing so.
This has been an amazing experience for both my sons and myself. Coach Nestor is incredible with my boys, Ninja and Jojo! I would highly recommend Midland BJJ to anyone...and I do! Coach Brad does a phenomenal job with Midland BJJ and wouldn't want to be anywhere else!
Midland BJJ is a great gym for people of all ages and experience levels! With class times ranging from early morning to the evening, they can accommodate any schedule! Everyone is friendly and the coaching is top notch! My son and I have been training here for a year and a half, and we can't imagine going anywhere else!

Great Coaches and staff very friendly environment 👌👌
My kids trained at Midland BJJ when we lived in west Texas and it is by far the best gym they have been to. My boys loved training with Nestor and always learned so much from him. Brad is very involved and is always hosting clinics with specials guests he brings in. From the moment you walk in, you feel like family. Everytime we travel back to Midland, we make sure to drop in a class or two and are always welcomed with open arms. I'm very appreciative of Brad and Midland BJJ for setting the foundation for my boys in jiu-jitsu.

I've been to many Martial Arts academies all over the world. The people of Midland/Odessa are very fortunate to have Brad running one in their area. There is a wide array of knowledge in the academy. If you're looking for Jiu Jitsu, or MMA, or just there for Self Defense, you will find what you are looking for. I can not wait to come back. -Cole
I would recommend Midland BJJ to anyone! I found the community to be outstanding at this gym. The coaching was exceptional and I felt that the coaches took their time in addressing my needs as a student. Classes were run in an efficient and professional manner, and catered to a diverse audience! Unfortunately due to my work I had to move away from Midland, and I know it will be difficult to find a gym to match Midland BJJ. My experiences in this gym were extremely positive ones and I am grateful for the time I got to spend there!
I have been to plenty of different gyms across the country and I must say Midland bjj is amongst the best. Everything from the coaches, students, cleanliness, and the class curriculum are top notch. Midland BJJ is for everyone on a journey to become their betters selves. Check them out!!
You won't ever find a boring time at Midland BJJ. Professor Brad Barnes and his coaching staff are phenomenal instructors. His academy has a curriculum and the classes are very well structured, which I really like. I travel from Big Spring to Midland (50 min drive) and the schedule here is very flexible so there are No Excuses not to train! Professor Brad also sets up seminars with well known BJJ practitioners and UFC fighters.
Midland BJJ is very military and law enforcement friendly and help those who serve their country and community out with a discount. If you are a law enforcement officer, you get to train for free until you get your blue belt with their Blue Line program. Now that's an awesome deal!
Let me also mention that the people who train here are awesome! Everyone here leaves their ego out their door and the people who attend the classes are friendly. It took me a year to convince my fiance to try out BJJ and now she is addicted.
I have been training for the past four and a half years. I started out in Southern California and a reassignment for work is what led me to West Texas and I have to say that I am grateful to have found this academy. So come on down and try out Midland BJJ. See ya'll on the mat! OSS!!!
I have been training at Midland BJJ since February of 2021. The gym offers a one week trial for you to try and see if BJJ would be worth pursuing for you.
My personal experience so far has been remarkable and I have greatly enjoyed this newfound hobby. I started while probably around 50lbs overweight and with no prior experience in martial arts. Starting jiu jitsu has helped me get to a healthier mental and physical state in a few short months. It is a great way for people of all sizes and ages to learn self-defense and have fun while doing it. I still consider myself to be a complete beginner but I have found practice and learning little by little to be quite enjoyable. So far, I have no plans to compete and I am using this as my sole source of physical exercise throughout the week.
The gym lessons include Gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from beginner to advanced levels, wrestling, and MMA. Most of these are available for children, teenagers, and adults and should you need more help in a smaller setting, private coaching sessions can also be purchased.
Brad, the lead instructor and owner, is one of several black belts who regularly are at Midland BJJ and share instruction duty over the week.
Since I have joined Midland BJJ, there have also been seminars provided free of charge for members around every other month. These consist of a few lessons over a day or two with a guest instructor who competed at a high level in MMA or Jiu Jitsu with the possibility of purchasing private lessons as well.
There is a lot of variety among the students in terms of experience along with size and body types so chances are not only will you be able to practice with someone that is about your size, you will also get to practice around smaller or bigger people. It may be a bit daunting to get started, but once you do you may find BJJ to have an overall positive impact on your life and you will want to come back to learn more.
Midland BJJ is a great place to learn, I have found that instructors are great people both on and off the mat. I highly recommend swinging by and signing up for a trial.

