Top notch group of instructors! Exceptional training and very welcoming atmosphere. My daughter is experienced in BJJ and we just moved to the area. We were so lucky to find such an awesome gym and even better group of people! If you are experienced, looking to learn how to defend yourself, or just get involved in something for fitness, you have found the right place!

Troy’s gym is an outstanding place to get a good workout in and get some of the best training you could ask for. From black belts to white belts they all are welcoming and eager to learn and grow together. Troy and his coaches definitely go out of their way to make sure everyone is getting the level of training they need and having a good time doing it. Couldn't be happier I joined here

I can't say enough great things about Gracie Venice! From the first day I stepped onto the mats, everyone made me feel incredibly welcome and part of the community. The instructors, especially Troy Gerhart, are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also patient, supportive, and genuinely invested in every student's progress. Whether you're looking to compete, learn self-defense, or simply get in shape and have fun, this is the perfect place. The atmosphere is always positive, respectful, and motivating. Joining this school and team has been one of my best decisions. I am a brown belt and highly recommend it to anyone considering starting or continuing their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey! You won't find a better training room in South West Florida.

I am a brown belt that transferred from another school. Gracie Venice Jiu Jitsu offers everything that I am looking for in a school! Troy Gerhart is an excellent professor who pays attention to his students and their advancement in the martial arts of Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and MMA. Everything we do has a purpose. Gracie Venice provides a culture that promotes learning, team, friendship, and fun! The school fosters a safe a d clean environment. Whether you are a beginner, advanced martial artist, competitor, or just a hobbyist practitioner, Gracie Venice is the place for you!

Our 15 year old joined 3 months ago and this has been the best experience he had with a sport. He doesn’t miss a class and is always enthusiastic about it ! He feels his team mates are like family . The biggest change I saw in my son is his confidence boost. He is more calm and mature. Thank you Troy for being such a positive roll model and for offering our son a safe and fun place to learn !

I’ve been training at Gracie Venice under Professor Troy for over a year now, and it’s been an incredible experience. Professor Troy brings a wealth of knowledge, technical expertise, and passion to every class. His teaching style is clear and structured, making even the most complex techniques accessible to all students, regardless of experience level. The environment he fosters is both welcoming and challenging—a perfect balance for growth in jiu jitsu and MMA. Whether you’re looking to improve your skills, get in shape, or just be part of an amazing community, this is the place to train. Highly recommend!

I have been training at Gracie Venice for about 10 months now. During this time period I’ve talked to coach Troy and I can honestly say he cares so much about all of his students. In addition to that, he is very knowledgeable and understands how to run a gym properly. I 100% recommend training at Gracie Venice.

I have trained at other BJJ gyms but Venice Gracie is next level. It’s very structured, drilling focused, and gives you a great work out. Troy and all the other coaches are great and very helpful. Everyone there is welcoming and it’s a great place for people who are new to BJJ. Highly recommend.

If you are reading this review and decided whether or not to try this, the answer is yes. I had been interested for 20 years but was always afraid to walk into a gym like this. Every preconceived idea I had was wrong; every single person has been welcoming, patient and friendly. I have not seen one instance of ego, disrespect or condescending behavior, in fact it is the exact opposite with the highest amount of mutual respect and support. Almost every class has a new person trying it for the first time and everyone is encouraging. Make no mistake this can be a hard but rewarding workout, at 2 months in I am down 18 pounds with no other changes. I'm in love with the sport and the culture and I would strongly reccomend giving this a try 😎

Gracie Venice and Troy are a blessing in the area. Top notch affiliation with an excellent instructor who has walked the walk. Black belt and Pro MMA fighter teaches from a perspective of “has done it”. He also jumps on the mat and trains with the members daily. Works for the beginner looking to get in shape and improve his physical fitness and the very experienced looking to stay on course training hard. Also and most importantly. Family atmosphere , friendly and helpful group.

The instructors are top-notch, providing expert guidance in Jujitsu, kickboxing, and MMA. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the diverse range of classes keeps every session engaging. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned athlete, this gym caters to all skill levels. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the sense of community among members is inspiring. If you're looking for a place to hone your skills and challenge yourself, this gym is the perfect fit. 5 stars all the way!

Very proud to be a part of this gym . Professor Troy is a great humble leader . I trained with him at the beginning of his MMA career, way back in the day . When I heard he was coming back to Venice and opening a school I was truly excited . The plan was to show love and support . Long story short my wife and I and my daughter signed up . My daughter has been doing the kids class and my wife and I do the adult class right after. Very convenient for our family . I truly enjoy his coaching . He coaches each individual according to their needs . He truly takes pride in coaching his students . When I signed up I was 207 it’s been 3 weeks and now I’m 192 lbs with a long way to go and when he gives me advice he says we . That truly shows his investment into helping me achieve my goals . When he coaches my wife he also helps her in her needs . I’m very happy here and the new friends we met are awesome. I’m lucky enough that I know what a good gym has , and I got lucky again finding a good gym here in Venice . Truly love being coached by a friend and a good man .