Enrolling in Juijitsu at Midland Bjj has been the one of the best choices I have made in my life. I’m 34 and I had let myself get out of shape, I wasn’t eating well and I was drinking to much during covid. Starting any type of physical program for “self improvement” is always intimidating and a difficult commitment at first. From day one I felt welcomed and it was immediately at place I felt proud to be apart of, you could tell everyone else was glad to be there too. I have been attending classes 3-5 times a week for over a year and I have lost almost 40 pounds and I feel better than I did in my 20’s. Losing weight and getting in shape is a great reason to join but it’s not just that. Juijitsu has become therapeutic for me, my overall mood, happiness at home and quality of life has drastically improved.
The facility, staff, students and spectators is grade A!! I would highly recommend this to anyone. It has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Midland BJJ coaches and works with everyone - no matter what limitations or lack of abilities you might have. Keep up the great work Midland BJJ!

I have been training and instructing Martial Arts for over 15 years and this is one of the best academies I have ever walked into. The instructors truly care about the student's growth as both a martial artist and a person. The family atmosphere is second to none and I can't wait to go back. As an elite level MMA fighter, I had head instructor Bradley Barnes come out to one of my fights and run my corner for BellatorMMA because I knew he would be a captain with world class instruction. Running the amatuer program at American Top Team I also had teach classes on occasions beause I knew he'd relate to everyone on the mat and they'd leave better for it. Facility is also kep very clean so no one has to worry about hygiene. Midlands BJJ all the way!
I've been attending class regularly with my teen son (4-5x/week) since moving to Midland from out of state back in June. Midland BJJ has been nothing short of an answered prayer. Moving during high school can be tough on kids, but my son instantly fell in with a great group of kids at Midland BJJ, and we're both feeling right at home there. Professor Brad is a total professional, the schedule options are great, and the more experienced students are helpful and selfless. GREAT place for BJJ!

Midland BJJ is the best martial arts school in the basin, with experience in both MMA and BJJ. Midland BJJ is the only school where you can learn both at a high level.
Unbelievable place. Family atmosphere and great coaching. Whether you are brand new or a grizzled vet in the game this is the place to be in West Texas. Coach Brad also works hard to routinely bring in QUALITY coaches for seminars. This gym has got me through my first MMA fight and first grappling match and it’s the best decision I’ve made since I have moved out to Midland. Any retired athletes or competitive people looking for competition or people who just want to get into fitness, this is the place to be.
I have three boys that fall into two different kid class ages. My oldest (11) LOVES his class. He’s learned so much, has more confidence in himself and more respect for others. He used to be pretty clumsy, but BJJ has also helped his balance and hand eye coordination. He has made close friends while in class and even though he’s tired from the workout at the end of each class, he’s always excited about what he’s learned and how he’s progressing! My younger two (5 & 7) loved it as well! The coaches who work with the kids are patient, but firm in teaching them to pay attention and learn. They make class fun each time though! Although my work schedule changed and I can no longer make it for my little two to attend their class, they can’t wait until they’re old enough for the big kid class so they can go back! The classes are well structured, safe, and fun for kids! The price is reasonable considering they can attend 5 days a week, every week.
We are so grateful for Midland BJJ! Our son has been going for about a year now and not only has he developed skills that will serve him his entire life, but his confidence in himself has grown tremendously!
He loves the community and wants to go to class every chance he can. Brad Barnes and his team are a huge asset to Midland, Tx!
Midland BJJ is an amazing place. Since I walked in the doors, I have made many new friends and memories. Professor Brad is a book of knowledge for BJJ, self defense and MMA. He wants nothing, but for his students to have fun and improve. Professor Brad brings in some of the highest talent in the world in BJJ to the gym for his students. Come join and have fun, because at Midland BJJ there is no ego, just Jiu Jitsu.
I’ve been training on and off for 7 years, moved a couple times and trained in different gyms. Brad and midland bjj are the best Teacher/instructor and
gym/ facility I’ve found. Brad brings in top notch instruction from UFC fighters, black belt bjj competitors, to firearms Combatives military instructors. They also work hard, and offer classes all throughout the day, making it convenient to train.
From the moment I stepped foot in Midland BJJ, I have been treated with nothing but respect and professionalism from not only the instructors, but each and every member. The instructors are patient and safety is always their number one priority. I highly recommend Midland BJJ to anyone who is seeking to gain friends, stay fit, and train in the discipline of BJJ.
Midland BJJ is a welcoming family. Professor, Bradley Barnes is an amazing teacher and guides each one of his students throughout our training/learning journey. From the first day studying the craft to few months in Midland BJJ has treated me with the upmost respect and put my training abilities first. I truly appreciate this sport to a whole another level since starting my journey with Midland BJJ and Professor Barnes. What are you waiting for? Toes on the line...
Great family atmosphere and veteran owned business! Perfect place to learn self defense, get in better shape or for people wanting to compete. I was new to the area and Brad and the other instructors make you feel welcome and are always there to help. Midland bjj also has a lot of seminars featuring big names from the jiu Jitsu and mma community stop by.
Midland BJJ is a phenomenal place to train. My VA counselor recommended getting back into a combat sport to help with PTSD. To say the team at Midland BJJ has helped with that is an understatement. Brad Barnes isn’t just a great coach/professor, he’s a great man. He’s knowledgeable, professional, direct, and compassionate. Once I explained why I was interested, he walked me through everything putting me completely at ease with starting my training. He went out of his way to make sure I trained with more experienced upper belts that helped me understand the techniques. He took care of all the uniform items I would need and made recommendations on everything from books, equipment, videos and training aids to help me get better. The atmosphere at the gym is really eclectic. Yes people are training and training hard at a violent sport/self defense discipline, but it’s completely relaxed. From top competitors down to brand new students, everyone was extremely friendly, supportive and uplifting. The training itself is difficult... but the rewarding feeling of accomplishment COMPLETELY makes it worthwhile and it is an incredible stress reliever. I think the thing that surprised me the most was how PHYSICALLY rewarding it was. I had been dieting for a few weeks before I started and lost a few pounds, but I dropped 30 more within 6 months of training here. Do not say, “I need to get in shape first”, it will get you in shape. The last thing I’ll say is that most schools I’ve been told really focus on students that are serious competitors, and the people doing it for the mental health, exercise and self defense benefits get left behind. Not here, every student regardless of rank, reason or ability gets the same level of attention. That’s not to say the competitors here aren’t successful because they do extremely well in tournaments. It’s just that Brad treats everyone there equally and everyone feels important to him. Do not hesitate, JOIN TODAY!
I have been training at Midland BJJ for a while now. To give perspective, I am a working health professional, and had some apprehension coming in at first. I was worried about getting injured particularly my hands, rendering myself unable to provide for my family. I was also worried that I would have to contend with a bunch of egos. This has never been an issue. Professor Brad has fostered an amazing environment where all feel welcome, regardless of experience level and everyone is treated as family. Professor Brad is a fantastic instructor. He has the ability to teach complex concepts and simplify them in a way that a novice can grasp and rapidly apply them on the mat. Training at Midland BJJ has allowed me to better manage high work related stress levels, engage in physical activity and make new friends.
I cannot speak highly enough of this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to make a change and improve their quality of life
My oldest son has been a member for over a year now. He has built so much more confidence, self control, strength, and a positive attitude from the training and the friendships he has built while going here. We can not wait to get him back on training schedule. Brad is an awesome instructor/owner, he treats everyone with the same respect whether they are 5 or 50 and is very encouraging and helpful! He keeps his gym and his equipment clean and looks out for the well being of all of his members.
My family (wife and 4 of my kids) and Joined Midland BJJ back around November-December. It has been a wonderful and rewarding experience! All of my younger kids have really enjoyed it and their instructor does an amazing job with them. My two older boys (teenagers) are usually in class with me. It has been so much fun to enjoy this with my boys and my wife! Brad has been a great instructor and motivator! I can't say enough good things about the people here and the owner and instructors. You won't be disappointed. Go take advantage of the free trial.
Midland BJJ is a great place to either start your BJJ journey or continue your training if you’re new to the area. Brad and the rest of the team are always positive and welcoming to everyone that comes through the door. Brad goes to great lengths to bring UFC veterans and other world class fighters, wrestlers, etc to to gym for seminars. You get the time and attention you need, if you want to be a fighter or you’re just looking to get out of the house for some exercise. Nestor does a stellar job with the kids classes as well. Midland is lucky to have such a great, well rounded gym right here. I can’t recommend it enough.
Everything about Midland BJJ from the facility, staff, students and spectators is top notch! I would highly recommend this to anyone. Come out and try the fundamentals class for one week; it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Midland BJJ also coaches and works with everyone - no matter what limitations or lack of abilities you might have. Keep up the great work Midland BJJ!
Assuming my review is fake instead of asking if there is something we could do better says everything I need to know about how you STILL run your business...
Well I wasn't going to make a review in words but since you responded to my star rating with saying it's a fake review I will go into detail with experience with your business practices.... If any reviews are fake it's probably your five star reviews. During the 5 days every week for months my family trained with you brad at your gym it was a very toxic environment all I heard was you constantly complaining and talking trash about your other instructors and we left after that... Like I said the best response would have been what we can do better ect. Not that it's a fake review.

Second time trying to check this place out and both times facility closed during the times they state they are open online. Waste of my time.
